They aren't on international flights every day. They don't go to rooftop parties and then hook up a charging pack and the put in headphones to "escape" from the electronic music.
It doesn't have to be something I do every day, just something I do sometimes that makes it important to me to be able to both listen wired and charge my phone.

This Rockstar should have stayed on the tour bus.

I guess it's ok - it's just a splitter, but now we're at a total of 50 additional dollars to listen to headphones and charge the phone.
How are you at $50. The lightning/3.5mm is included with the phone.

Oh thank goodness! Now to plug in my headphones and charge while driving, I just plug my headphones into my 3.5 to lightning adapter, plug my usb cable into my car charger, plug that usb into Belkin's new adapter, plug the 3.5 to lightning adapter into Belkins adapter, and plug Belkin's adapter into my phone.

Thanks Apple for working closely with Belkin on this solution to your courage!
I think it's illegal in most places to drive with headphones on.

someone needs to make a mockup of this so we can all laugh at it together
Heh, I'm sure someone will be in the process of that soon enough.

Clearly, this is going to be a transitional period in the mobile market until such time as this becomes the norm (if it becomes the norm).

People need to calm down about the audio jack removal. I mean, who is really crazy... the one who removed an ancient connector from their modern pocket computer, or the one who bought analog headphones for $350 now screaming and shoking... jeez.
All headphones as analog......

Yeay! $40 for something you can do for free on previous generation phones! Progress!

Back in the days you had to buy a floppy reader...or super disk USB......where is the floppy today?

Yes progress needs time and someone who pushes it!

I don't need this and I won't pay 40$ for it!
Most cars now have USB/iPod support which will use Lightening Connector for both charging/music, and Bluetooth will take care of phone calls, last time I used an aux cable in my car was on 2008 :)
The only adapter I will use is the lighting to 3.5mm when I'm using my Bose Headphones....

Wonder why they did not include a 3.5 mm jack in addition? Seems odd to need two adapters at this stage of product change.

I don't get it... Honestly I don't. Apple claims they want the "best user experience" possible. Dragging around a bag full of adaptors doesn't create such experience.

Also, why haven't they moved to USB-C port to allow for fast charging. Or offer wireless charging at this point. I am sticking with the iPhone 6S Plus. See no reason to "upgrade" at this point. The speed bumps are great, but do we honestly need more speed on the phone? No, we really don't need it.

While a model with Lightning + 3.5mm (like Apple's lightning cradle) would be best for headphones, a dual Lightning adapter would be extremely useful for other applications, like hooking up USB drives or MIDI equipment without running down the battery. It's not clear if this adapter will work with anything but audio devices, though.

3 months later after heavy usage ........

Wouldn't worry about him - anything to support Apple.

Meanwhile office workers and students who listen at their desk while charging will have to rearrange their lives around their device's battery because ol' Tim is sweating the asset until he cashes out.

Dreadful stuff and only the very worst fanboi can defend it.

No crap our family (of 4) upgrades every year all our phones - this minor headphone jack snafu put a stop for this year.

Now I need to carry 2 adaptors plus my aux cord (or headphones) and a phone.... great! Can someone just make something that has 1 lightning and 1 standard headphone port on 1 single adaptor? This whole "wireless" thing Apple is trying to do is just creating more wires.

A somewhat similar thing happened with the switch to Lightning on the iPhone 5.

Suddenly... tens of millions of 30-pin speaker docks were "obsolete"

What ever happened to all those? I mean... it was A LOT of speaker docks. Did they just end up in the trash?

We never hear about them anymore.
