Note to self, always preorder everything at Best Buy.Note to self, never preorder anything at Best Buy.
By the time the iPhone 7s rolls around, they'll be paying $500 for delayed pre-orders!

maybe it's apple who is giving out the money to best buy customers since they took the phones slated for best buy and are getting them instead to the iPhone upgrade program users.
?
I know you're likely kidding but part of staying up till midnight - 3am depending on your local time is so that you can get the device on launch day. Nothing like staying up till 3am only to be told that you aren't getting the device on launch day and your time was only worth $50 or $100. They could have at least applied the discount to the watch/phone order rather than trying to get another purchase out of their victims.Note to self, always preorder everything at Best Buy.

Mine still says processing too, but someone at the local store actually called me an hour ago and said it's here. I can pre-schedule a time to pick up in store tomorrow or just come in after 8am. My first time using BB, usually buy direct from Apple and have to either stand in the rain for 4 hours or the UPS guy to show up at 9pm that night finally when ordering online. So I'd have to say I'm rather impressed with BB, and would be even still with the $100 and a wait.
Same for me. But I spoke to a store associate and was told that they called everyone that would have a phone on launch day to set up an appointment to pick it up. He said they have zero pluses in stock at this time.My iPhone 7 Plus order status still shows "Processing". I'm good either way, although I was looking forward to taking it on vacation next week to try out the camera.
I ordered at like 2AM on pre-order launch day, so hopefully mine is waiting for me.
I ordered because Apple wasn't coming up. 1/2 of my ordered is delayed. I have tracking info for the otherI mean let's be honest, what relatively intelligent person would pre-order from Best Buy or Target in the first place? It's the same story every year, but I give Best Buy props for offering a $100 credit.
Either Apple is so pathetic that they did not believe in their own product and expected significantly lower demand, or the combination of Note 7 Explosions and Apple actually delivering a solid phone compared to the 6S has actually gotten people to buy this iPhone significantly more than the 6/6+ series. Unless they are going for a 100M+ iPhone sales for the holiday quarter, it's pathetic of Apple to not be able to meet demand when the iPhone is using the same design for the 3rd straight year.
I ordered from T-Mobile right after they started taking pre-orders and I have to wait a few weeks to get mine. So I do understand... but I get exactly $0 for my trouble. So I'm partially kidding, partially serious.I know you're likely kidding but part of staying up till midnight - 3am depending on your local time is so that you can get the device on launch day. but its not the same design on the inside...why do people miss this, the outer design only changes as the internals allow...curved is next, then slimmer...its an evolution and if its the same to you why did you preorder?
They simply didn't expect that the number of IUP customers who were eligible for upgrades, to actually want to upgrade at the launch...

I think it's a great phone, I'm not saying anything about that. But it is a 2+ year old design, so ramping up the production should be easier, and I don't understand the logic of not having enough of certain models till November considering even if they order too many, they have 3 more quarters to sell it after the holiday quarter.
Oh, that's a good point. I was never led to believe that my phone would arrive on launch day. That's what I get for not reading carefully.i think the big difference is that Best Buy was saying they were going to deliver right to the point they said they weren't...if they really cared about their customers the brick and mortar stores would be bare of any iPhone 7 model that was preordered...and i agree the credit being applied to a future order is a slap in the face. i have no doubt that somewhere in US there is a iPhone 7 128 gb matte black in a store for sale, as well as my apple watch order..

It's interesting that TC is supposed to be the supply chain guru. However, it appears to me, that many of the components come from the same supplier each year., and yes, there are new items that go into the makeup of the product. At that point, it seems that you would know the yield rate in advance and can quantify that into your product equation. If you are having even a 1% failure rate in some parts, would you not increase the order of these parts to compensate and adjust production accordingly?Congrats Tim on a well planed launch! LOL

With that said, as many years that the iPhone has, with any release, have a shortage of inventory, to me, is becoming to be almost planned. It seems that TC could allow an extra 30 days of inventory to satisfy demand. Oh well, so much for a bean counter,

I am getting my iPhone 7 Plus Matte and Jet Black delivered from Apple tomorrow while the Best Buy people complain. I didn't mean to insult anyone's intelligence but ordering from Apple is typically the safest route.I did. What's your point, that in all honesty, I'm some dumb ass?
Congrats Tim on a well planed launch! LOL
Some people argue that a limited supply at launch is good. It generates publicity or some sort of other PR.
Maybe that is true, but I suspect a better balance could be struck while maintaining the publicity and PR aimed for.
well, apple did somehow come up with more phones for those in IUP..

they had to come from somewhere.
You do know that Apple isn't doing this for PR right? No amount of PR would make up for the sales they could have made. It's the most popular selling phone in the world, it sells out every year. They're not artificially holding stock back when they could sell them and make money.
