I'm doing a full restore. It lasted pretty long after it reached 30%. I will set up as a new phone.

This is my second full battery calibration.

Wow. All that is off and your still having battery issues?? I thought it had something to do with exchange push or iCloud sync. Perhaps the root cause has something to do with Wifi...

Can any one comment on Bas battery life with not using wifi at all?

I have read through the first few pages on here and thought I would chime in.

I have noticed some significan drain, even compared to my 3GS that was running on iOS 5. The 4S drains faster but also charges faster. I plan on calibrating the battery tonight, hopefully that will help.

I personally think it is a software issue that they will fix in the next update.

I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but the problem should not be Find my Friends. Find my Friends works the same way as Find my iPhone. Basically, the phone only sends its location to Apple when asked, which is when you click on a friend or go into find my iPhone. So that should not be the problem.

As many have said, location based reminders are a big drain because they are constantly accessing GPS, unlike Find my Friends.

Turn restrictions on go in and shut Ping off, that sucker was a problem in iOS 4 even.

Just out of curiousity, but has anyone actually watched their phone die. Is there any chance that it isn't eating as much battery as it thinks it is.

I just put my phone on the charger and it seems to be slurping juice up crazy quick, got me thinking that maybe it wasn't draining as fast as it thought it was.

my only problem with this reasoning is that there are some people reporting amazing battery.

Done.

Also after 32 minutes on hold I got put on some never ending phone line that has been ringing for another 10 minutes... guess I'll try again later. :(

Yes, second night in a row that I have watched my phone turn off by itself at 1%

this is possible. i have noticed that it likes to drop from 100% relatively fast to 90% but it just won't die when it gets below 50%. it seems to drain more slowly as it approaches 0.

anyone mind explaining how to do a full restore? I only can find how to reset it

Open iTunes, plug in your phone, and then select it.

There is an option on the Summary tab... Restore.

I'm going to do that now... why not... lol

Nope... it's not.

PUSH is OFF, Fetch = Manual, how many times can I say everything but Cellular Data and Wifi is turned off? LOL

I've been an iOS user since 3G launch, I know my way around and I've disabled EVERYTHING. Something may be physically wrong with my phone, who knows.

I have a friend who got the 64GB Verizon model... his battery is working better than the 4 it replaced, he's extremely impressed and went almost two days after his first full charge.

I'm not saying it's a problem with the iPhone 4S in general... but mine sure is messed up!

I am on hold with Apple right now...

What's Apple saying?

I just played around with my newly restored iPhone 4S.. and it's still the same.
The right side of the phone is extremely hot, to a point where it hurts my hand, and i watched the battery go from 99% to 91% in a few minutes..all while browsing the App Store.

I'm guessing the dual core A5 chip is on the right side? Because man it's being worked crazy just to browse the App Store..

Is anyone else being affected by these symptoms?

This is ridiculous. I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, so looks like i'll get this guy replaced.

Yeah...never had that happen. I've gotten 4 hours and 40 minutes with 33% still remaining so if you do the math, i will get 7 hours of usage. I get a good 8 hours with the iPhone 4 so the 4S is 13% worse...not bad considering the considerable performance upgrade.

Last night I finished charging my phone at 11pm.

This morning 8am it went down to 80% and I hadn't touched the phone, except for using the alarm.

Gave it a full charge at 11am, and at 12.30am it went down to 49% with minimal usage (no internet, just a few texts and calls).

APPLE... HOW HAS BATTERY LIFE GOTTEN BETTER?
My 4 did a much better job, and I thought that was poor, this is a joke!

Apples says CLICK! 36 minutes on hold and I got dropped LOL

It appears to be the dirty little secret of the 4S. The battery stinks in comparison to the 4. I have used my 4 relentlessly since launch day last year. Every single day for hours at a time.

I have a brand new 64 4S, fully charged, next to my 4 which has been used and used and used some more - also fully charged. Guess which one drained faster? That's right - my brand spanking new 4S.

Face it, it just takes a lot of power to use the A5 compared to the A4. Hard to believe that my year old 4 holds a charge longer, but it does. No way is it something that can be fixed by a software update. I love the 4S but am hating the battery life. This is not a battery calibration issue or a restore issue. Lower the brightness and keep your fingers crossed that you can get through the day.

Batteries have a discharge profile and they rarely are linear.

Got my 4S yesterday afternoon, after setup and a bit of play it was down to about 70-80% when I went to bed at about 10:30pm, my alarm was set for 7:00am but it never went off, the battery was too low in the morning.

My 4 would loose at most 5% of it's charge overnight, I never had it go dead on me.

Not sure what the issue is and I browsed through a few pages. I had my battery go from 100% at 2:30 am last night down to 1% at 7:30am. I almost overslept. I'm gonna try a few things, but I really an wondering if I need to set it up as a new phone rather than restore.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

I feel like my 4s battery is better than my 4 with same exact options selected. Brightness over halfway. Gps and all that on cept bluetooth and it will easily last me a day and a half with web browsing, music, games...

Today's results from a fresh charge, day started at 5:45am, phone died at about 7pm:
13 hrs standby
5 hrs use

I use Exchange push and get a ton of emails, have iCloud for backing up, iTunes match and photo streaming, reminders, find my phone and have location services all on. I was connected to wifi most of day. Also my office is in a poor cell area, so I'm constantly searching for sig throughout day. I have brightness set to about 1/3rd, but keep auto on. I could turn off a significant amount of stuff, but I would rather leave it all on and deal with less battery.

I think this is reasonable, but expect it to improve over the next few charge cycles. Typically my new iPhones start off poor and improve after first full week or two of charges. Plus the novelty of a new phone tends to increase your typical usage.
