Is it just me, Or has Apple finally ran out of ideas and just makes everything in different colors now? Maybe we'll see a new Rose Gold iMac next?

It is you, totally you. What can be more revolutionary than a pink headphone?

Can't innovate anymore my ^%*

If we the world, recicle as much as Hollywood and Apple there would be no pollution.

Their latest idea was a watch... So I'm fine with them sticking to paint jobs of current products.

Can't wait for WWDC 2016 - Rose Gold (read: pink) Mac Pro and iMac

I'm glad it's not just me, I definitely see these as pink. As hard as I try I can't see the relationship to gold at all!

The solo 2 is a good headphone, though the Apple are developing the Beats range at the same pace as the ipod range .... Innovation via paint jobs.

I'm thinking a metallic light blue in 2016...

I love getting those exciting updates from MR! Can't wait for the thinnest ever Rose Gold iMac, our boring silver one is so 2000s.

(Jokes aside, last time I liked Apple colour innovations was iPhone 5c.)

But are they any good? My daughter fancies a pair but I just don't hear it.

If I want a phone I go to Apple, If I want a camera I go to Nikon, If I want headphones I go to Bose, I go to Sennheiser, I go to the people that know music and have a track record of creating devices for audiophiles.

I put this to my girl and she stared that stare, I knew that meant I was older than her and knew nothing of the real world.

So if I buy a pair of these for her Christmas pressie am I just throwing money away on £30 of tech and £200 of Rose Gold Beats branding. Or is the ratio more in the tech's favour?

The "urBeats" branding reminds me of Apple's "iEverything" branding. They could release an "urPhone" and an "urPad"!

You're spending money on her social acceptance of people who are highly superficial.
Either that or she just really loves the look of them, which would be a fair point, because besides all the things you can say about the bang/buck ratio, they do look clean and well designed.
With something you basically wear around your face a lot of your day's time out you want to make sure you like its look.

Would you wear an ugly hat because it's a bit warmer than one that you really love for its design?
I know I wouldn't.

Again, might be any of the two options, just talk to her and see if you get which direction she's leaning towards and adjust your decision accordingly.

Oh and pro tip:
Don't buy her an "alternative" if she only really really wants Beats, instead go for another item on her wishlist or find something else and leave it up to her and some work/saving up to get Beats herself.

You have a problem. My opinion is that those headphones are not that bad, but surely not worth the price they will ask you for. For the same money there are (in my opinion, don't forget) several better options. But we're talking about a daughter, Christmas time, pinkie colors so all the physical laws go astray. Follow your heart ;)
