That's not how I interpret the memo. Looks like they expect pre-sales THIS coming week for October 1st Launch of product...

100% they aren't doing pre-orders this week. Apple has not only not announced that a new phone exists, but hasn't even announced the day when they would announce that such a phone does exist.

At this point, the announcement won't be made for AT LEAST another week, as they have to send out invites and all of that. So, don't expect pre-sales to start for another 2 weeks, at the very least. This probably won't happen until the end of the month, I'm thinking.

You do know that Apple has sent out invites the week of an event, right? They could do it tomorrow. But doing it Labor Day week is bad and, in terms of the US, going into the 10th anniversary weekend of 9/11 when news of the new iPhone would be lost won't work out well.

Invites on Monday, September 12th, event on Thursday, September 15th.

This would be sweet, I would love to see a side by side of 960 X 640 versus a 720 X 1280!

I'm assuming the down scaling that is currently happening would cease, but how much of a real life visual difference it is going to make is the big question.

The specs were actually for 1280 X 720, 367ppi resolution density too with a 1,500:1 Contrast ratio :D

I know devs would be pissed off to make another app reolsution...and Apple probably won't do it this generation...but that is my dream phone :apple:

Although it does say subject to change. I bet it was put in for the first week of September regardless of any information from Apple.

That is most likely the case. I think it's pretty much going to be a mid September introduction with an October 21st release.

Enter what?

How do you spell "EntertainEment"?

Does BB not proof their material? Or is the image a fake, composed by someone who cannot spell?

Even if Apple disregarded labor day and September 11th, they'd have to send out invites, hold the event, and start pre-sales within 5 days...which isn't going to happen.

Maybe next week they'll send out invites, but they won't announce until the week after, I'm thinking. If they do send out invites that week.

In other news, my friend is the manager of BBYM at one of the Best Buy stores in Houston. He's heard NOTHING about any of this. It could just be a corporate document. He pointed out that Resistance is NOT on the front cover, and that he's heard nothing about anything to do with the iPhone 5. He also did a search while I was on the phone, on the Best Buy Toolkit, and nothing came up.

Am I the only one who hopes that the iPhone 5 isn't physically larger than the iPhone 4?

I for one think the iPhone 4 form factor is PERFECT. Just the right size, easily grippable, plenty thin.

Tapered edges would make it harder to grip.
Larger screen would make it bulkier in pockets/cases.
Screen right up to the edge would mean your fingers cover parts of the screen when you hold it.

The current design is excellent; I think they should just evolve it rather than making it larger/completely different.

This is great news but what's the point if its a 3G phone. Sprint's 3G is extremely slow. I highly doubt the iPhone will contain Wimax. That's why its win win situation with GSM because it could implement HSPA+. I really hope T-Mobile gets it too. T-Mobile's network is the best, they just lack coverage.

If Verizon sticks with a CDMA only version of this, I'll be switching service back to AT&T. I work overseas and I need a phone that will work everywhere.

Is it weird that they used the term "iPhone 5"??

'5' is the logical progression from 4, and is just a placeholder. The 4S thing, despite having some evidence in the form of parts, is still at its core a rumour.

Intolerance of poor spelling is quite low in many quarters, including retail (especially internally, but surprisingly occasionally on external material), so I'm not sure this means as much as it should, sadly.

Ok stick with the i4 then, we'll get the i5. You're not obligated to upgrade

But you are not the manager, are you? ;)

best you find another website forum to post in, macrumors is only about i devices thesedays...

or so it would seem

Well at the moment, yes, although I imagine that's primarily due to the only real leaks and news anywhere is about the new iPhone/iPads etc; Intel has roadmaps out for its new Ivy Bridge chips, but they're not coming anything soon.... it'll be months.

While I'm waiting for a refresh of the MBP, there really isn't any news related to it to report, unfortunately.

The same with Mac Pros... no new CPUs to upgrade to from Intel, so... nothing to report :(

I was joking about the PowerPC 7470... that was vaporware that was supposed to prolong the life of the G4, as it was rumored to support DDR memory and bus speeds of 200 MHz.

Getting closer :)

2 things. Our store always has people in at 6am and typically any news bulletin or memo gets our employee number spammed across it so that we won't leak it. I think anyone could have typed this up.

Hmmmm....

This is very interesting!
I see a redesigned iPhone 5 come out similar to the change between iPad 1 and 2.
Also an iPhone 4S, similar to the 4 with upgraded internals.
Either way, buy AAPL stock now!
