I saw the ceremony last night and it was EPIC. the beginning with the drummers was awesome.

I read that there are 70 to 80 Californians (those who live or train here) among the American athletes who are serious contenders for medals. Maybe they should count California as a country and see how well we do. The number of potential medals for our state rivals the total number of athlese from Bulgaria (72), Portugal (84), and Norway (91).

If California marched among countries in alphabetical order, we'd be between Burundi and Cambodia. But this year the order was based on the Chinese written forms of each name, not on the Roman alphabet, which I think made it much more interesting.

NBC coverage is absolute crap! Way too many commercials. 😡

Agreed. I liked the opening ceremony, but it would have been better without the awful commentary, the commercials every 3 minutes, the constant "checking-in-on-Bush" cuts during the walk every 10 minutes or so, and the ridiculing of some countries outfits.

You think a constant checking is every 10 minutes...😛..they only cut to him (guessing) 3 times and when the us came out, of course they were going to show him, he is the president.
