Haven't tried 8.1.1 yet to compare. Not worth the risk of losing the jailbreak in my opinion since only 8.0 to 8.1 can be jailbroken.

Oh and I found the post I was talking about above:

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/20222995/

erform the jailbreak my iphone and reduced my 10 hour battery iphone 6-5 -6 hours , with tweaks your computer you recommended and got very hot
I had to remove it because I was left stuck on the screen to restart the iphone

why this happens and how I can fix it ?

Nice to see more people getting 9-10 hours of battery life these days. Looks good guys!

Probably better to ask these questions in the jailbreak forums, but if you're stuck on the screen to restart the iPhone it sounds like you're in a boot loop of some kind.

I got stuck the first two times I tried the jailbreak. Didn't work until the third. I had to do things in a specific order:

Backup my iPhone to iTunes
Restore my iPhone to 8.1 through iTunes
Restore from the backup in iTunes
Go through all the welcome screens until you get to the home screen
Put iPhone in airplane mode
Run Pangu jailbreak
If it says "success" without closing/crashing then it worked.
Finally click on Cydia app and install your tweaks.

My phone never got hot. If yours is getting hot something went really wrong.

hanks and fix it , now I want to try the values of 12-14 hours you mentioned in the previous post

Battery Usage/Life Screenshots iPhone 6

This is the best I've achieved with my iPhone 6 64GB. I was getting steady 6-8 hours usage without music from day 1 but since I followed TubbyMac's instructions, the usage stats seems unbelievable. I mean even I can't believe this. I'm Jailbroken with about 15 tweaks, brightness at 50% all day, no auto-brightness, LTE/Wifi always on. Today I listened to music for 1 hour while I was running and ended up with the following stats. Unbelievable! Wanted to share these with you guys so here it goes:

I men and followed the instructions but can not get better than 10 hours

EveryOnes usage will be different over a 24 hour period I typically have about 70percent usage with safari and I only get 7 hours if that sometimes it all depends on the apps people like I also have a jb ip6 64gb with all tubbymacs tweaks but my safari usage kills any advantage I may get

whatsapp, drain all my battery ( iphone 6)

with jailbreak only 9 hours, at 1 %
without jailbreak 10-10.30

same configuration tubbymac

I agree. Here's mine with LTE on but only getting 3G here @ the office (jailbroken 6 plus). Bluetooth and Wifi off when not in use. Auto brightness on, Auto lock on @ 1 min.

Tweaks & Settings: Mostly the same as tubbymac's

So I just went from ridiculous battery life to LUDICROUS battery life by trying a "you're using it wrong" trial and error strategy. Check my screenshot below and I've hit 9 hours of usage on half the battery (that's on track for 18 hours of usage on a full drain). I now get more usage on half my battery than most people get on a full battery. This is an iPhone 6 128gb version. It is NOT the IPhone 6 Plus. I am on iOS 8.1 with a jailbreak and tweaks to save battery life explained in my most recent posts.

My strategy was simple. Each day I would look at my usage and make a note of what app was at the top of the list using the most battery. For myself this was Safari. So the next day I would consciously try to use that app less. Rinse and repeat for the day after. I also started trying not to hit the home screen button as the home screen has been a battery drain culprit. Instead I would double press to get the multitask screen instead and as you can see in my screenshot that lead to very low home screen usage.

Finally I tested a few things with leaving apps running. Before I used to quit every app using the upwards swipe from multitasking screen but noticed that battery life got better when I stopped doing this. So next I tried leaving all apps running but noticed that it wasn't as good for the battery as only leaving a few of my most recently used apps running and manually quitting down the rest. Eventually I found that for myself leaving about 5 of my most recently used apps running and shutting everything else down with the upward swipe gave me the best battery life.

Other changes I've done that I'm not sure affect battery life have been to install the LockGlyph tweak but it may be coincidence that I installed it when the battery got better through other reasons. Also this screenshot involved me wearing headphones when I listened to my podcasts and music instead of usually playing things through the speaker. Maybe that helped too I'm not sure.

Anyways this was a rather extreme test of battery life. I'll probably end up going back to using Safari the most like usual but it gave me an idea of what apps are the best for battery life (Alien Blue and Tapatalk and Spotify seem amazing for battery).View attachment 515874

So in short, your solution is to not use the phone in a way that is comfortable to you, and instead use the phone the way you feel the phone is dictating you should (based on app battery consumption)? What good is having the phone, if you're going to do things like purposely not use Safari, just because the day before it used more battery. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having a smartphone?

Finally at least two other people, Shaliesh.Sharma and Dyords, have been able to also achieve stellar battery life with the tweaks. Was starting to think I had a mutant iPhone for a while.

I salute your ability to use the phone 12.5 hours in one day. That is quite an endurance run. 16% battery left and not enough time in the day to use it. That's an awesome result! Your cell signal is also ridiculously good and probably has a lot to do with it. 5 full bars of reception.

EveryOnes usage will be different over a 24 hour period I typically have about 70percent usage with safari and I only get 7 hours if that sometimes it all depends on the apps people like I also have a jb ip6 64gb with all tubbymacs tweaks but my safari usage kills any advantage I may get

Yeah Safari is my main battery killer too. With 70% usage that probably explains your lower battery life numbers. Easiest recommendation is to try Tapatalk (free app). If you can even just push Safari down to say 50% usage, that means you will get 20% of your battery life back for other things! 20% back would be equal to another 1.2 hours of battery for you.

You lost 1.5 hours of battery with the jailbreak? Doh. Sounds like some tweak you have is eating battery. Finding which tweak is doing that will be difficult without trial and error elimination.

That is crazy good battery life. 4.5 hours of usage using only 1/4 of your battery!

The last line I wrote was the most important line though "... anyways this was a rather extreme test of battery life. I'll probably end up going back to using Safari the most like usual but it gave me an idea of what apps are the best for battery life."

I'm not advocating that everybody change their entire app usage habits. This was an extreme test to see which apps of mine used up the most of my battery. The only way I got 9 hours of battery there was to read reddit for most of the day using Alien Blue. That is not my normal use. I'm back to having Safari at the top of my usage and bouncing between 6-7 hours on half my battery. For myself, that's good enough.

Other changes are easy to adopt though - leave apps open instead of closing them, and double click the home button instead of single clicking it. Those most people can do and will end up giving them back more battery life.

50% and 6 hours of use ( iphone 6)

What tweak/app is that? I don't have anything with those settings.

As I posted above, I'm getting dramatically better battery life now that I've restored my iPhone 6 from an iTunes backup and performed the Pangu iOS 8.1 jailbreak. First picture is for reference, which was my 7 hours of usage using only half the battery. Second picture is how I've configured Settings / Privacy / Location Services (forgot to screenshot the stuff that got cut off at the bottom - everything cut like Popular Near Me is off). Third picture is how I've configured Settings / Privacy / Location Services / System Services. Fourth picture is how I've configured Settings / iCloud.

Brightness is left at default auto-brightness mode. Wifi is always on. Bluetooth is always off. Orientation lock is on. Also background fetch is turned OFF.

Before the jailbreak I had my twitter account logged in under Settings. After the jailbreak I've removed my twitter account and removed Twitterrific. This seems to have reduced the "network always spinning" bug in Safari that came about during iOS 8.1. It also seems to have helped battery life. I use twitter through the web now.

Oh I also no longer swipe to close my frequently used apps. I only swipe away things like Camera, Maps, and Voice Over IP apps. This seems to have helped battery.

The jailbreak tweaks that seem to have extended battery life that I have installed include:

Disable Parallax Effect - This removes the parallax effect from the home screen but leaves all the other animations intact (so it's better than using Accessibility Settings / Reduce Motion). Seems to greatly reduce battery use from the home screen which has been a big percentage battery drainer for a lot of people in this thread.

NoLiveClock - Stops the home screen clock from constantly updating and animating. Again reduces battery drain from the home screen.

Light Untrusted Hosts Blocker - Adblock based on host file entries that saves battery and data by not downloading or rendering ads on web sites visited in Safari (should work in Chrome and everything else too that has ads).

Finally my wallpaper is set to the mostly black picture with the top of the earth showing (one of the default still wallpapers). This could possibly be helping my battery by not having to use much power to display the background.

I'm not sure which of these is causing the biggest battery gains. Altogether though they've improved my already great iPhone 6 battery life from about 8-10 hours usage to about 12-14 hours! This is insane. It's now even better than the iPhone 6 Plus I had before.

Would love to see if other people can reproduce my results!

Thank for you sharing your solution to the "network always spinning" bug! This had been bothering me since I bought my 6 a week ago. Man I googled and googled for a solution to no avail.

Sure enough, once I logged out of Twitter in the settings app and killed safari from the multitasking tray, the network indicator bug has not returned! Thank you for this! Not sure if that bug was draining battery or not but it CONSTANTLY spun while I used safari no matter what I did to fix it. It was getting really annoying. Thanks!

Edit: Dam, I spoke to soon. The spinning wheel is back! Dammit!

Yeah I can't get rid of it entirely either but without the Twitter account it happens very rarely for me now. Every time it does the constant spin I do a double click on home button and then upward swipe to force close safari. That fixes it until the next time it comes back.

Yup exactly what I'm doing now. I have always been in the "killing apps can kill your battery" camp but for this bug, since I do not know if it is affecting battery or not, I just kill safari and then reopen it.

If you find a solution please let me know. I'll do the same. Thanks again!

I thank you posting your findings and your settings here. I thought my battery couldn't get any better but this phone is surprising me more everyday. Coming from a Samsuck S3, this phone has been like an oasis for me. The responsiveness of the UI, the sleekness of the device, it's amazing gaming and camera capabilities and the never ending battery life. Life couldn't get any better in terms of using your gadget. If I didn't love my Alienware M17xR3 so much, hell I might even have bought a Macbook Pro but that seems highly unlikely. I'm perfectly happy with Windows 7.

Back to topic, the cell reception here in Dubai is almost flawless so that must be saving me valuable battery life. My brightness is at 50% majority of the time unless I'm under direct sunlight when I take it to 100%. This screen is just too beautiful to be used dimly. I use Tapatalk, Safari, Cydia, Whatsapp, Photos and TouchPal endlessly. I'll charge my device to its brim one of these days and play games until the battery runs out and post my findings here. I am very curious to see this myself.

On a side note, I've never had the "spinning-wheel" bug a lot of people talk about in this forums from Day 1. Never seen it happen even once. The only hint of a complaint I've with my device is 3rd party keyboard's responsiveness and not being able to manage my own photos. Everything else here is meat and gravy!

I'm on iP6 and get around 10-14h of screen on time which is actually good.

But I've found out that there are some battery hogs:

- Parallax is using some 3-5% and the effect is useless at best when noticed at all
- Closing unused apps helps extending battery life by a huge amount

I've noticed a day when I just got about 7h usage instead of 10+ and digged into a rather old CPU usage app called Status. My CPU usage according to this app was always 50%+ and never dropped. So the iP6 has a good battery life of 6-7h while one CPU is working at 100%. Just after quitting all but the recently opened apps the CPU usage dropped to 5-10% and I got my 10-14h back.

So there is definately a major bug in iOS eating up one CPU core all day long without letting you know.... and it's not called parallax.

ive updated to 8.1.1 jailbreak with taig ive reinstalled tubbymacs tweaks ie no clock, disable parrallax and light untrusted host blocker i wont install my other tweaks i use littlebrother and barrel although i will install appcake with appsync to get my games back. i will update this post when my battery hits 50percent with my normal usage ie some graphically intensive games and lots of safari

I have a rMBP myself and the only thing it can't do well is play games. Alienware should smoke it in that respect. I have a Windows Asus G73SW for gaming. If the rMBP next year can finally do some decent gaming I'll be able to get rid of the Asus.

I found closing apps after about 5-6 open did the best for my battery. Anything less and anything more actually hurt my battery for some reason. Wonder if 8.1.1 fixes the CPU core being used bug?

I've heard Appcake drains battery but can't confirm it since I don't have it installed. Maybe that's causing your battery issues. If you have appsync installed you don't need Appcake anyway. Appsync + iFunBox works better and doesn't have battery issues.

My first day with the iPhone 6 Plus...

That is some sick battery life. Amazing how long the iPhone 6 Plus can last!

Here's a full drain of my iPhone 6 128gb model running the iOS 8.1 with Pangu jailbreak and tweaks described in my previous posts. Did this over the thanksgiving weekend and squeezed out just over 15 hours of battery usage. Took so long to drain my battery I couldn't drain it in a day. Instead it took nearly a day and a half to wear this iPhone down.

Since I found out that the Alien Blue app gave me RIDICULOUS battery life in my previous posts, I intentionally didn't use the app for this test. Instead my top battery drainer was the game Super Hexagon. The game stresses out the phone more, forces the screen to stay on, and fends off all the "you're using it wrong" and "but you guys don't actually use your phones and that's why you get such great battery life" complaints.

To dispel the myth now and forever - BATTERY DRAIN IS INDEED LINEAR on the iPhone 6. If you look at my previous posts you'll see at half my battery my usage is around 7 hours. Double it and you get 14-15 which is what I achieved on a full drain. This means you don't have to drain your batteries to 1% all the time to see accurate results. The only exception is at 100% and at 1% the phone can sometimes appear to last forever. The 100% weirdness is due to the fact that the iPhone trickle charges so it says it's 100% when it's not. The 1% weirdness is due to the phone underestimating the full battery so that you charge your phone before it dies and harm your battery (think of it like when your car gas tank says empty).

My iPhone 6 is so solid now that I'm afraid to upgrade to the new iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak. Why break something that works? I'd be interested in what people are achieving with the new 8.1.1.

Final note - if you look at my screenshots you will notice that I have, from the first post in this thread, consistently listened to music and podcasts as part of my usage. If you don't listen to any music or podcasts at all, expect to get AT LEAST A FEW HOURS LESS battery usage on a full drain. So without any audio, something like 10-12 hours of battery would be great and nothing worth being disappointed about.
