iPod touch Best Buy iPod Touch availability

Hey all.

Am I the first person in the UK to get their iPod Touch??

It came at 4pm today after ordering it from Play.com yesterday (19th Sept). I didn't even expect it until October. Is it actually legal to sell it before launch? Haven't had much of a chance to play around with it, but it is so much smaller than I thought. Looks amazing btw.

Interestingly, I've just checked on the Argos website and it doesn't seem to be available until 29th September now.

PS: I did come across this, which might be of help: www.ipodtouchlocator.com. It appears to update hourly with stock details, etc.

Anyone else got theirs? Mine was the 8GB one.
 
called again today...

my local best buy STILL DOES NOT have it. i dont understand. who knows.

hopefully tomorrow before the weekend they'll have it so i can mess around with it during the weekend.

anyones local best buy get some in today??
 
i just did a quick check of the inventory of touches on best buys website and im amazed. every single zip code (from east to west coast) that i put in they are out of them.

i hope they come tomorrow. :eek:

im not gonna get my hopes up though

EDIT-when i go into BB to buy my touch, do you think i could ask to see the week number? or would they say no?

Glad yours came in today ... mine came in too! I just ordered online and I'm leaving in a bit to go pick it up. I am SO EXCITED!! Now I've got my touch, and next week I'll have my MACBOOK PRO!!
 
Thanks for the heads up on the Best Buy availability. I checked on line luckily the store near me has the only ones still in stock in Atlanta area. I bought on-line and picked up.

I have a 38 week Macy Gray box.

Can't test as I'm now at work. I'll test tonight and try to include photos for others on the board comparing to my 37 week that has the screen issue.

Now if all is well (fingers crossed) I'll be returning my week 37 to the Apple store next week.

Thanks to all for all the helpful comments on all the threads, this really is a great board. It's good to see some none screen related positive threads.

Soon we'll all be enjoying our perfect iPod Touches. Now they just need to jailbreak it so we can get email on the Touch then it will be completely perfect.

It's my guess that retail employees are generally trained to avoid showing ignorance at any cost -- even if it means boldly fabricating false information. I noticed the same phenomenon at the Apple stores. Ask three employees in a row and you'll get three different answers. Nobody knows the truth but they are hired to be helpful so they're not allowed to [truthfully] reply, "I don't know."

This scheme backfires, of course, when the consumer isn't completely clueless.

Best Buy is one of the worst perpetrators of this, which is why I've made my mom swear to me never to spend significant money at Best Buy without consulting me first. Also, she's not allowed to talk to any sales people when I go there with her. I can't stand listening to those people make up stuff about HDTVs...
