I can't believe that Apple does this. I thought Apple would man up and fix the problem like Steve did with Antenna problem. Sad to see Apple has become today.

Antenna gate happened to every phone when you are using the phone normally.

bending the phone mostly happens when you try and bend it and very rarely happens in normal use so NO, its not a problem, its a perceived problem which you have become blinded in thinking its a major problem.

There needs to be more thought put into statements before making a comparison like this.

"Bendgate" video = Apple banning media outlet

And The Verge gets special treatment withr exclusive access to Apple's QC facility. But The Verge is unbiased, lol...

If you listen to their podcast they really aren't. There's quite a lot of negative criticism they have been saying about the iwatch.

I think they just appreciate design and simplistic ui.

I do not think that Apple would "man up" and acknowledge an issue less than 2 weeks after a phone is released. It took them a good while to acknowledge the antenna problems.
Gizmodo was invited back just this month.

I didn't know that.

This and I'm pretty sure, the phones coming off the assembly line in the next weeks will have a stronger reinforcement where the buttons are.

Steve didn't "man up" and fix anything. He gave out rubber band type cases that fit around the phone so the user's fingers didn't interact with the antenna issues.

Next, he comes out with a new phone called the iPhone 4S with the antenna issues all gone. That left the people with the iPhone 4 with the same defective phone.

and every phone after 4 still sold more than the previous. Que the end of apple hatreage.

Actually, the problem is the fear that it sends out to all the other publications and sites out there. Obviously they jumped on a trend, but are they NOT supposed to? There aren't supposed to be rules for how to report this sort of news but because of Apple's decision then they just established one.

Testing out a theory isn't unethical, it's modern journalism. These guys may have earned their spot on Apple's S-list but, despite PadMini crying in a corner (again) and muttering <sob> "lawsuit" and <waah> "fraud", these guys didn't actually do anything "wrong".

I totally agree.

Apple must be really feeling proud of themselves now! Whether bendgate is a real issue or not....it is not classy of Apple to go around banning media houses. Just shows Apple's arrogance to be honest....

God...can't wait for a game changer to come from a company OTHER than Apple...Will be nice to have some humility at 1, Infinite Loop, California!

Apple isn't proud, and to be honest they don't give a damn about a single media outlet. They lost nothing banning them.

Also people have been holding their breath for a game changer from companies since the iPhone was first introduced. To be fair this includes Apple, and is more of a comment on the mobile phone industry as a whole.

There is nothing to "man up" and fix as there is nothing broken. You try to break something and it breaks just means you are stupid, and not because there is a defect. Should I throw a rock at a car to simulate road debris and call it defective I it dents the hood? What's wrong with people.

If Apple shunned this German site due to this video, they've succumbed to the Streisand Effect. It would have been better to ignore it. It's pretty clear to me that the new iPhones are not as structurally rigid as the previous model iPhone or some other phones currently on the market. The weakest area appears to be near the volume buttons. Whether all of these bend tests actually translate to real-world usage remains to be seen. It's still way too early to know.

I replaced an iPhone 4S with the iPhone 6. My 4S looks new even after 3 years of use, being carried in my front pocket. I could easily sell it, but I'm going to keep it as a back-up phone. I hope the iPhone 6 holds up as well. I like the new phone, but the questions about its structural rigidity have me concerned. I'm not going to buy a belt holster, wrap it in bubble wrap or buy a bullet-proof case just to avoid putting expected pressure on the phone.

I would highly recommend that you give your new iPhone 6 the same chance you gave your 4S. Please do not allow yourself to be the person that says, "I saw it YouTube so it must be true".

The video is not showing us anything new and is just feeding the flames of a media blitz that is a non-issue. Apple is right to ban them from future events.

You'll notice that not everyone on Apple's "good side" posts glowing positive reviews. In fact, they often point out a lot of flaws, but they do it in a measured way that is professional. This German site is just riding on the coattails of a popular meme.

Their letter to Tim Cook (which he will never read nor care about in the slightest) reeks of desperation. They go on and on about how excited they were to get the invite and to receive review units, then later try to claim that they don't need Apple, but Apple really needs them.

Fast forward to next fall. Bendgate (ridiculous name) is behind us, and no one even remembers it. Everyone is excited about the new phone, and all the media is clamoring to take photos, post reviews, etc. Even more millions of customers are getting up at 3am to pre-order, and Apple announces that they broke their record for pre-orders YET AGAIN!

And this sad little German site accomplished nothing, didn't get to join in on the fun, and has to wait for the pre-order to come like everyone else.

Does that sound like Apple got the raw end of the deal here? I won't even remember this German site in 20 minutes, let alone next year.

You can make all the statements you want about how Apple is controlling the media, but if they TRULY release an inferior product, it will be all over the web. The fact is, they always trade on the quality of their products and support, and they are always equal or superior to their competition. If that falters, then we will hear about it, and there is no control they can exert over the media to stop it.

So wait... A company that has the freedom to choose who it gives review units to, and who it invites to it's events, decides to say "BYEY" to someone.

That's the story.

Right?

They owe nothing to anyone. If you are going to take review units and then participate in a clickbait defaming that same product, the only thing you are owed is EXACTLY what Bild got. A big ol' American boot.

What was that website I used to go to all the time? Gizorama? Gizmodiar?

R.I.P. Computer Bild

Hahaha oh dear god apple apologists are actually defending this.

He made a video bending a phone what the **** kind of fraudulent information is that? Good god you people are unbelievable.

Yep no wonder my 6+ is back ordered till mid November. I don't mind the wait.

I believe Apple got fed up with all the vandalism in its stores caused by bendgate. Intentionally bending a phone is not representative of durability in normal use. Bending with your hands in no way simulates what happens in front or back pockets. All it does is perpetuate vandalism.

I'm sure if Computer Gild use real testing equipment like CR, they would not be banned. CNET, Engadget, etc. could all do scientific tests and Apple would likely not ban them.

Tons of people posting videos of iPhone6+ bending to get views on Youtube and to make money...every phone bends but to jump ship start bending iPhones for views is ridiculous. That particular German media outlet has many followers and advertisers they showed it(bending a iPhone 6 +) to get paid thru views and ads. I dont blame apple one bit but thats me.

I can't believe that Apple does this. I thought Apple would man up and fix the problem like Steve did with Antenna problem. Sad to see Apple has become today.

That's because "Antennagate" was a real issue. This isn't. This is trumped up nonsense. Apple did the right thing. It's time to send a message to these idiots and stop the intentional bending madness.

Fraud? Misinformation? Slander?

Hahah you guys are hilarious.

Those things are a prosecutable offense. Since none of that actually applies Apple did the next best thing an enforced the fine print on their t&e agreement.

Face it if this German media outlet did something wrong they'd be in court and the information would be pulled from the Internet. Apple takes people to court at every available opportunity. That would be better PR than this for sure plus it would give them (Apple) control of the information.

----------

And btw there is nothing wrong with intentionally bending a phone. That's how durability test work. They need to be tested until failure.

It's up to the consumer to decide if that test is relevant to them or not.

It looked to me like the German guy bent the Note 3 as well. It wasn't bent as much as the iPhone, but it wasn't straight either after he was done with it. And it didn't even look like he applied the same force either, he was resting it on the table. This whole thing is ridiculous. You can bend any phone if you apply enough force, whether it's 90 pounds or 150 pounds, both are within the realm that humans are able to apply in various everyday situations.

Right. Because a media outlet has to break the law to have their credentials pulled.

Wrong.

They have to break the law to be sued for slander or anything of the likes, yes. That's how the law works. You need to break it to get in trouble for breaking it.

Credentials pulled? Hardly. Apple isn't going to send them test units any more or invite them to events. That's well within Apples rights and they don't have to do anything at all for Apple to do that. It was a privilege that was taken away from them.

It doesn't matter anyway the majority of tech reviewers buy there own devices and that's what this media outlet will do.
