Just purchased my first ever Apple computer. :)

Took me a damn hour of waiting to get it though.

I only bought mine because of the open box deal @ BB a couple weeks ago. Hard to believe this is apple's "cheapest" computer

Are you saying that's a good thing because of what you got or you are not satisfied with it? Or you're referring to it being expensive??

I picked mine up Monday night. Did the software update Monday night but have not had a chance to use it until today. I am impressed with it.

Bought one today.

2 things:
No restocking fee
Option to return by Jan 24th 2012, a full 60 day return policy, crazy.

Does Best Buy allow custom configurations? I don't see the 256GB 11" model on the web site - does anyone know if this is available in stores or online somehow?

1) My personal price point for the air was under 1000 in a decent config. The base 13 fit that.

2) Considering the price of the 1st gen air and what you got compared to the 2011 and then becoming the lowest macbook it's quite amazing really.

3) yes to most apple computers are $$$. 900 isn't cheap, but considering the pc competition couldn't beat it in terms of build quality or price it was a deal.

Wow. Best Buy really stepped up on this deal. I was about 80/20 for MBA vs MBP. I pulled the trigger on the MBA today due to the amazing deal BB had. Good to know I have basically 2 months to return/exchange for a Pro if I somehow decided I would rather have the Pro.

Oh ok. I was excited to see the BB deal. The 128gb 13in model was the one I wanted. The 256gb model was a little out of my price range and figured I could do without the extra storage.

I was debating, MBP 15 or MBA 13 plus refurb iMac. So far the later is better bc my test on the MBP 2.2 early 2011 make the computer sound like and airplane taking off, agrees my brother whose computer it is and designs engines for a living ;)

Ahhhhh I was actually about to jump on this deal, but when I looked up the deal, the ad said it expired on Wednesday :(

I keep hoping Amazon has a black friday deal. Anybody know if Amazon typically has black friday deals on Apple products?

The deal on the 13" model has now expired, but I just noticed a new deal this morning at Best Buy, they currently have the base 11" MacBook Air for $150 off making it $849.99 now.

I jumped on the 13" deal in store. Now, BB has more Mac specials. Good job BB! They really have stepped up to making it totally worth buying from them. Although, AppleCare is still a killer deal from B&H!

The 13" i5 4GB 256GB is still on sale at BB for $1,499. While not quite as good a deal as the base MBP, I have yet to find anyplace offering this configuration for less.

I ordered mine last night after going to the apple store and being rejected for the price match as the local best buy stores don't stock MacBooks. I paid for express shipping which was $23 but now the macbook air is back ordered. It didnt alert me that this was the case so I'm kind of disappointed but oh well.

Just be nice and they will do it for you ... think they price match within a week any competitors price ( including them as their own competitor ).

My experience with them is they'll price match it anytime within the return window.

Best Buy gave me upgrade MBA: on purpose or accident?

I purchased an MBA 11.6 2gb 64gb base model online last at their sale price of $849.99. I picked it up today and discovered that the sealed box was a configured (custom) 11.6 4gb 128gb model. Wow! Is this due to Apple - Best Buy Black Friday volume shipping? This is for my wife and what a deal: we saved - in a sense - nearly $450? Thank you Apple and Best Buy! Best Buy does not deal in custom configs; do they?

Nope, they don't deal in custom configs. Are you sure it's not the previous MBA model?

Positive: 11.6 Core i5 1.6 4 gb 128gb.

----------

My math is off: today we saved $250 and on a normal pricing day we would have saved $350.

----------

And not custom config - my apologies... No i7: looks like someone put the wrong box in or they ran out of the base model and merely substituted.

It was most likely a packaging error. It happened to me when I ordered the latest iPod nano when it first came out.....I ordered the 8GB version and Amazon sent me the 16GB version.

Oh, and btw, the 11.6/4/128 isn't a custom configuration....it's just the next tier 11" MBA.:)
