It would be pretty stupid from Apple to bury their heads in the sand and pretend this is not an issue... hence I believe the new 6+ are with fixed panels.

Without a doubt there will be a difference in design (internally) for the 6s, but will apple communicate that to us? I doubt it, as they'd be all but admitting the iPhone 6 plus needed such a fix, i.e., its weak and can bend.

Think of the brouhaha that would erupt over that admission.

There's also nothing stopping Apple from introducing the 6S much sooner than expected. The iPad 3 was only out for about 6 months before it was replaced with a new model. Apple can do anything they want really, which includes nothing at all.

And there was a huge amount of uproar over this. People were bitterly upset that they spent a lot of money a on product they felt apple undersigned because they rolled out the 4 so soon.

I do not expect apple to rush the 6s out the door because of this, otherwise the media will have a field day and they will have created a lot of negative feedback from their customers.

Rediculous assertion, business does not work that way. So many here with conspiricy therioes must not be in the business world, i can only assume....

you can't read? it's explained in my original post.

reports:
- demand for 6+ is higher than expected
- supply chain updated to increase supply of 6+ for the rest of the year

facts (the link):
- supply of 6+ (usage statistics being used as a proxy for supply in this case) completely flat the past week

hypothesis:
- some phones set aside for the chinese launch (although Apple supply chain should be able to handle that without pausing the rest of the world supply)
- slowdown of manufacturing while working on improving the 6+ manufacturing process / quality control
And? I saw a shooting start last night just above orion....... that must mean the iPhone 6+ is being remade..... My argument is pretty much AS logical as yours. Good luck with your awesome pontificating.

You must have forgot about Antennagate. Class Action lawsuit. They paid out money to many, including me.

And they offered to replace the SSD for free for those macbooks that had that SSD. They openly admitted the problem. It wasnt silent.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2056121/apple-warns-of-ssd-failures-in-macbook-air-offers-free-replacements.html

LoL you sued for money because you can't use a phone properly! What a joke!!

Yeah, very soon Apple Stores will have a "iPhone Straightening Tool." The Genius puts your phone in a press and after a few minutes (cause if they do it fast it'll probably break), it will be flat again.

It would be pretty stupid from Apple to bury their heads in the sand and pretend this is not an issue... hence I believe the new 6+ are with fixed panels.

it would only be an issue if hundreds of thousands if not millions were bending their phones by normal usage or by just looking at the phones....it's not the case.

The percentage of bent phones is infinitely less than the percentage of people cracking their screens for example and Apple doesn't go and change the material of the screen just because some hundred thousand crack theirs...

----------

lol, really you still believe the antenna problem was user error?

in part yeah. you needed to have a really funny grip on the phone to make the signal disappear. It was possible to even do that in other phones as demonstrated by Steve Jobs on stage and on Apples website there for a while.

I had the 4 and never had a problem....

as usual when it comes to Apple....Competitors FUD.....

The lack of available 6 Plus units is easily attributable to the 20 million preorders due in China on Friday.

lol, really you still believe the antenna problem was user error?

Well seeing as millions had no issue using the phone the same way they used their other apple phones before them without an issue.... yeah I'd say, like all the idiots bending their phone, it was user error.

Pathetic that anyone felt the need to sue over that..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKIcaejkpD4

So none of these phones are hoarded and held back; they all just magically appear — all twenty million of them — overnight in various store backrooms and warehouses?

So what of all these weird rumours prior to the initial release that the iPhone had been going into full production as early as July?

This is ridiculous.

Alright, so back to this topic now that the iPhone has been available in China for a few days.
And guess what, look at the adoption numbers, the iPhone 6 adoption rate keeps rising higher and higher; iPhone 6+ meanwhile is staying relatively flat. The number of iPhone 6+ in use has increased by just 10% over the last 9 days (and that includes all the gazillion new iPhone 6+ in china, right?).

Now that you don't have the China excuse, you're going to have to find a new one. And maybe when you guys run out of possible explanation, maybe then my hypothesis may sound as valid as any...

Based upon how that data is generated, I don't think it meaningfully represents China at all.

Apple, on a their quarterly conference call, was asked about 6 vs 6 Plus sales distribution and they claim they don't know exact numbers yet. Their comment was that "we sell as many as we build of each right now." So your SPECULATION above is basically meaningless.

The alloy composition and treating process could be changed to make the casing stiffer and springier and probably no one would notice.

My 6+ bent, probably from front pocket (never placed in back pocket) and when I took it in lastnight, the genius said all bent phones are being sent to a special engineering team at apple and they maybe contacting me for questions. so they're working on "Something"

It's possible their engineering team is looking into it for the next gen iPhone 6S plus and/or 6S but definately no secret modifications to current designs of the 6/6+

I posted this in a couple other threads, but here's my phone after 3 weeks. I don't treat this phone any differently than the ones I've had since the original iPhone.

It's nothing major, but these phones bend guys...

Well there's also Apple's Early Field Failure Analysis Team, but as others have noted, if Apple implements a redesign of the structural fail point, then they open themselves to class action lawsuits and a hideous PR disaster.

I still think it will be a year before we can know the true severity of the weakness. Aluminum "fatigues", meaning a series of microstresses are additive. If the failure rate soars after a year in the wild then the public will know.

The people with the best idea of how many iPhones are bending in the wild work at Apple. Remember, most people will take a bent iPhone back to Apple or the telecom from which they bought it. They will not post photos online. Thus the online reports represent the tip of the iceberg.

If Apple do anything, it will be an earlier redesign, so instead of a fall "S" release they might move it up to summer or late spring. I'm not predicting they'll do that - it would have to be a REALLY high failure rate. Higher than we know of so far at least.

I too did not believe in Bendgate at first. Much to my chagrin, i had my 6+ flat on a table and noticed a wobble when i tapped the corners diagonally. It is very slight but the wobble is definitely there. I have had my phone in an Apple silicon case since day 1 and have been very careful with it. I do keep it in my front pants pocket when walking around (rarely while sitting), and i don't wear tight clothes. Tonight I compared it to my wife's 6+ and there is indeed a very slight bend on mine right under the volume buttons. You can't see it unless you look very closely. The bending on the 6+ is most definitely real. A 30 day old phone should not bend in the course of normal use.

I agree. Something is definitely up because these phones just aren't making it to customers right now.

Bent phones: Apple may be working on silent fix right now
