I don't like Beats either and I agree they are some cheapo plastic products but I would choose them in a heartbeat over these. I'm speaking about looks only.

Thats not the normal color, you can customize them now on that page. Mine were only available in black or white/silver and I bought those pink plates to replace the silver ones. :D

Thanks for your helpful comments so far regarding daughter wanting Beats Headphones. I agree with you that making decisions on behalf of the image conscious is a dangerous sport, or at least a costly one.

When I asked if they were good headphones I was thinking about the loss in quality that comes with a wireless connection. as the bit rate transfer is inferior to a wired connection. Apple have always been masters at making software work reliably with hardware, save recent events, I wonder if they had focussed yet on making the intersection between an iPhone and the wireless receiver the best it could possibly be. Or whether in fact they overlooked optimising the streaming between their devices.

The last review I read on wireless headphones was 'don't!' They are not good enough yet, has Apple raised the bar?

If she likes pink, show her the headphones I have ;) (also available as wireless now). I tried Beats in the same price segment before and the sound of mine is 1000x better. Also those rose gold plastic things look really unstylish and ugly compared to that:

As much as I respect vmoda, you don't have a teenage daughter do you?

They want "Beats" because it's "Beats" and after having tried the solo2 I suspect the solo2 sounds "1000x worse". The first beats? Yeah, just about anything would sound 1000x better than that junk.

Forkhandles,
Just give them a try at the Apple Store and see for yourself. If that's not enough read this

Btw, I'm no beats promoter. I despised the solo 1, and currently don't even own a single Beats headphone.

No I don't have a teenage daughter, but I often feel like I am one, regarding the things I own have to look. :D

Just found my order what I sent back immediately to Amazon and bought those V-Moda instead:

I was thinking of getting these headphones because they look nice and are from Apple. But when doing some limited research I found that you can only PAIR to one device at a time. My plan was to mostly use them with the ATV 4 but sometimes use them with my iPad while traveling. I was originally going to go with BOSE. My understanding is that the BOSE allow to PAIR 2 devices at a time. This seems to be a better option for me. However, I think my wife would like the look of the Beats and I am fine with either Beats or Bose. But want to know if I am making to big a deal out of the PAIRING.

I guess Apple was out of ideas in 1999 and 2008 as well?

I don't think they've run out of ideas. However this isn't a good analogy. Especially the first example. What made Apple unique many years ago was offering computers in fun colors when every other manufacturer was pretty much using black, white, gray and silver. These days - computers, tablets, phones, etc come in many colors.

Careful samcraig, Rogifan is the king/queen of the false equivalency. This is the kind of reductive thinking (lacking in nuance and historical context) that the Great Army of Apple Defenders (GAAD) will trot out onto any post that dares think critically of the Mighty Cupertonians!

My goodness, you guys are about the most complaining, whinny, Bunch ever. I mean literally every single thread in this forum is full of nothing but gripes and fuss, post after post after post. It doesn't matter the item or topic. It's gotten to the point now to where there is absolute no value in reading anything past the OP.

You're whining about other people whining LMAO.

You should buy them! Music is after all entertainment - so the best headphone is the one that brings the most enjoyment to the owner. It doesn't matter if they connect with the color, shape, or sound quality. The important thing it that they like it. What use is buying a great sounding headphone, if your daughter doesn't like the way it looks, and is less likely to wear it?

Beats have a bassy modern sound to them. They aren't the most accurate sounding - but that isn't the point of them anyway. Audiophiles get enjoyment out of owning the most accurate equipment, yet most recording studios use monitors like Yamaha NS10 that have an extremely uneven EQ. Ironically audiophiles with flat EQ headphones and speakers hear a sound that is drastically different to what the artist heard in the studio!

I've used lots of different studio monitors and headphones, and I like beats headphones for their fun, bassy sound.
This is a perfect answer. Not only do you give an honest and helpful review (minus any rant, nag or flame) but point out rightfully that headphones have become an accessory to be worn and seen as much as listened to and enjoyed. When you get a wishlist, don't micromanage or technobabble their choice into something *you* would prefer ... just follow the instructions, give them what they want and make everyone happy. Save your own preferences for your own purchases.

Those look FUGLY! Down right geekish. Beats knocked it out of the park with looks and style. Most geeks don't get or understand style so the circle of life continues.

Is it just me, Or has Apple finally ran out of ideas and just makes everything in different colors now? Maybe we'll see a new Rose Gold iMac next?

I'm surprised we don't have Space Grey/Gold/Rose Gold MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs and iMacs yet. Although there also isn't a Rose Gold MacBook yet either. They could have done a silent release of that. 'Now available in Rose Gold'

I can't help but imagine Jony wearing a rose-gold robe in his house with rose-gold walls, ceiling, furniture, and all rose-gold apple devices.

That's not the point at all. There's a difference between artificially refreshing a product by making it available in new color options and having many color options from launch.

Too bad they're so damn uncomfortable. Got the blue pair as a gift, the sound quality is good but I can't wear them for more than 20 minutes without them hurting my head and ears. I think they're too tight, especially if you wear glasses. Also make my ears super hot. I also notice hiccups with the sound when using with my i6.

I was wondering how long it would take for them to get these going. I got my gold ones several months ago now and have not looked back ... albeit partly because if I do, the audio tends to stutter, the joys of Bluetooth :).

I definitely preferred the colour palette of the old iMacs - proper tangerine and grape would be fantastic on headphones! - but gold is a really nice option, especially with the matte finish. And if I ever go back to iPhone - like if Windows 10 Mobile is as lame as Windows 10 itself - it's nice to know I can match!

Came for the "AAPL calls this innovati0n?!? SNARK" and was not disappointed.

I remain happy that MR posts this kind of info. My wife mentioned wanting a pair as a gift. I'm not going to check Apple's store every day or week but this lets me know about a new option that I think my wife will love.

As for the innovation grumbling...we all know Apple does not and can not release a brand new item every two months. They never will, but I hope those comments/commenters go away.

Do they sound good with all types of music or just certain types of music? I have a pair of Motorhead phones and they sound better with rock music.
