For folks complaining about audio the Beats X has the Apple W1 chip which makes it the best in the industry period for AAC bluetooth. I personally prefer AirPods but the ignorance here is stunning.

Now here's innovation Apple style. Truly Timmy's Apple at its finest. Who needs up to date macs, folding tablets, and swappable SSD when you can put beads on headphones.

A true technological wonder. Timmy should be so proud. I bet Samsung execs are cowering in a meeting room somewhere right now trying to figure out how much this will damage them.

Apple's management team needs big bonuses for this.
Dont like it, dont buy it. Btw the T2 chip on mac makes SSDs much more secure. You can easily connect external SSDs with USB 3 or Thunderbolt.

Peace Out, Man!;) Or maybe these are "worry beads" worried they won't sell more than 2. Okay one more Prayer beads, hoping they sell more than 3. Sorry for snarking out.

How about actually fixing the quality? Ie Bluetooth that doesn’t die, ear locks that don’t break, add some seat resistance.

Maybe Timmy will buy one for Angela as a parting gift. Even the most zealous fans here defending it don't seem that interested in buying it.

I love my beats X and don’t care much about the design of these, if people think it’s fashion than that’s their thing.

But is this the right way to go? Is Apple/Beats becoming the Bugatti of consumer electronics? Making overpriced special editions to sell aging hardware that should have seen a hardware refresh instead of an artsy makeover?

They still call Beats by fake Dr. Dre? I thought they already dropped the naming scheme of fake Dr. and just use Beats instead.

I’m out of the loop. Has Apple done anything to improve the sub par sound hardware standards of the Beat brand? Or are they still selling $80 headphones for $299?

Sad to say , Nope, beats is more terrible now than before ,imho.

And don’t worry about price, Since LV came out with their own “AirPods” ...maybe Apple will get it in their head to price the same way ...LOL

That's the ugliest pair of headphones I have seen in a while.

Good god man....don’t provoke them !

It might get worse ! Might be there will Apple Watch straps with beads next ...

This is one of those collaborations where teams from both companies hate it, and go home each day and take an hour long shower, but the internal exec driven 'lets do X' groundswell is unstoppable. And unfortunately, one day, the product gets to market.

Maybe this is the real reason Angela Ahrendts quit..

Exactly. The Japanese have strange taste. If they move even a few million dollars of these in profit it is worth doing. I haven't lived in Japan for awhile but am guessing there are other products that have this look. Japan had the strangest fashions I have ever seen in my life. This is what the Beats brand is for.

Buy according to the article , they will sell in in pop up stores in France.

Designed by Japanese and sold in France.......

Guess not even the Japanese would wear these ...So Apple is targeting the French ?

According the majority of people here, no. But Beats has done this in the past when they were independent, Apple did something similar with the iMac G3 in February and July of 2001 when the iMac G4 was set to release in January 2002, and other audio companies have released special collaborations with designers before. Bose, Sony, V-Moda, Audio-Technica (they partnered with Casio to emulate their G-Shock watches with headphones and later partnered with Master Piece to make headphones influenced by other watches), and many others have all collaborated with designers, celebrities, and/or other companies focusing on the design of their products instead of releasing new generation hardware.

I'm seriously surprised at all the people complaining about these when they aren't even going to be sold worldwide and are popping up in a country that most of the people here don't live in. Yeah, they look terrible but so what? Don't buy them? It's also not like this took extra resources from Apple that they could have put towards making a folding iPhone. Beats is a different department and operates on its own. People complaining for the sake of complaining.

Maybe I was mistaken. However my point stands if they can off load a few million bucks worth of these things under the Beats brand then money is money.

We all know why this Japanese brand likes beaded headphones.
