they've got another 7 tries to get it right. Really do think Phelps will win at least 7 gold and quite possibly the 8 he is going for.
Greece looked really tired in the 2nd half. Not the team from four years ago. Germany looked great. They are the team to beat thus far. Spain looked well. Kept up their hustle through the whole game. I'm not sleeping tonight because I want to watch the basketball games.

Wahooo, GB have just won their first gold medal. Nicole Cooke wins the women's road race in what can only be described as very very wet conditions.
4:37am here, but had to see if we could get our first medal. She timed it to perfection. Now, if the Brit girls can beat the French for the Archery Bronze it'll be a very good day.
She made quite a big break with about 22km to go, I was sat here thinking, Oh bugger, she's going to blow it. But no, she timed the finish to perfection.

I can't imagine how nervous I would be if I knew I had to hit a 10 with my last arrow.
It ended up being two - a french 7 became an 8 on that last end, it cut the line after the judgement.
Pity - here's hoping they can pick up another individual medal!

Yeah, I saw after I'd made my post and shut my computer down that there was a bit of a steward's enquiry. I was hoping that the French were going to get some points docked, but alas not.
Anyone think athlete interviewers are asking 1 too many questions? The athletes are still catching their breath and they keep asking another question. Also with basketball, they were asking sir james questions and it was clearly time to stop but the interviewer asked another question and messed it up, it's just so akward. I wish they would just ask 2 or 3 questions max and let them go.
One thing that China should have done was get between the U.S. players and the basket. We play aggressive and drive to the hole. One thing I have always been taught is to stand up, arms up and take the charge. I bet it could have worked for 'em. Can't wait for Tuesday.
They are asking some dumb questions. Think they should be able to ask a few after the event but maybe wait until they have recovered and let things sink in first before asking any more.
I was just watching (like 8 minutes ago) the coverage on NBC 4 (New York). While showing the trail for the women's bike marathon, they played a very good piece of music. It sounded like Pirates of the Carrabean, but with more flutes in it. (they actually used PotC for fencing). Does anyone know what music that was? (it was right before the Korean women knocked down like, 6 other women).

Perhaps not, but as their growth plates are still developing, you would think that more care would be taken, in submitting such a young child to the rigours of Olympic competition.
