but how many non-apple stores actually have a real Apple person in store or a all Apple area.

Plus they actually matched a Sears price on a Stove
(Stove- a 220 Volt device with a build in clock that puts out the same amount of heat as my Folding system)

but it is nice to have Fry's- best buys and Micro center all withing 10 miles.

I can't stand anything about Best Buy except their occasional sales. Why are they stopping at $100 more, why not just go for the gold and just charge double the price?

Boy look at the comments. Meanwhile this has been the standard for iphones bought outright at Best Buy. Lol.
I don’t understand the outrage. A person in the inownwilk just get itnorice marched. Buying this at retail (Apple retail) from s retailer is at a loss to them. They want your contract. It’s that simple.

As far as restocking fees, that’s a direct result of people shopping the store to rent something. Unfortunately that’s the way the world works. People abuse a system and we all lose in the long run. Blame it on people who keep buying phones and returning them. They tried taking IDs for reruns but too many states don’t allow this. This is the only legitimate step they can take.

People just trying to be edgy with th theirn comments lol.
[doublepost=1509166493][/doublepost][649812"]

I can't help but laugh at folks on here bitching about the restocking fees. These are some of the same folks who will buy an iPhone 8 and use it for a week (simply b/c they can't wait to get the new iPhone X) and then return the iPhone 8 (completely screwing up inventory and stopping that phone from being sold to another customer who actually wanted it) Ya wanna know why BBY has restocking fees? B/c dumb ass customers took advantage of the old return policy. Hell that's also the reason why the company has deductibles on GSP fulfillments. Customers took advantage of the old policy and now everybody has to suffer. So don't blame Best Buy, blame the idiot customers who ruined it.

Also the iPhone pricing thing....you know I find it comical that folks will get mad at best buy for so called price gouging when best buy usually has Apple products (iPhone excluded) a hell of alot cheaper than apple and alot of other retailers. The MacBooks and iPads have been discounted on several occasions. Damn Apple cable is like 80 bucks but Best Buy has the same cable for a fraction of the cost. But it's Best Buy that's the bad guy? Hell even the Samsung products get discounted. The damn unlocked S8s were like a 100 bucks off. The Verizon Note 8 is like 250 off right now.
Lol folks on here definitely trying be edgy.

They’ll match anything in stock as long as the model number matches. Their open box appliances are also an amazing value especially when they roll out their 20% coupons. We redid our kitchen over the last six months keeping an eye on open box (floor models). We got $5000 in appliances for around $1800 delivered (the microwave we had to pick up ourselves)... just need to pay attention to what’s out there.

People still shop there?

I do. Best Buy has a wide selection of tech and AV equipment. Prices generally ok I think. Occasionally I find stuff on sale that I need, so that's a plus. Either way I like the same day availability.

My local Apple Store has been closed for going on 4 months for renovations (time frame seems really strange to me). So Best Buy good backup option.

Also with Staples shutting down stores I now use BB for office supplies

I just spent 2 hours on the phone with Best Buy and 2 hours chatting online with Best Buy. I climbed the ladder with both and spoke to the highest person that they would allow me (about 4 levels up), and they would not budge. They’ve specifically been told today not to price match the iPhone X. I thought after wearing them down for a couple hours they would eventually cave, but they didn’t because they’ve all been given specific orders today not to since that’s what everyone is calling in about.

It is common, at least in Canada, for carriers to mark up the outright price of iPhones. Not quite $100USD but somewhere in the range of $5-60CAD depending on model.

As someone else mentioned: for the carriers, securing your ongoing business in a term contract or device payment plan is what they want/need to make a profit. The margins Apple leaves them (for straight device sales at MSRP) must not be that compelling. For Best Buy, carriers, et al., they make their real money on the everything offered that isn’t the device.

That's too bad but I had a feeling. Even just calling BB 1-888 number, the automated system already had a special announcement about no price matching on unactivated iPhone X (or something like that).

I assume price matching at some local BB stores might have better luck depending if the individual store staff have been clued in or not? Too bad online bestbuy.com price matching supposedly have to be done on the phone, can't be at a local store.

apple needs to shut them down for gouging. I hate buying from them anymore anyway. Everything I have bought lately has restocking fees. They even tried to charge me $150 to return a product that didn't work out of the box.
Apple needs to shut Apple down for price gouging :)

It’s funny how many people are talking about “price gouging.” Best Buy and other 3 party retailers pay a little more per phone (it’s $30-50 more usually) and they make the money back with the plan and insurance sales. The carriers give them a kickback to make up for that extra $30-50. It encourages them to sell the plans and insurance instead of selling them outright all of the time. So if they are willing to sell the phone outright without a plan, they have to bump the price up a bit so they aren’t being sold at a loss. I used to work for an authorized Apple retail store and service provider that sold the iPhones through Verizon. We would avoid selling the phones outright exactly because of that. We would have to bump the price up $50-100 to offset the potential loss by selling at the retail price. Apple doesn’t have to do this because it’s Apple and the carriers don’t have to either because they are first party.

They have the flexibility to decrease the prices of Apple products (as they buy them in bulk), like they do with gift cards and their occasional special promotions. They also have the ability to increase prices.
That’s true for the non-iPhone products, but that is not the case for the phones. They get their phones through a supplier under a carrier, and they actually pay about $30-50 more than retail for the phones in order to encourage selling the phones with a plan and insurance attached. They then get a kickback of about $100 from the carrier to make up for the higher cost per phone that Best Buy has to pay.

Better if they assumed they got greedy and just want to rip extra $100 from it's customers haha

I really hope Best Buy gets Blockbuster'd one of these days.

They lasted about a year in the UK...

Note to posterity: if you're going to set up shop in out-of-town malls, next to Currys, PC-World and Comet all offering the same goods at the same prices, at a time when both are already struggling in the face of internet sales try offering something different.

Can't remember whether Comet went bust before or after Best Buy, but it was around the same era. PC-World and Currys were the same company but have since merged most of their stores. It was obvious to a concussed whelk at the time that the Electricals/PC chain superstore market was already overcrowded. Maybe there was more to the story...

"Our prices reflect the fact that no matter a customer's desired plan or carrier, or whether a customer is on a business or personal plan, they are able to get a phone the way they want at Best Buy. Our customers have told us they want this flexibility and sometimes that has a cost," a Best Buy spokesperson told MacRumors.

ha! Blame the people who took our surveys is what that means.

Buy it somewhere else if you can. This is simple supply and demand / capitalism (NOT a dirty word.)
I'm not a fan of Best Buy at all, but I see no problem with this.

Best Buy has done this for ages with full cost phones. I can't believe Apple\Samsung allow them to do this.
Antitrust. Apple / Samsung can't just order a store which prices they should charge. On the other hand, why would you care if Best Buy charges $100 more than Apple? Just buy at Apple if you want a phone without a contract, and before you do that compare the price with what a phone company will charge you.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

That’s gotta be a better excuse for price gouging then Apples ‘courage’ statement.. hahahahaha

Brilliant marketing spin NOT! Go on, rinse those customers I mean if they are spending that much on a phone, why not?

The only thing I will miss about best buy when they are gone is at least for me, they are the only place I can go to touch electronics and see them in person before I go home and buy them on Amazon for less money.

I work for Best Buy and it amazes me how often I see this statement online. Just price match and take it home with you. I used to buy from Amazon all the time, and still do purchase a few things, but I got tired of their so called two day deliver that takes four days, stuff arriving damaged, etc I don't care where you shop, Walmart, Microcenter, Best Buy, just freaking price match and take the thing home. Funny thing is Amazon is hardly ever the cheapest place anymore. So if you just go home and automatically buy at Amazon your most likely paying more.

Hating on Best Buy for an extra hundred but people will pay 500 over on eBay or craigslist. Hilarious. No different than one gas station at 2.27 and another down the block at 2.32. It’s america. Charge what you want. I’ve gotten cheaper Apple products at Best Buy than Apple store.
Me too. I've saved a TON of money buying my Apple products from Best Buy. They periodically have decent trade-in values on certain items from time to time as well.

No one complains about lack of Apple store sales.
I've read complaints on this forum over the fact that Best Buy's sale prices undercut Apple store prices (even selling NEW items for less than Apple charges for REFURB) and how that affects the used resale market.
