We need one for Apple Watches too. When you work out and your arm starts sweating the build-up sweat gets stuck under the Apple Watch. Thus giving a dirt smudges effect :(

I wash the nike bands with soap and water after each run. As for the watch itself, wipe the bottom with water and then rub with an alcohol swab. I haven’t worn my Apple Watch with me into the shower though.

…a gift for my colleague, i can’t unsee the amount of earwax on his airpods when it fell off accidentally. While mine is spotless, i have to clean or wipe it everyday…

🤦‍♂️ Only a few comments on cleaning out your ears regularly. Why is that not the first obvious thought? My mother taught me to clean my ears out at least weekly. Also helps hearing in general!

If the Pods do get waxed or dirty, then it’s isoporply/rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit and a lint free/microfibre cloth.

Both are cheaper than repeat buying kits, which ultimately are unnecessary and produce waste.

I wipe the grease off my AirPods with a tissue every time I put them back in their case, sometimes I stick a q-tip inside the rubber ear things.

why does a one-time cleaner cost $15?
This is ridiculously expensive
I bought the apple polishing cloth because I believe that I can protect the fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and also I can use it for 10 years.
I'm not a fan of this

So 15 bucks to do an easy job for a Q-tip and alchool that you most likely already have and/or costs much less.

Once a week I use white tack to clear the meshes and the microphone holes on my AirPods 3. Then I clean them with a cotton bud soaked in IPA.

I then clean the charging contacts on the buds and the ones inside the charging case with the cotton bud. By doing it regularly I very rarely have cases where I take the buds out of the case and find one of them hasn't charged.

The plastic waste on this product is absolutely horrendous, plus at $15 a pop, how often are they recommending you clean your Airpods? It's no wonder you'd need a product like this if you're leaving it so long you need to purchase such an expensive one time use product.

You undid your whole argument over the pricing of this when you then pointed out you were happy to buy the Apple Polishing Cloth - it's not some magical material that only Apple can produce, nor is it made from any expensive material that warrants such a high price tag. It's no different to anything you could have bought for a fraction of the price elsewhere. The difference here is one is made by Belkin, one is made by Apple. If this had had an Apple logo on it you'd have not turned your nose up at it either.

Both are awful concepts made to cash in on those who either have too much money to spare or can't manage their money properly - or fall for marketing ploys/brand allegiance and don't know any better.

Rubbing alcohol and q-tip, along with a needle if you have any particularly difficult to remove larger build ups within the mesh will do the job just fine for a fraction of the price.

As for cleaning your screens, any soft microfibre cloth would clean your screens just fine too - as with washing a car, it's not so much the tools you use but how you use them that will protect the surface you are cleaning, i.e. don't use the cloth for any other purposes, ensure you wash your cloth regularly, let it air dry by itself in a dust free area, don't throw it in the tumble drier with other items, remove any dirt, dust and debris by blowing on your screen (or compressed air) prior to wiping with a cloth, and only use cleaning fluids that are recommended for your screen type. Do that and your screens will remain pristine without having to pay Apple tax for a cloth.

Yeah, maybe ideally always use the rubbing alcohol (90%+ only) since it's non-corrosive.
Oh please no…
60-70% max as everything over it will affect rubber seals or layers protecting from color changes. Same goes of oleophobic coating which might be simply removed with too high alcohol.

You drink 70% and more, not dive your electronics in it :D

the Blu Tack Mounting putty method works wonders. I used Gorilla brand but cleaning out the upper mic on my AirPod Pros gen 1 completely removed the tunneling effect. Glad to see companies starting to recognize nasty earbuds can impact sound quality.

Didn't know there were different kinds of sweat. But it mostly builds up when you do cardio. Riding a bike, getting on a Stairmaster and such.
I always use alcohol wipes to wipe the Watch bottom side as bacteria indeed builds up. But never seen chunks of goo, then again I always wipe it after a workout.

Would be cheaper and easier to just make cleaning out your ear canals part of a daily hygiene routine.
You'd be surprised how many people don't clean their ears daily or regularly. Having seen the state of some people's earphones it's clear that some people just don't bother at all.

It's not goo, sweat contains salt, if you don't clean it away regularly you'll end up with a build of of white salt on the underside of your watch, mainly around the edge of the sensor in the gap and it'll prove difficult to get rid of.

I mean… a Q-tip, toothpick, and a bit of rubbing alcohol work just fine, as they are already in the house and cheaper.

No thanks.

My sons AirPods Pro accumulate an incredible amount of earwax in a very short time. I clean them regularly with Qtips, tooth picks, paper towel, and isopropyl alcohol.

What a time to be alive.

You go get it, Belkin. 👊

AirPods are nice but lately been wanting to switch to headphones for most things again. Having to discuss earwax cleansing, impacted wax, sometimes I pull em out and feel around to find a gob of wet wax in there from wearing em a while...it's kind of a gross product when you think about it.
