I'm pretty happy with the battery of my 6 so far. It's about double what I would get on my 4s.

I disagree. There are many cases where someone can be using a phone with the screen off. Listening to streaming audio (Pandora, beats, iTunes radio), being on a phone call with the phone in my pocket and headphones on, using bluetooth headsets or using handoff for a phone call (which is now possible) and syncing wirelessly all count to me as usage, even if I'm not looking at the screen or the screen is off. I think the usage stats would be incorrect is these weren't counted.

Forgot phone call. This one you can consider the same as screen on time.

I don't stream audio that much but I think battery drain with screen on is still several times higher. I use the note 4 and have a lot of background processes/widgets and these don't make a dent on battery drain compared to the screen.

Still with all these other variations if iPhone has a screen on time it will give a much more accurate indication of battery life.

Apple usage stat is totally useless since you can misjudged that someone who got 20 hours of usage just playing music has a better battery than someone who continously use the phone but gets 5-6 hrs of usage. With screen on time you won't have this kind of ridiculous disparity.

My latest usage only 3g/4g

iPhone 6
Usage 7 Hours 20 Minutes
Standby 2 Days 4 Hours
Battery 2% left

iPhone 6 Plus
Usage 10 Hours 5 Minutes
Standby 3 Days 3 Hours
Battery 3% left

So, do you think the battery of the iPhone 6 Plus is generally better than the battery of the iPhone 6?

Not sure how I got this result tonight (actually it was simply unplugged and doing a lot of things in the background screen off on Wi-Fi)

Left screenshot is from Friday (10/17) to Saturday morning. I must say the battery life is awesome on this phone (iphone 6) compared to my iPhone 5. And the second screenshot is from Thursday. Not bad with my toddler playing Cars and watching some movies on Netflix.

Pretty happy with idle usage. Just a half hour of activity, but minimal drain sleeping. Dropped to 99% @ 4:07.

No idea. I've tried iBackupBot on several iPhones and have yet to get battery capacity to show.

When you open iBackupBot with the iPhone plugged in, click on the device name when it shows up in the lower left side, then on the right side, click more information

Awesome! What's your Full Charge Capacity (from iBackupBot)

post back when that % is at 1% hard to say if you will get another 30mins or 3 hours of usage

Hey,

So, here's my screenshot as soon as it turned to 1% along with my brightness setting.

What do you think? I can still return it for a new one if this is less battery life than I should be happy with

Here's my 6 plus. Is it normal to lose battery during standby? During my 2nd charge I unplugged it and let it sit overnight for 8 hours and battery was still 100%. Now every time I let it sit overnight it loses about 2-3%. I didn't change anything in the settings. Push to 2 emails. Background app refresh off, wifi&data on. Bluetooth always off. Bright set to auto. Location services on for my core apps. Also I could use safari for about 30-40 minutes and not lose percent, now I'm losing about 3% during less time. I'm on iOS 8.0.2

Yes it's normal to lose some battery during standby when you sleep. Losing 2-3% is normal for the phone to drop overnight. Even when in standby it still needs power for to use wifi and/or cellular reception (but those should be very minimal).

Sometimes the battery needs to calibrate, so the display shows 100% but in reality the battery is by 97-98%.

9 hours? How is that possible? Is the battery lifetime of the iPhone 6 better than the battery lifetime of the iPhone 6 Plus?

Lol, I was surprised, too. It just depends on the usage. I wasn't constantly on my phone. Picked it up for a few minutes of texting, Facebook, and YouTube here and there. And that's what I ended up getting. Brightness is at about 40%. Auto brightness off. It's a good battery. Really is.

Jacob?

If you download iBackupBot, plug in your iPhone, then select your device and click more information, you can see your full charge capacity

Alright thanks for the advice Jacob, I'll try downloading tomorrow and check it out.

I think a lot of it, more than we think, is down to how good the cellular network quality is. I think it differs from network provider to provider.

Here's why I think the battery usage stats can be misleading.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413714129.262521.jpg

This is the iPhone 6 that has consistently given me 6-7 hours of a day's normal to heavy use. Here's a normal day's usage:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413714401.881934.jpg

This time round however, I left the phone in a draw and used it here and there by the bedside. Over a period of two days.

The usage is 13 hours plus over a 2 day period.

I haven't used it for 13 hours in my hand that's for sure. The usage must be from small background processes such as photo and mail sync, updates etc.

At this rate, I would get a theoretical usage of about 17 or so hours. But I know in real life usage, I only get 6-7 hours usage. It all depends on what usage that is.
