No, It would be better if you could make the choice yourself: Some people would prefer it to be dark most of the time, others would like a constant display on while charging.

Software would make both possible.

They don't offer that option because it's a bad idea with OLED displays. Having it be on constantly will burn in on the screen and drastically reduce it's life.

Yes! MR land needs to know! So many shitt* kitties out there causing cat-tastrophes!

Don't scoff. One of the ways my cat tries to wake me up is by pushing my Watch off the nightstand and onto the wood floor. It's all I can do to ignore it to not train the cat that this works.

Maybe the $130 is a typo?

I could understand if the stand was $30.00.

I guess the people who buy this are the same ones who spend $40 for a charging cord + brick at the Apple Store rather than buying one on Amazon for $10.00.

It's about time for wireless charging. If my toothbrush can do it why can't the iPhone.

Since it charges both phone and watch via the included charger, that's $60-$70 alone for the charging support. Well, $60-$70 in Apple overpriced power adapter dollars at least.

Yeah, and those $10 ones are the ones you hear about on the news that start on fire. Most of those cheapies aren't UL certified.

I don't get how people spend $1000 on a camera or $500-$900 on a new phone, yet won't spend an extra $20 for the legit accessory. Yeah, they are overpriced, but most of the time, it's better in the long run.

I actually prefer the wire, It is much easier to use while plugged in than if it has to be sitting on a charging pad. Additionally, wireless chargers are extremely inefficient and I'd rather not waste the additional energy when it's really easy to just plug in a cable. The toothbrush has very little tech in it and a lot of extra room, so it isn't a bit deal to put it in there. With the phone it's a much bigger technical hurdle due to space.

Just playing :p. I'm always looking for an opportunity to use one of my kitty puns :D.

On another note, it sounds like your feline has a real cattitude problem.

You don't have to tap on the screen, It uses the accelerometer to detect any movement, so if you just touch the watch somehow it will activate. It works very well in my opinion.

You don't even have to touch the watch, touching / knocking on the nightstand somewhere lightly is already enough.

Nightstand mode on the Apple Watch has become my daily (well nightly) primary night watch with the mentioned W3 stand, as indeed I prefer total darkness when I sleep. And my iPhone is there for the alarm.

I would say love the Belkin equipment but I would invest the same amount in a Lumiy Lightline desk lamp with the USB charging. For a fraction of the price, you get Apple Watch charging a lamp that seems like it was made by Ivy himself!

You think I'm kitten you, but I am pawsitive this is an issue. I stopped using iphone docks when Apple switched to lightning because my cats would knock the phone over and they would run out of juice before the alarm went off.

130 lol's.
I like several of Belkin's products but 130 buckaroos seems definitely a lot of coin for this particular flawed product, with a limited lifespan, that only matches one of the available color choices for both the iPhone and the AppleWatch. To be fair, matching all the available colors, not to mention combinations thereof with both devices would be for all intents and purposes impossible.

Let's see if Twelve South or BlueLounge will come up with combo devices that support 'Nightstand Mode'.

you're so punny! Our exchange is quickly going off the rails so I will close it with this. Do yourself a favor and watch this video. Sounds just like your cat.

Ordered one today. Let's just say I did not pay 130

As far as nightstand mode r u kidding me that has to be the dumbest feature. It's not on all the time so what's the point. Use my cable box for that. Alarm is on my iPhone - has been.
The way I see it 20 for a lightning cable 30 more for another watch charging cable ...... Paid another 20 and I'm done.

But you don't need to tap the screen. Just tap whatever surface you put the watch on. I can't touch the screen from my bed but I can give my bedside unit a tap and it'll come on.

A nightstand clock should tell time, all the time. It should dim at night and be brighter in the day. One should not have to touch anything to find out what time it is.

That's the way my system works. The user sets the dim level, which kicks in at night and turns off in the morning.

If the watch screen is subject to burn in, that makes it unsuitable for any continual clock display.
