I'm obviously too old for this stuff, because the first thing I asked is "who the heck is Drake?"...![]()
I feel like people who don't like mainstream music are failing to realize it's hard to not put the most main stream music upfront first because well it's the most popular.
"I'm so mad it's hard to find music that no one else listens to"
Unless you're hankering for Gardners' Question Time.there is no real need to listen to "radio".
How's it on me again? You were the one that posted the Kate Smith quip. My response was to that, not Beats 1. Also see my post directly below yours regarding Apple knowing the market. You'll see your post to me was made defensively and in haste.
I havee iTunes on Windows and it has a jazz genre in the app. Maybe your app needs to be updated?
Also, as mentioned above, the jazz genre also appears in the app on my iPhone.
Good.
Now, may we have some new Macs? Please..?
Wrong again. Those were your thoughts and conclusion. Seems a nerve was touched and you were defensive in your first reply.
I assure you no nerve was touched. You simply are not close enough to me to have that affect on me.
But regarding your original post and my response to it let me color-by-numbers it for you.
1. You posted that anyone who complained about the content of Beats 1 wished for Kate Smith.
2. You then reiterated your thought by posting Kate Smith album art
None of that is me. That's your thought. That's why my 2nd post to you asks why you think it's on me. I truly didn't understand. But from there...
I think it reasonable to infer from your post that you think that anyone who doesn't like the content on Beats 1 must only like the style of music of Kate Smith. My post is to that sentiment and your snarky tone -- one that ignores the oodles of other music genres besides what is played on Beats 1 and American Standards (the genre Kate Smith fits into). I'm not sure why that truth upsets you. If you struck a nerve it's that your post ignores music diversity and criticizes people for having different music tastes than what is played on Beats 1.
Agreed, Beats 1 is not for everyone, and my post below your original one attests to that fact. In that post I also noted that Apple is going after a certain demo -- one that actually spends money on music. Of course they are not going after aging Gen-Xers like me that spend a pittance on music. I doubt Apple would get as many streams playing 1980/90s Alt Rock. I mean those are Golden Oldies these days that are no longer Alt and played in elevators and shopping malls now.
It may be the biggest, even though it's not backed up, but it isn't the best, where's the variety? Nowhere, that's where.
Don't call Mac a dead horse.Sigh. Couldn't even go one comment before someone started flogging this dead horse.
Damn, I guess I am a walking zombie as I listen to Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Vivaldi, Haydn.....I'm obviously too old for this stuff, because the first thing I asked is "who the heck is Drake?"...![]()
Lol!
I feel you both.
I mean... I'm not THAT old (have yet to reach the big four oh) & I love music.
I've seen over 250 bands live... from Nirvana to Die Antwoord to Norah Jones to Anthrax to Beastie Boys to Joanna Newsom, etc.
In the last few years I've attended festivals like OutsideLand in SF, SXSW in Austin, & Sasquatch, in Washington state (the Gorge @ George!)... as well as attending local shows as mainstream as Lana DelRey at the Hard Rock, to little underground rap shows like Aesop Rock, also here in Florida.
I consider myself fairly hip to the music scene- most genres: yet, I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to even a single song by "that kid from DeGrassi". It almost worries me... like "what if he's actually good & I'm missing out?!"
Lol, it's the same effect as "whitewashing" in movies to me.... erasing all the beautiful diversity that IS music & replacing it w/ Drake & Taylor Swift.
No thanks. I'll stick with my carefully curated Pandora stations, that I can often listen to for hours on end without feeling like skipping a single track.
Question, What ever happened to the other Beats channels that Apple were supposed to release?
Did they fall off the radar when the fad and fashion executives moved over to TV shows?
