There is no such a thing as battery gate...

Yes there is a bug in Location/System Services/Setting Time Zone which if is on ,drains battery.

Also I advice to change in email settings Fetch New Data for manually, this will also improve battery life.

And after this I left the house yesterday (31.10) about 9 am whith 100 % battery, now (1.11) today 8 pm I have 1%, durning this time I receive over 25 email, over 20 eBay notifications, installed updates, been about 6 hours on wi-fi in standby mode, I been using twitter maybe about 2 hours on 3g, browsing some internet, and having about 1h conversation on the phone, and about 1h my Skype was on.Also about 7 hours I been listening audiobook.

And only durning this time today in the morning my phone was on the dock and battery charge up from 55 % up to 62 %.

Durning the night phone was on fly mode.

.

Oh yes, batterygate is real. I thought this was settled weeks ago? Goes to show you what happens when you tune out for a while :)

There's a rogue background process going on. My original 4S had it, my wife's didn't. Exhausted every possible setting, configuration, etc. I lost 6-8% on standby and the phone constantly ran in use without ANY apps or e-mail accounts, very similar to this:

https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/2...one-4s-owners-to-address-battery-life-issues/

I even set up a test with my wife's 4S (no battery issue) and mine. Was able to replicate. Got a replacement, and it works as expected.

So yes, Batterygate is real for some users, and no combination of settings/time zones/whatever other band aid fix you can throw out there will stop it.

----------

If you want to exchange your phone, how does the Genius analyze your battery issues or does he just take your word and swap your phone since it seems to be a mass issue?

I replicated it for the Apple Store genius by showing him a standby drain with most stuff off, and they replaced it with little hassle.

Usually I don't have an issue, but whenever I go somewhere with poor service (i.e. classrooms) it seems to drain the battery.

This seems below average to me, I only sent and received a couple messages. No calls or browsing and I have several battery drainers off (email set to manual, time zone, location reminders etc)...

Extrapolate and I'd get almost 2 hours usage and 23.5 hrs standby.

"Batterygate"? What "batterygate"? I'm getting >2 full days out of a charge, and although I'm not glued to the thing, use it on wifi and 3G pretty often throughout the day.

The only things I have turned off are diagnostics & usage and setting time zones in location services.

warrant looking go get a new phone...

Does the usage below warrant looking to get a new phone...
I was not concerned until I started seeing some post here where people are getting 12 hours of usage and now there is one with 1 DAY USAGE and 2 DAYS STANDBY...

Looks like I am having issues, as well.

I have a ATT 4 and a Verion 4S that I finally activated last night.

After a few hours the 4S is down to 80%. The 4 is still at 98%. Haven't done much on either phone.

thats fake. Clearly not showing the bottom of it because it says it has been plugged in but not fully charged.

I can literally watch mine drop.

If I take a subway ride (NYC) i lose at least 5% per ride

But, right now I've gone down to 66%, with 2h23m usage and 3h53mins standby. Kinda crazy.

I NEVER thought I'd say this, but my Droid Incredible (known for its horrendous battery life) had better performance. And I don't even use this thing much.. just for the odd game of Word's With Friends and I play music when I'm on the subway.

I've been reading these posts about the battery and it really confuses me. My iPhone 4S and my wife's (Both 16 GB AT&T) have absolutely no battery issues whatsoever. In fact, my battery life is awesome and has been a huge upgrade from my 3GS which would burn through battery.

Perhaps it has something to do with non-AT&T phones? (Dont know, haven't read every single post)

With something that drastic, I'd try some of the fixes first. Turn off the Time Zone setting. Also, try "Reset All Settings" from within the Settings>>General>>Reset menu. If that doesn't work, then try plugging into iTunes and doing a factory restore.

My AT&T 4S usually loses about 5% overnight when it has a wi-fi connection. It loses it faster at the office when it is polling (and I have a bad data connection), but nothing like what you are experiencing.

Hopefully Apple comes out with a software fix soon.

Not fake — yes, plugged in for less than a minute to sync a pic to iPhoto, but not for any lengthy additional charge. Currently up to 1 day 1 hour usage/2 days 2 hours standby and 6% battery left. I'm averaging 2 days standby between full charge/discharge.

Well using it for mp3 with Bluetooth headphones I get decent battery life but just having the screen on doing SMS I see the points dropping. The phone seems to take more time per point the lower the battery gets.

I can get days out of "standby", no probs. But usage time seems between 6:30 and 7:30 hours depending on what exactly I'm doing.

I honestly don't think the battery problem is as bad as this forum makes it out to sound like. Seems nearly EVERYONE gets around 6 hours of use, and with that many people all getting the same sort of result, you sort of have to think that might just be the phones natural grove.

People getting 10, or 20 hours of use out of their phone are lying, it's simply impossible. Unless their idea of use is playing MP3's with everything else turned off (screen, 3G, wifi, bt, location, etc)

It seems that you and I are both experiencing the same thing. It must be when the phone is looking for service/towers. I may try putting the phone in airplane mode and see what happens then...

So after looking at a few posts, I'm pretty concerned. Two days ago, the battery life was great. I got about 4 straight hours of use on a train switching between wifi and 3G, but the last few days my battery life has been very poor. I got about 3 hours of usage, with extremely fast dropping on standby. Today started off a lot better after a full restore, but it dropped significantly faster after 75% for some reason. Now its reading 7% with 3 hours and 45 minutes of usage and 11 hours and 35 minutes of standby.

Yes sir, if you're in an area where service comes in and out constantly, your battery will drain at a rapid pace. For instance, if you're driving a county road somewhere and your signal cuts in and out, you'll likely end up with a dead battery.

Kick it to Airplane mode until you get off the subway.

So who's contemplating handing the 4s back come Nov 14th if there is no acknowledgement by apple or no fix?

Your own anecdotal experience may not mirror the experiences of the other millions of iPhone 4S users...just a thought.

Hi,
I suffer from sucky horrid battery issues I hate it so much almost feel like using my 4 again. I bought the 4s 32gb white iPhone. Ore order received on launch day. Since first day of ownership no charge over 8 hrs with normal use. I think thats crazy I rarely call people. Maybe send 100-150 txt a day. And email light web surfing. I feel like selling my 4s and waiting for next iPhone right now. Also never use wifi

Sorry, but those numbers are impossible without an additional charge of the battery.
