This is my iphone 6 no listening to music which skews the usage table.

Because listening to music with the screen off still adds up in usage time

Right. Because the phone is being used when you're listening to music. Same as if you talked for an hour on the phone with the screen off.

It would be nice if iphone had an option like Android where you could see 'screen time on', but its hardly "skewed" to include actual usage under the term "usage".

6`s battery is AWESOME

I was getting around 6 hours usage (standby around 1 day) until i performed hard reset (home+lock button) - that did the trick.
My iphone 6 was brand new - not even rebooted - until this reset. Maybe there was something going on in the background - no idea.
Important thing is - i am getting around 10 hours of usage now (spotify, web, games - you name it!) and more than a day standby.

Before the reset, i did all the battery mambo-jumbo - notifications, location services tweaks (switching off not desired ones).

For example - this night i lost 1% in standby. Before the reset it was 5%-10%.

My 4G is around 2-3 bars (around -95 to -105 dBm). I use also wifi (home and work). Brightness around 30% (no auto). Bt off (only use for cycling sensors)

Just my small input for all those who keep rodeo-riding their battery hogs :)

Settings and Mail high usage??

Why are these so high? Mail is on 30 min fetch and have barely used the phone since off the charger this morning. I'm running 8.1.2 on 6+ Please help thank you.

Using an tracking app that consistently use GPS also counts towards usage.

Speaking of GPS, it would be nice if the screen turned off or dimmed during stretches of highway driving or whaever where there are no instructions being given.

You've only used 4% of your battery. Something has to account for that usage. So is your 1% or so mail usage really a problem? (Not to mention 3 and a half hours usage and still 96% battery life left is great in my book).

this is what my iPhone battery usage screen looks like after normal usage. The main Apps I used during this time were WhatsApp and Safari.

Talking on the phone for 30 minutes will use up way more battery than listening to music for 30 minutes.

So? GPS navigation is tough on the battery too.

So should we not count certain things that are using the battery as "usage" just because other things that are using the battery tax it more?

It's not about counting or not it's about recognizing that with a good amount of music usage someone can have a very high usage number which won't really reflect the typical reality for most others (just as with a very high GPS usage or a lot of time spent on calls could produce lower than typical usage numbers). It's about qualifying the results and putting them in context.

You are right, but the music is usually listen with the screen off (most of the time) so the power consumption is very low.
I'm always skeptic when I see very long usage time reported....

6 Plus, a lot of wifi use, background app refresh off, mail check manually

iPhone 6+. I turn off LTE at home. Turn on LTE and wifi off when I am away. Everything else is pretty much where Apple defaults it.

This is my battery life on my iPhone 6 8.1.1 (downgraded because battery drain was even worse)

I'm aware Twitter and Snapchat eat battery quite a bit, but I was getting fantastic battery life on 8.0.2 when I was using the exact same apps!

Really frustrated my iPhone can only just hit 3 hours usage!

Another screenshot from a previous day.

Low Facebook and Snapchat usage this time around. Bit of Spotify whilst I'm at the gym but seems the only way for me to get reasonably good battery life is to be constantly using my phone 24/7 so the usage and standby are similar times!

That looks almost exactly like me. I think it's just bad cell service in my area... (Even though apps rarely show low signal, and when they do they are only at like 2-5% on the list usually) Which is total BS because I have no control over that, so I'm just gonna have to live with bad battery life. Cell service at my house is pretty bad. LTE is -115 to -105ish, even though it still works fine. 3G is -100ish.

At my school I can see anything from No Service to -75.

But do you (or anyone else) have this issue? Where the first like 10 percent is exceptionally good and consistent, I can see 45 minutes of usage at 95%, an hour and a half by 90%, but then from 90% to 80%, it's about 45 minutes of usage. Then from there it drops like a stone, and gives me about 4-5 hours on a charge... I don't have issues with my phone dying too early because it almost never dies before the end of the day, so I don't have much to worry about. However, the only reason it doesn't die is because my day is kind of busy with school, homework, etc. Plus I use my iPad more once I hit WiFi.

However, this bad battery life still concerns me. I currently am at 1 hour and 31 minutes or have and am at 80%. Not HORRENDOUS, but that's about... 6 and a half hours of usage at 10%? Nothing like you people's 9-11 hour charges... I hope I haven't harmed the battery by charging the phone over night every night even when it's not dead, sometimes it's as high as 60% when I plug it in that night. Battery has never been that great since I first got the phone anyway.

Apple's own projections don't seem far off from this. As I recall, they said iphone 6 would be slightly better than the 5s.

In my case, I can get anywhere from 7-9 hours, compared to maybe 5-6 hours on my iphone 4. That's an acceptable improvement.

What phone did you have before, and what was the battery life?

80% at 1 hour 30 mins. Following the pattern it would be 60% at 3 hours, 40% at 4 hours 30 minutes, 20% at 6 hours, 0% at 7 and a half hours (I usually get closer to 6 hours though at most.) Where does Apple say we should get like 6 hours of charge? I usually mainly check social media (Twitter, Instagram) and Snapchat. Internet is definitely in there along with texting (iMessage and SMS) and the occasional game, Clash of Clans and Hay Day.

My last phone was a Galaxy S4. I don't remember the usage times on a charge, but I do know that the battery life was horrible. Combined with the disable of the flashlight at 15% and disable of the camera at 5%, it was a dreadful battery experience.

3% battery.

10 hours of usage (normal usage, background app off, reduce motion on, 4g off, screen at 25% brightness or so). Standby 1 day 14 hours.

I still believe battery could be better as this new update (8.1.2) is killing battery faster i think!

Happy with battery life on my iPhone 6. Still on 8.1.

Finally managed to somehow get 5 hours of usage out of my battery depleted iPhone 6.

To be honest though, a lot of usage was from Spotify so it's not really anything special.

Love to know how people are getting 9+ hours usage and 1 day standby tbh.
