You've got to be kidding me. There must be a lot of gullible people out there.

What happened to wiping them off with a clean towel or microfibre cloth?

And any kind of (unused) cheap or expensive toothbrush is perfectly adequate to brush out anything stuck on the speaker grills and sensors.

Yes, this is a nice and convenient kit. I'd pay maybe $2 for it.

But $14.99? No.

I usually just give them a quick wipe before putting them back in the case. Rarely, I use a dental pick to pull out a bit of wax that lodged more deeply. My tips look like new.
Those dental picks are so useful for all kinds of little crevices. They come to a fine point and can reach lots of places, and bend easily, so they don’t damage anything.

I’d like to see a comparison of the Apple Polishing Cloth vs the Belkin Cleaning Cloth.
Apple's is definitely better. I own several of them for Pro Display XDR with nano texture.

Belkin's is just a generic micro-fiber cloth like those came with cheap sun glasses.

How are you “cleaning them out” without inserting anything into them, are you using gravity? Force of will?

Yes... gravity and willpower... along with what's called "ear irrigation". Part of basic daily hygiene. Can even be done in the shower by simply allowing some clean water into your ears every day. Google it. 🤷‍♂️

Blu Tack does the trick and is really cheap, never even thought of buying anything else

Oh please no…
60-70% max as everything over it will affect rubber seals or layers protecting from color changes. Same goes of oleophobic coating which might be simply removed with too high alcohol.

You drink 70% and more, not dive your electronics in it :D
That is true about rubber and alcohol. But you don't want to use anything below 90% on electronics. I'm talking logic boards, buttons, etc. Anything less than 90% can corrode.

And the heart rate sensor stops working as well too

@ProfessionalFan 100% agreed. Spot on!

SMH, had a killer work out. Total beast mode on a stair master for 1 hour or so. Tell me how I went from having 181 Heart rate to 67 all within a minute/seconds? Yes, my wrist was extra sweaty. I love my Apple Watch Ultra but after looking at this, this almost gave me a heart attack. So you are correct!

You heard it here first folks, water is not a thing.

Belkin this week announced the launch of a new AirPods Cleaning Kit, which is designed to remove earwax and dirt build-up from the earbuds to restore acoustic performance.

belkin-airpods-cleaning-kit.jpg

The kit is designed for the AirPods 1, 2, and 3 models, as these earbuds do not have silicone tips that protect them from exposure to earwax when in the ears.

Belkin's kit includes a cleaning brush, an earwax softening solution, cleaning gel, and a microfiber cloth. It seems to be designed to be a one-time use kit as the cleaning components are provided in small quantities, and the cleaning gel in particular says that it must be used within two hours of opening.

According to Belkin, wax and dirt build-up can impact sound quality, and the kit is able to remove up to 99 percent of materials that are clogging up the AirPods. The cleaning components are designed to be mess-free, and Belkin says that they will not damage the AirPods.

The AirPods Cleaning Kit is available from the Belkin website for $14.99.

Brushpicks (found in the dental section of most pharmacies) also work for this purpose.

I’m so glad that for my impossible to recycle AirPods I can buy a ton of packaging and plastic just to clean it with. When is the motorized UV light cleaner with home kit coming out?
Yup, really a tragic problem since no other in ear headphones ever get dirty and they’re all so easy to repair or recycle.
