Are these laptops unopened box, as in brand new? Can someone verify through their software installation date, or AppleCare warranty?

They're brand new in sealed boxes. FYI (and I've had it happen) if you need warranty and their record conflicts with your receipt the receipt wins.

Well, if you put it that way I can just store everything I have on an external harddrive. But that's just stupid. I want everything on my laptop. I don't want to carry around another extra thing.

True but why would you need to carry that much data with you on an ongoing basis seriously? I am in IT and use way more than anyone else would need to do, and it works just fine for me.

Sure people could fill their airs with music and photos and movies but how often are you really going to need those things when you are not at home

Maybe we need a couple hundred gb for an Oracle database project we are working on?

If and when the macbook air 15 comes out I am going to be seriously tempted for a setup with a 512 ssd ... once you have the space you can always fill it up!

Take into consideration ALL the work/time (copying over data, driving, waiting for the exchange) that will have to go into this for a CHANCE that you get a samsung SSD.

Speed gains will be negligible.

Somehow I doubt they will exchange mine since i only paid 900...though technically i can only go up having lg and toshiba

They are new unopened, I watched the guy pull it off the rack. It even had the original shrink wrap.

most people don't need all their media on their computer when away from their house and you can just get a network attached storage device at home to keep your media on. I only have like 4 gigs of music. The thought of not having everything I need in one place is absurd. I don't use that much memory considering 256 serves me well. I've never had a need for an external harddrive.

I wanted to wait for Ivy Bridge to upgrade my +4 year old Macbook but this is really too good to pass up, especially without tax.

Ordered and should be ready for pickup tomorrow. :D Can't wait!

Is there any chance an apple store would match this price? There arent any best buys near me that sell macbook airs according to my best buy app and id rather buy it from apple anyways.

Apple Store Price Match

I had about $600 in gift cards to the Apple store, so I didn't want to purchase at Best Buy. I went down to the Apple Store, showed them the online ad, and they gave me the $200 discount. It took the manager to get approval, but I got no push back and a MacBook Air from the Apple Store for $1099. They just needed to verify that the part numbers matched. I've never seen the Air discounted this much ever before, so I think I got a great deal.

Do any of you have a link to the ad? I can't seem to find it.

Search 13" Macbook Air in the search field on the Best Buy Site and add to cart to see the $1099 price or click the weekly ad link at the top of the Best Buy Site.

My wife saw the ad for this in Sunday's paper. She looked long and hard at it and even asked my opinion. Then she thought better of it and decided that our 2010 Macbook Pro still has a lot of life left. I hope Best Buy does this again next year, 'cause it might be time to think about an upgrade by then.

It's hilarious when people get angry at sales after they've bought something. Like they're the first and only ones to ever buy something at the tail end of it's product cycle or coincidental sale.
