Attack the source instead of the content? What does that prove? You can Google and find other objective reviews from other companies too...
It makes perfect sense why Apple is buying Beats. Apple could have bought Bose, or just about any other headphone manufacturer. But they went for the most popular, not the best in some peoples eyes, but the most popular. You can't walk into a gym, school, airport, beach, downtown area, without seeing someone with Beat's headphones. Its $$$ and lets be honest, thats what it's all about these days. How to make more money. 3.2B is nothing for Apple to aquire a huge money maker. With Dre and Iovine still overseeing things it sounds like, hopefully the headphones will continue on a strong path. I'm ready for an iTunes revamp. I hate the layout since it's changed.

Oh shut up. You clearly have never listened to good rap music. Is there bad rap music? Of course there is. Is bad rap music sometimes popular? Of course. Can you really say anything different about other gneres of music? Is there bad pop, country, alternative, electronic music? YES. Just because you have a narrow minded view of what constitutes music, don't belittle entire genres or fans of that genre. You just sound pretentious.
No... just trying to give you an hint... you want to look at reviews? Look at people who specialize in that field! Another clue... google reviews from audiophile magazines on what they say about this.
Hip-hop is mainstream. Rock is dead. Indie got boring. This is a great move.
So what happened to Jony Ive frequent statements that Apple build the best products they can? Beats headphones are overpriced and poor quality. They only sell because of the anti-establishment brand image. How will they keep that as part of Apple? I agree with the people above, this acquisition makes no sense. They should have acquired Bose or Sony which would bring seriously good products and lots of tech knowledge and patents. It makes perfect sense why Apple is buying Beats. What's really sad is people thinking this is a good idea because it will make Apple popular with urban youth.
If this turns out to be true all I can say is Jony please retire while you still have some integrity left (and before the ship sinks).

Which is what many people would say about apple.
This discussion does nothing to change that perception - it's just that now it seems that some people are concerned that the fashion value of their apple products, might be degraded by the association with Beats and Dr. Dre.
You dared to mention the words "Technology" in tandem with beats?
Perhaps best summed up by this article..

You dare to send me to look at offensive articles that begin:
And continue:
And you expect me to take your opinion seriously? Really?!
Dr. Dre has amassed a fortune the likes of you and I can only dream of. And he's done it through hard work over many years, using his business acumen and talent. Pure and simple.
As a black male I have to say I'm dismayed by the racist undertones and comments surrounding this story - both here on Macrumors and elsewhere on the net. That the saintly white Apple brand can't possibly be 'tarnished' by a black man. Even though that black man probably has a net worth of over $500 million and has more business savvy in his little finger than many others.
Oh well - I guess some things will never change.
RTP.
Maybe in the US but not here in Europe where it is very much a niche. Dance music is the most popular here.
Now there's a first, both the words good and rap in the same sentence.![]()
Why wouldn't it? Shoddy headphones whose only redeeming factor is the name "beats" on it.
And Dr... is seriously an affront to people who worked hard to earn that!
As someone said here earlier... Google buys Nest and Apple buys beats. Who would have thought Google would make the classy choice in choosing an acquisition thats both innovative and functional?
I hate to say this and have refrained from saying this before but now Its hard to resist.."Steve Jobs would never have touched that brand with a stick"!
You say its about the music subscription service? Then Pandora or Spotify would have been a better or yet the best choice!
A Dr Dre keynote speech would be interesting.
Is that some US point of view? I can not name any other region in the world where hip hop is mainstream : Asia, nope, Middle East no way, Africa, not the case, Europe, hopefully not. The more I think about it, the more it looks like a US acquisition for US people.
I've never read a single review which said anything different and I would agree with them but hey Apple headphones have never been any good anyway so I guess nothing will change.Your opinion, not every ones.
