Doesn’t an App have to ask permission to use your camera or location, not to mention you can turn off an apps ability to use those features?

did that stop facebook from listening to your conversations?

There is a third party FaceID API (just as they demo'd with snapchat on the keynote). That means all the apps with ads will know if you looked away! You will be forced to face the ad to continue otherwise it will just pause!!

Really disappointed with the iPhone X! What a mess!
Proof? Is this still going?

It’s ok people, here’s a picture demonstrating how to block the ad even with FaceID activated.

It's why I avoid social media apps. I mind when they are mining our info. Online and these devices are basically Infoquito from Futurama.

Yeah, I'm aware Google is guilty as charge. Android is dubbed spyware. I use Google Photos knowing they own my photo like Facebook. Face ID could also be dubbed NSA spyware.

I basically just buy ad-free apps now. Nomore free crap. Pay up. Those ad-supported feel like spyware already. You try to play a free game when it really is is a commercial for other apps.

You won't have a choice, it will be companies like facebook, snapchat, instagram
I mean you do have a choice. . . . just dont use them. But then again, the ads are there on scroll. You scroll right past them anyway. So what do you feel will change here with face id exactly?
Unless OP is a highly known app developer, I raise the BS flag

Not too concerned about this.

Any app that does this will be uninstalled by pretty much anyone and will be excoriated in the reviews. App developers wont be incentivized to do it.

OP should've worded things differently to get his point across better but he has a very strong one.

Face ID can indeed be used for these kind of practices and it certainly is something to think about.
And people have choices as to whether or not to use such Apps. Practices like this, if they ever occur, won't last long if users don't approve.

Pretty simple really.
