(in a tone that said what the f*ck is that), we wont be getting those" buy when my brothers wife was out of town i called her and told her to get me one at best buy, she said that they had ALOT of them, the guy in front of her was buying 10, probably for ebay

i just called my bestbuy and they STILL HAVE NOT gotten any touches in.
they said they were hoping the shipment that they got today would have some...but all that was on there was more 80 gb. they said to check back in this week. i dont understand why some are getting them and why some are not. kinda weird.

Again, we're in the same predicament. I swear we live in the same area lmao. But I called today and she told me they (I guess management) told the associates that they should have them by next week. They could possibly get them this week, but it's not guaranteed. Urgh!

Woo Hoo! Just got my "ready for pick up" Email from one of the Best Buy Stores here in Minneapolis. I'd say about 2/3 of the local stores showed availability of the 8GB earlier today (Not the 16). Of course that didn't include either of the 2 stores closest to me, but that would be too easy right?!
3 best buys around me (Chicagoland, Northwest Suburb area) have the 16GBs in stock, I have yet to check in person but I don't want to obsess more than I already do!

After having the "Your Item is Backordered" message for the past two weeks, I finally got a new one. It says my item is currently in the process of being fulfilled and will be shipped either today or tomorrow, so the first batches of the Best Buy preorders are starting to ship, I should be seeing it this Friday. I'll post up with info after I get a tracking number.

Well I got the email! Got my tracking number and everything. It shipped. It should be here either Thurs or Fri. I already got my Invisible Shield today (which I'm glad, rather it be this way than the other way around, so I don't scratch the back out of excitement). I chose next day delivery and it said it shipped today. Would there be any possibility of me getting it tomorrow?

Jesus, every best buy within 50 miles of me (theres like 12) have NONE in. And its not like they are always sold out, they just straight up dont have any. How stupid is that? Every time i call they say, yah well be getting them at the end of the month. What a buncha idiots.
I've been calling some of the same stores over and over again. Sometimes I call more than once in a day and I get a wide range of answers from the SAME STORE - on Saturday they said they would have them in Tuesday or Thursday. Then yesterday I call and they say "We don't have them" - Then today I call and they say early October - SAME STORE
I think sometimes the people that work in the stores are getting tired of all the phone calls. I called last Thursday at the Apple Store in the morning and the girl was really rude. Later that day they got them in. Then today I took a ride over there and there couldn't be nicer. They did have them on display but none in the store. Oh well just have to wait.
I would recommend you all use Best Buy's online ordering page to check for availability in lieu of constantly calling. It's how I got mine Saturday. I used in-store pickup.
buy it online then show up with the reciept, or go there and see if they have it, many people at these stores are not informed, I heard one guy say that the people at best buy didnt know it was there until they looked it up on the computer

I would trust the online store more than the word of an employee. A lot of times employees get pulled from another department into the MP3 section for helping customers and answering the phone. So sometimes, you won't get the actual MP3 associate but the home theater associate who thinks they know what's going on.
If you want an iPod touch and BBY online says it's in stock, order it online with the "In-store pick up" option, so you don't have to rush to the store. You'll be able pick it right up at customer service and won't have to deal with sales associates. Stop calling the store and use the more reliable source, the online ordering system. The inventory numbers on BBY online are not deceiving. They reflect real stock and are updated by the hour.

Becuase my last ipod (video 5.0) had the silver back and it looked really horrible after the first week, I don't want my ipod to look like that. So I get a shield so it looks great all the time!
