Been to any concerts lately?

O.A.R. in Rochester, NY last week, and O.A.R. in Saratoga Springs at SPAC next week. Rochester was pretty good, but I'm super excited to see them at SPAC.
 
I went to the Welsh Proms on Friday night with my brother and dad, to listen to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Nicola Benedetti playing violin. My first 'live' experience of an orchestra, and they blew my mind!

My last 'rock' concert was to see Nicky Wire's first solo performance at the Wye Festival in June, he's a terrible singer, but was incredibly funny and charming between songs 😀
 
Saw Ween last week (sold out concert) ... my first show. Gotta hand it to those guys; never been into Ween much, but that was a damn good show. They have really dedicated fans. 😛

Hopefully im going to RHCP/Mars Volta here soon. Would also like to catch the Nickel Creek and Bitter Sweet shows as well.

my roommate loves ween. he likes to listen to them when he is.... 'psychadelically enhanced'
 
Just saw Earth, Wind and Fire for the second time on Sunday night...They were an awesomely fun time as always! I have pics on my Mac at home I may have to upload...not the best but the first time I was able to take a camera into that particular venue. 😀
 
Guns 'n Roses on July 12th... That was a really good concert but Axl got on the stage 2 hours late. There was a lot of booing around 🙂 Hate it when he does that...

"Show usually starts around seven, we go on stage around nine..."

That's exactly what happened 🙂 except that the shpw started around 9 and they went on stage around 11
 
Friday night at the Greek in Berkeley... Saw Broken Social Scene and Bloc Party. Both groups are so much fun live; a really fun show. 😀

Broken Social Scene... one of those bands that I've been meanig to listen to for a while but never have!

But I dig Bloc Party... sounds like an awesome show to me. How big was the venue?

BSS was sooooo neat live. My first time hearing their music, I've heard of them before, but yeah, definitely looking into getting some of their albums now. 😱

I actually don't care all that much for Bloc Party, at least, prior to the show 😛 but they are quite good live. Still n00bish as far as touring and whatnot, and they're so "sweet" to their opening bands, "Let's give 'em a round of applause... and this song's dedicated to them."

Except most shows are general admin only; so those folding chairs in the front aren't there. It's a relatively "intimate" venue; if you stand in the front, pit section, you can almost touch the people on stage. 😀

I was supposed to see broken social scene in October (I didn't come for them... but they were playing with Panic! At the Disco and Motion City Soundtrack), but for some reason they didn't show. IIRC, it was a tour bus issue... but I'm not sure.

That venue looks awesome though... the only con I see: it's outside, so I'm sure it's almost unbearably hot in the pit. But they have an awesome lineup of upcoming shows. Death Cab, Keane, Ben Harper... wow. I'm moving to California.

Eh, it's much better at outdoor venues than in indoor ones! Trust me on this, the indoor venues around here must not have working AC. 😛 I much more prefer outdoor venues since I'm not terribly fond of smoke and this way, the inevitable dense growth of smoke can drift away.

Yup. We have some great acts roll through around the bay area. And if you're willing to travel in-state, you can often follow a tour from norcal to socal. 😛
 
O.A.R. @ SPAC on Tuesday. I'm very excited. Hoping it is as nice as my trip to the Filene Center a couple years ago.

Recently saw Twisted Sister at the county fair..... Much beer + Dee Snyder + Leather pants = good time
 
I've just got back from the Big Chill festival. 3 days of chilled music, great atmosphere, in a good location. There was a fantastic variety of food too which is unheard of with most UK festivals!

Other than that, the last gig I went to was the Presidents of the USA gig at the Astoria, London. Awesome gig!
 
I haven't been to a concert in a few years. Back when I lived in DC I went to the 9:30 club and saw Iron Maiden. \m/ >.< \m/

I saw George and Caplin last week for a dollar. 🙂 Good show; really nice guys. They played for all six of us. 😛 I felt bad for them, but they played as if there was a full house. It was nice of them to not say, "Screw it…" and take off. 🙂 I got free CDs, but ended up giving them some $ so they could actually get something to eat. 🙄 … life on the road.

I caught a bit of NoW, they were good. I didn't see Jamie unfortunately, so I don't know if he was doing a Jazz vocal set, or one of his vocal mashup electronica sets 🙂 To be honest, I'm not really into his Jazz vocal sets. He is a phenominal singer and musician, but it's not quite my cup of tea. Still would have liked to have seen a few songs though.

Bands/artists I was impressed with were:
Nizlopi - just a singer/guitarist and a guy playing funky upright bass WHILE beatboxing... he's got some skills that boy 🙂
Coldcut - not a massive fan usually, but their set was unbelievable.
Fink - hadn't heard of them, but they blew me away.
Heratige Orchestra - again, not really my thing, but their cover of 4hero's Les Fleurs at the end of the festival was magical.
 
How's this then folks.

Madonna a couple of weeks ago in Cardiff, Wales. Paul Oakenfold warmed up for about an hour and a half.

I'm not much into Madonna, but seeing her is something my girlfriend was desperate to do. However, I have to say it was an amazing "show" even if her politics are B/S.

By the way US guys, what's all this fully seated arenas? Where's the mosh pit?!
