Is anyone paying attention to the claimed USAGE numbers on your iPhone vs. your ACTUAL usage? Posting pics of your usage screen showing 6/7/8 hours of usage doesn't do any good unless you're certain you've actually USED your phone for that long.
I am certain my phone is lying about my usage. It was in standby most of the day after unplugging it from a full charge and claimed I had nearly 4 hours of usage by the time the battery was down to 50%. This wouldn't be bad battery life at all if I had actually USED the phone for anywhere near 4 hours. The reality is that the phone was in standby for all but about 1 hour TOTAL during which time I made a 24 minute phone call, did a few emails & texts and not much more.
Something is up with the "usage" number for sure. Perhaps something is running in the background that's causing the extra usage and therefore the battery drain. Unfortunately, I've done a DFU restore and turned almost everything off that's been recommended in any thread, so I don't know what could possibly still be causing the background usage.
Please pay attention to your usage - particularly actual usage vs. claimed usage!
Suffering the same phantom usage here so have been doing a little digging. If I take the phone off charge and sit it unused on the desk beside me and then check usage after 1 hour; the Phone will have racked up 28-31 mins of usage for every hour of sitting on the desk.
So something is causing this usage,
First clue is visible under Settings -> General -> About -> Diagnostics & Usage -> Diagnostics & Usage Data...
In here an awdd metriclog is being generated every 30 seconds when in standby, this contains a wifi latency metric.
Second clue required the purchase of an App that gave access to the phones System Log.
Checking the syslog for a period of time the phone was in standby shows the device waking up wifi every 30 seconds an running for a number of seconds before sleeping to restart again at the next 30 second wake up.
Third clue was to check the syslog on a 3G iPad running iOS 5
This also wakes up wifi but every 15 mins not every 30 secs!
Looks like an iOS bug to me so hopefully we'll get a software fix soon.
The other night at 1% the phone stayed on for much longer than it should have.

What are peoples thoughts on this useage?
Pretty standard IMO
Mostly apps, browsing, afew calls, quite alot of iMessage/texts
Earlier today I decided to restore my phone to factory settings and set it up as a new phone to see if it helps with the battery. Well it appears to have worked wonders for my phone and made the battery life stableize. I've used the phone now for browsing the web, playing with apps, and looking at photos, etc and the battery level is at 82% as of right now. Otherwise it would drop more than 50% in in just a few hours with less useage. So I am much happier to say the least, anyone else have the same results/luck?

Your thoughts on my battery?
Just for you people thinking iCloud is the culprit, for my iPad 2 this isn't the case btw. iCloud is enabled on my iPad 2, the battery was at 45% at 5PM. Now it's 11PM and it's only at 42%. From 5PM to 11PM it was in stand-by.

iPad 2 has a battery almost FIVE times the size of the iPhones battery... of course it's not going to show as big of a hit as the iPhone does.
iPad 2 battery = 6930mAh
iPhone 4 battery = 1420mAh
So if the iPad 2 has a battery 5x the size of the iPhones and lost 3% over 6 hours while in standby...
... that should equal a loss of 15% on the iPhone over 6 hours of just stand-by!!!![]()
I have a ton of those errors in my diagnostics. My old iphone 4 has maybe 20-30.. My iphone 4s has probably a few hundred. Something's definitely up.
What's the name of the app you got that checks the system log?
