I went back to BB and got a refund on the difference for my MBA today. :) Woot. $130 back in my pocket! :)

Same here! Thank you MR for saving me $142.XX after tax. (Used part of the proceeds to buy a rice maker though, which was on sale for $10 at target. $9 off! Such a good day!

Trying to see if MacMall does price match's. The rep sent me a link to authorized Apple reseller's and Best Buy isn't on the list.

Regardless of what MacMall says, Best Buy is most definitely an authorized Apple reseller. Sounds like they just don't want to price match them.

Really wish this was the 256gb model. I have a 2010 MBA which recently broke and cannot to be fixed or covered under AppleCare and I think this would be just as fast but I was using about 150gigs on the old one... I did just buy a case to turn my old ssd into an external drive. Can the 2010 ssd be put into the 2011 model?
Also is there a big hit between i5 and i7? I'm not doing anything all that CPU intensive.

The Sandy Bridge processors blow the old Core2Duo's out of the water and yes the SSD in the 2010 can be put in the 2011. See OWC. They have blade SSD's that work in both models so I think it is safe to assume you can swap them.

Well I went ahead and ordered one from BB will go pick it up tomorrow.

Right now planning to swap in my 2010 256g ssd somehow guess it will take some research. I have the external enclosure on order as well wil use the 128 in that.

Really wish this was for the 256gb version. 128 isn't going to cut it for me...

Hmm, it would cut it for anyone. I have Win XP Virtual setup, and tons of software including CS5, Office 2011 and still have around 90 gig left. You get an external to put pictures or music on.

Well, if you put it that way I can just store everything I have on an external harddrive. But that's just stupid. I want everything on my laptop. I don't want to carry around another extra thing.

if you don't need i5 and backlit keyboard, macmall has the 2010 256 for $50 more.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale price. Just ordered the base 13" air. I will pick it up tomorrow.

Nice. I'm guessing this is a "pre-Black Friday" promotion. In any case, it's a lot better than the "Touchpad for $150 if you buy an HP laptop" promotion a few weeks ago. :D

I just bought the 13" about 10 days ago, but i got the Toshiba SSD could I take this one back and exchange it for a new one with the lower price and hope I get the Sammy?

Take into consideration ALL the work/time (copying over data, driving, waiting for the exchange) that will have to go into this for a CHANCE that you get a samsung SSD.

Speed gains will be negligible.

Are these laptops unopened box, as in brand new? Can someone verify through their software installation date, or AppleCare warranty?

most people don't need all their media on their computer when away from their house and you can just get a network attached storage device at home to keep your media on. Sure people could fill their airs with music and photos and movies but how often are you really going to need those things when you are not at home
