Huh, going by the article it should be renamed Drake 1. All Drake, all the time.

Great for those that like this kinda thing. IMO Beats 1 is almost insultingly bad.

I agree - radio stations that only ever play music that I like are the best, and the rest are terrible, because people who don't like the same music I like are insultingly awful people. :p

I feel like people who don't like mainstream music are failing to realize it's hard to not put the most main stream music upfront first because well it's the most popular.

"I'm so mad it's hard to find music that no one else listens to"

Haven't tried Beats radio and it seems I haven't missed anything, as I can see from comments. Another generic radio station with the same artists, same songs as any mainstream radio. Like I haven't got chance to hear Twenty One Pilots, Hurt, Nicki Minaj already like 8 times today from 3 different radio stations..
Do they really think, that it is 1960s and we all sit around "radio" waiting for that one really rad song from school dances? I think, that majority of people have at least 3 devices, that they can pull out or pull up and listen to anything anytime and there is no real need to listen to "radio".

How's it on me again? You were the one that posted the Kate Smith quip. My response was to that, not Beats 1. Also see my post directly below yours regarding Apple knowing the market. You'll see your post to me was made defensively and in haste.

Wrong again. Those were your thoughts and conclusion. Seems a nerve was touched and you were defensive in your first reply.

Question, What ever happened to the other Beats channels that Apple were supposed to release?
Did they fall off the radar when the fad and fashion executives moved over to TV shows?

I havee iTunes on Windows and it has a jazz genre in the app. Maybe your app needs to be updated?

Also, as mentioned above, the jazz genre also appears in the app on my iPhone.

It shows up fine for me....

Good.
Now, may we have some new Macs? Please..?

"NO! We have the biggest radio station instead, a watch and another smart phone... we know you do not need any of them and all of them are useless so... deal with it! They are meant for you to show off, for your ego. You do not need to be a productive individual anymore, that si what the market is telling us."

I assure you no nerve was touched. You simply are not close enough to me to have that affect on me.

But regarding your original post and my response to it let me color-by-numbers it for you.

1. You posted that anyone who complained about the content of Beats 1 wished for Kate Smith.

2. You then reiterated your thought by posting Kate Smith album art

None of that is me. That's your thought. That's why my 2nd post to you asks why you think it's on me. I truly didn't understand. But from there...

I think it reasonable to infer from your post that you think that anyone who doesn't like the content on Beats 1 must only like the style of music of Kate Smith. My post is to that sentiment and your snarky tone -- one that ignores the oodles of other music genres besides what is played on Beats 1 and American Standards (the genre Kate Smith fits into). I'm not sure why that truth upsets you. If you struck a nerve it's that your post ignores music diversity and criticizes people for having different music tastes than what is played on Beats 1.

Agreed, Beats 1 is not for everyone, and my post below your original one attests to that fact. In that post I also noted that Apple is going after a certain demo -- one that actually spends money on music. Of course they are not going after aging Gen-Xers like me that spend a pittance on music. I doubt Apple would get as many streams playing 1980/90s Alt Rock. I mean those are Golden Oldies these days that are no longer Alt and played in elevators and shopping malls now.

I'm not here just to hate but I've been casually following Apple over the past few years and it seems to me like all they are boasting about is expanding into China and India as well as the deal with Dr Dre's company. I honestly have no idea what Apple is doing anymore with their hardware line. They've axed the AirPort line, spec upgrades across the board, and we haven't seen a proper Mac in ages. OS releases are just emoji/social media integration. Okay maybe I was just here to hate... or just vent.

I been with AM for 6 months so far and I keep forgetting there even is a Beats 1 station. Who cares when you got access to millions on on demand songs and albums.

A lot of stuff Beats 1 plays isn't my cup of tea, but I've discovered a whole lot of good stuff too.

Also, it's not the same music 24/7.

They have a schedule with a variety of shows hosted by a variety of artists. These vary from the hip-hop that's universally hated by the MacRumors peanut gallery, to shows curated by people like Elton John and Joshua Homme.

Personally, I love Soulection Radio, which is two hours of nice downtempo beats, Hyper House with Anna Lunoe, and Matt Wilkinson's show featuring the newest indie.

Of course, if all you like is country or j-pop, I guess you're out of luck. No shows for that.

Just more defensiveness on your part. My original post, a few minutes before yours, apparently shook you. If I had known that could have happened and elicited your response I wouldn't have posted. Obviously no personal intent on my part.

It tjugguuh wagga wham dang woahw oaaah we're ze best.
(behind every beat I see/hear Eddy Cue, Iovine, Drake or any perishable combination of those. Aarrrgh!)

It may be the biggest, even though it's not backed up, but it isn't the best, where's the variety? Nowhere, that's where.

Christ, if you don't think Zane Lowe plays variety and isn't an eclectic radio DJ there's no hope for you.

Lol!
I feel you both.
I mean... I'm not THAT old (have yet to reach the big four oh) & I love music.
I've seen over 250 bands live... from Nirvana to Die Antwoord to Norah Jones to Anthrax to Beastie Boys to Joanna Newsom, etc.
In the last few years I've attended festivals like OutsideLand in SF, SXSW in Austin, & Sasquatch, in Washington state (the Gorge @ George!)... as well as attending local shows as mainstream as Lana DelRey at the Hard Rock, to little underground rap shows like Aesop Rock, also here in Florida.
I consider myself fairly hip to the music scene- most genres: yet, I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to even a single song by "that kid from DeGrassi". It almost worries me... like "what if he's actually good & I'm missing out?!"
Lol, it's the same effect as "whitewashing" in movies to me.... erasing all the beautiful diversity that IS music & replacing it w/ Drake & Taylor Swift.
No thanks. I'll stick with my carefully curated Pandora stations, that I can often listen to for hours on end without feeling like skipping a single track.

This is the most arrogant, hipster thing I've ever read. You know enough about Drake to know that he was on DeGrassi but think claiming that you've avoided ever hearing one of his songs during the last decade makes you sound cool? No one cares what you listen to or what you like. But enjoy your "carefully curated" Pandora stations that play the same 15 songs on repeat.

I'm obviously too old for this stuff, because the first thing I asked is "who the heck is Drake?"... o_O

Says the forum member with the Magnum P.I. avatar.

God I've always wanted a red Ferrari. I thought that car was beautiful.

To anyone who is happy listening to Beats 1, I'm happy for you. But I'm still not interested.

I love Beats 1! Specially Chart, Request, Beats 1 LA, New York, London and Julie Adenuga's show.
