iPod touch Best Buy iPod Touch availability

if the website says they have it in stock, they probably have. i also called and after being bounced around for a while, and on hold FOREVER, i was told they didn't have any.

showed up, and the same girl that told me on the phone that they didn't have any opened up the locked cabinet and pulled out a 16GB ipod touch.

BBY employees are, for the most part, lazy, uninformed, and generally unmotivated, unless they think you're going to be buying some monster cables and extended service contracts.

the door at the local bby even had a sign that said ipod touch in stock.
 
I took the risk and went ahead and ordered online without calling after seeing the in-stock notice. Ordered before they opened, and got confirmation within 15 minutes after opening. When I went to pick up, the girl at the service counter was surprised they had them already. If I had called first, I probably would have gotten her on the phone and she wouldn't have known anything beyond the "official" date.
 
I was very surprised to find that our Best Buy in West Lebanon, NH had them in stock today. I cancelled my Apple Store pre-order. Apple doesn't value their full paying customers much. Instead, Best Buy got a cut of the profit. Apple would have done well to fill all the Store orders first as a sign of appreciation of all those who were willing to pay up front.

Oh well, I need to get busy with my Touch.
 
well I went ahead and bought it online, with the service plan. 10min later they sent me an email saying it is ready for pickup at the store. Who knows? Ill raise some hell if I get there and they dont have it ready. maybe get a discount or something, lol.

so are people saying that when you call the store and they say they dont have any....but in reality they really might have some?

should i head over to my store to see if they have any(the girl on the phone said she doesnt expect any until monday)
 
I dont know. I searched using the OP's link, and it said in stock.

When I called, the guy that answered the phone said they didnt have them, and wouldnt until the 28th.

Then I went ahead and ordered it online and they sent me an email saying it was ready for pickup at the store??

So I am thinking they have it and..
either the guy doesnt know they have them, or he isnt suppose to tell anyone ie. they are not going to be put on the shelves until the 28th.

I say if it's close enough, go for it! Mine is about 15 minutes away. I'm leaving in a bit to see for myself. I'll come back and let you guys know what happened. But the lady on the phone did say they were expecting a shipment in YESTERDAY, and the truck still hadn't arrived. So she said keep checking back throughout today and tomorrow, and if not today or tomorrow, they will DEFINITELY be in by Monday.

But I'm so impatient, and I want mine NOW. So I'm going to the store in person to see for myself . . .
 
Got mine at Milford, MA this morning. First person I talked to didn't know a thing about them. One of the other folks working in the department checked stock and got the box from 'out back'. They had 5 16GB models before I got mine.

PS - It rocks
 
The Best Buy in Tacoma, WA (near Tacoma Mall) had them in stock as of 2 hours ago when I purchased mine.
 
I am waiting for 8GB version to show up at my local BB. It seems like 8GB is rarer to find than 16GB, at least where I live.
 
just got back from my local best buy...

and it was weird.

i walked over to where to iPods are....

and on display they had all the new iPods...shuffles,nanos,classics...all with the price tag under them...

but next to the classic there was an empty display but under it...there was the price tag for a 8gb and 16gb touch. it had all the details and everything. there was just no display model to mess around with...so i asked the lady if they had any and she said probably not until monday. sooo i was just like ok

BUT THEN....
i was walking around looking at the cell phones and i noticed that BEHIND THE COUNTER....were 3 cabinets....one labled nanos, classics, and 8gb/16 gb iPod touch. why would they have that cabinet? maybe they just didnt have them in? orrr maybe she just didnt look? or i dunno. but all i know is that there was a cabinet for them.
 
The Best Buy in Torrance also has them in stock (quite a few of them too). I didn't want to chance missing out, so I bought one for instore pickup late last night and grabbed it this morning. :) They weren't even sure they had them when they reserved it and even when I got there, one person wasn't sure. My Dad grabbed one and was told he had to pre-order it, another person got involved and they said "pre-order it? They're right there." Pointed to the display case right in front of the store and there they were.

I'm glad I got it though, just need to move my stuff over and I'm set.

Your Best Buy store sounds just like mine lol. The lady I talked to said they get truckloads on Mondays and Thursdays, so I should check back Monday afternoon. I can't wait!

But they had all of the iPods on display (except for the touch), but they had two empty spaces with all of the details and the little stand that the models sit on, but there was nothing there. And in the cabinet below, they had the classics and the nanos, but beside those were empty spots for the touch. So that does mean that they are preparing to get them really soon or else they wouldn't have the open spots for them, right? I don't see them having an opening spot for the next 3 weeks. That'd be dumb . . .

yeah. were def. in the same boat here. but the cabinet that i saw wasnt open. so i have no idea if there were some in there or not. im just gonna check back tomorrow then on monday. let me know how yours turns out too. :D

To tell the truth the audio is much better than I expected. I'm no audiophile, but from what I have listened to so far, it's definitely better than any other iPod I have ever used (1st gen nano and 4th gen 40GB). The screen is excellent, I haven't used an iPhone so I can't say if its any better or worse, but I'm very happy with it.

Probably not going to accomplish anything this weekend, though. I'll be playing with it all day tomorrow I'm sure.

Dude, you rock! I thought I had tried doing this... but alas, I was able to get it at the third closest Best Buy to me... woohoo, I got my 8GB. Yes folks, I got an 8GB, this is replacing the Nano I just sold, I'm still keeping my GEN5 iPod!!!!

Aww, you should've asked!! Haha, I know I would have. I was telling the lady about all of these people getting them from Best Buy all over the country and she seemed really surprised because they weren't supposed to get any in for the next 2 - 3 weeks.

well the lady that i saw said monday. soo thats alot different than september 28th. i kinda believe her though. but i duno. i kinda wished i woulda asked about that cabinet. "do you mind just opening up those cabinet doors marked "iPod touch"" hahaha
 
well just got back from BB. Typing this one me new 16G touch!! When I got there they went to the back and got it. They where not one the shelves yet. I guess they are only selling them via the net there, I called again right before I got there and they said they didnt have any?? I don't know why
 
do all best buy stores get shipments on mondays and thursdays? i think i'll go to best buy tomorrow and see if they have any in stock even though the website says otherwise. :rolleyes:
 
Who here has a Pre-Order shipment from Best Buy? My date changed from 10-01-07 to 09-14-07 but it still says it's Backordered and it doesn't give me any sort of rough estimate as to when it will ship. Has anyone elses status changed. I will call them and see if they have any in stock, if they do, then I just gotta call my card number and have them switch it to in store pick up. All the best buys near me don't have either iPod (that is six Best Buys, the closest are like a half an hour away)
