I'm pretty sure Apple have been reluctant as of late to release an iPhone with T-Mobile because the future of that carrier is uncertain.
I'm pretty sure Apple knows that regardless of the merger outcome, they will get their subsidy payment up front and that any integration period between AT&T and T-Mobile USA would probably take 5-10 years before the former T-Mobile USA drops 3G data service support from their AWS band.

If Apple released the iPhone on T-Mobile USA tomorrow and AT&T acquired T-Mobile USA two weeks from now, it's not like those new T-Mobile iPhone users would be carrying a brick a month from now. Look at the Sprint-Nextel merger; it took many, many years for the service integration.

Realistically, this is probably some sort of monthly packet district or store leadership made to keep track of business/events over the next month by week. They have no specific knowledge around a new iPhone but believe like most other people that an announcement is imminent.

I could make something like this for my job and send a pic to BGR and it would have as much credibility as this document.

Meanwhile, Why is Apple forgetting about the 6 Million people on U.S Cellular??:(

Doubtful.

A large portion of Android's growth is being driven by the race to the bottom, more specifically inexpensive handsets being deployed in Southeast Asia. It has been surmised elsewhere that many of these users aren't really treating the handsets as smartphones, but are pretty much using them as touchscreen feature phones, just making phone calls and texting, with little use in the typical smartphone manner (surfing the Internet, downloading apps, playing games, etc.).

Of course, these users don't really help out Google much (since they're not looking at ads), nor do they influence the Android developers (since they're not downloading apps). They're mostly allowing the handset manufacturers to continue their pattern of selling relatively inexpensive devices with low margins to the bottom end of the cellphone market.

Interesting because I use my Droid for exactly the purposes that you've described. I certainly don't watch any Google ads.

I was thinking about switching to Sprint. Hopefully they really do get the iPhone 5, but I'm not sure if they're going to keep their truly unlimited plan though.

Not a Sprint customer but nice to see more news of the imminent iPhone update. I just hope production is able to keep up with all this pent up demand. The lines are going to be crazy!

I wish these cellphone plans had a "pay-per-minute" plan for people that only make 3 or 4 calls a month, no use having a 300 minute a month plan...and a pay-per-megabyte of 3G for people that only load maybe 5 or 10MB of 3G data a month....

Cellphone plans are already out of this world...

On that $79.99/month "unlimited" plan you are basically paying $1920.00 (almost $2000.00 in service fees over a 2-year plan contract. That is just ridiculous!)

I don't know why so many people are so anxious about Sprint's unlimited 3G. It's SUPER SLOW because its EVDO. You'll never reach 2Mbps. That's why with HSPA+ ya can't loose. Sprint's 3G is a TINY step above AT&T and T-Mobile's EDGE network which is 2G. Think of it more as 2.5G just as many think of HSPA+ as 3.5G.

Sources? According to PC World's 13 city test, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile are more or less in the same bucket when it comes to 3G:

AT&T definitely have the fastest 3G.... when it works... Also, there are rumors that while 4G LTE is unlikely in the iPhone, it might have WiMax since it sits on the same 3G bridge, so believe it or not, The iPhone 5 might be the fastest on Sprint!

WTF, am I the only person that has a problem with all this hoopla? Apple hasn't announced anything and we are talking about pre-sales. We are starting to become delusional...

Sprint announced a few weeks ago they were adopting LTE as well...

Totally agree. Apple has revealed nothing, and they never do. I'm praying for a Sprint iPhone, have been for years. But at this point there is nothing solid to go on. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the leaked Best Buy document was pure speculation based on rumor.

I don't care about the iPhone 5, tell me about the Mac Pro...this is "MacRumors" not "iPhoneRumors"...

What rumours are there to tell about the Mac Pro? It won't get a refresh until the new chips are out from Intel, as with all other Mac lines.

After some thinking.... why would Best Buy even get this information so soon?

2010: Announced June 7... shipped June 24
2009: Announced June 8... shipped June 19
2008: Announced June 9... shipped July 11

Why would Apple have to tell retailers when to expect it?

There is always plenty of time for retailers to get ready... and Best Buy is only one retailer.

you don't just ship pallets of iphones. you have to make arrangements like who gets paid what, display sizes, warehouse space and distribution, employee training. takes months

I would think it might be because it's going to be a HUGE fall season for Apple. New iPods, two new iPhones, iCloud, and maybe some other secret sauce to make it even bigger and they need to start gearing up sooner that later to get their retailers geared up?

But your observation is very valid... it does seem odd that their starting this early... but then again, it's no secret that a new iPhone is coming... it is a mystery as to what it is. Sort of. :)

Either some BB employee is having fun with company stationary or we can expect an Apple announcement in the next two weeks or so.

Let's just hope that the new iphone doesn't turn out to be an ugly sack of **** like the "leaked" designs. That thing is nasty. Door wedge anyone?

Oh I know that.... so are we to believe that Best Buy had memos like this in previous years? This early? Apple hasn't even announced the thing yet.

I realize it takes time to set up displays in thousands of stores... and to train employees.

But that's why there has always been time after the announcement but before the phones go on sale.

Yep, it's gonna be another big one for sure! I guess it never hurts to keep Best Buy employees on their toes for another huge Apple quarter.
