I, for one, think this is great. It gives the consumer more options. Not everyone lives by an Apple Store. When I lived in Iowa I would have to travel an hour just to get to one. Couple that with ****** winter weather and roads, and there were times that hour drive wasn't even an option. Best Buy was a five minute drive.

Bottom line is this is backed by Apple. You can bet that if anything happens to your Apple product while under repair it will get replaced. I don't see the paranoia. But keep on hating folks.

I find it interesting that our warranties are only 1 yr for iPhones when most people keep their phones for 1-2 years probably?
It's just the industry standard. Consumers don't demand more. The government (US) doesn't demand more. And so this is how it shall be.

Um, did you notice that I said "reputable" in my post? And that it was a working code (in a real AppleCare package)?

But, hey, if you like to pay more for the same service feel free.
To be frank, I could say this about anything. I can buy that same MacBook on eBay generally for less than retail.

You're certainly notwrong, but some people just don't like dealing with eBay. There's. Nothing wrong with that, either.

Clearly, you have never dealt with, nor researched, Best Buy's service department.
I have. And it's not as bad as people
Make it out to be. Half of the apple stores around here have 2-3 (out of five) star ratings too. If I listened to everything I read in the internet I would never trust a business with anything of mine. And that's not me being facetious. People tend to make sure their voices are heard when they have bad experiences. This is true less often with good experiences.

That said, I've had bad experiences with best buy too, but that was years ago. Last two things I took back either got replaced with s new product or repaired good as new. Zero issues.

Much better than the nearly $500 3 year total protection plan a BBY employee tried to push onto me yesterday. I'm not kidding.

Still would just use the AC only at a Genius bar.
The major difference is that Geek Squad does cover accidental damage where AppleCare does not.

Actually, plenty of large appliances have much longer than one year warranties. It's not uncommon for 5-10 years on washers, dryers, cooktops, fridges, etc.

The EU needs to crack down on Apple hard, and I mean *really* hard. Apple care and care+ or whatever their crappy services are called need get banned in Europe and they should have to add a banner on Apple.com proclaiming that you are entitled to two full years of warranty, no questions asked. A huge multi billion fee is in order, too. Play by our rules or get the **** off.

Yup. The haters, who just wait for every new topic to express their hate, and the bashers seem to far outnumber the intelligent and rational participants. This seems to only be getting worse. Frosty can't wait to give a thumbs up to every post of hate. What a life. Sitting at home all day just waiting to express his hate.

Soon the few intelligent participants will completely give up and only hate and bashing will be left. I'm getting closer and closer. I'm almost at the point I'd rather read the Apple forums than MacRumors. At this point, I doubt the mods could even turn this around, even if they wanted to.

I'm at the point that it wouldn't even bother me if I get kicked off this forum.

'Consumers don't demand more' haha. More like, US corporations bribing politicians via lobbying and election campaign funding to keep anti-consumer practise in place.

Why hasn't the EU cracked down on the Apple?

I was ripped off by AT&T's scam Insurance Program. Lets hope it's not a scam like AT&T's bogus plan that denies coverage once a problem develops.

For those of you who think that Best Buy selling Apple Care is any different than Apple Care sold by Apple, you're wrong. Apple calls it a 3 year when buying from them, I bought through B&H and it was called a 2 Year. I would assume this is to clear up the confusion that this adds 2 years onto the 1 year it already comes with. It was an enrollment through Apple, and my terms and conditions came from Apple.com. I feel it would be safe to assume that Best Buy would be similar, and that Apple is the one doing the repairs. So that would make this a huge change from the Geek Squad Protection offers currently available in Best Buy stores.

A voice of reason!

I agree and for me... I'd rather take it to Apple, but that's over an hour away when Best Buy is 15 minutes. If I need a repair, I'd take it to them. If they F" it up... well, then they can try again or I can go to Apple. A good option.

What's Best Buy?
Last time I was there about 4 years ago, it was deserted...
Then I just couldn't make myself buy anything knowing that I could go to Amazon and buy the same thing for almost half off...
Best buy...

That's why BB has now gone to matching internet pricing and setting up individual 'boutique' shops for Samsung and the like. I avoid giving them any money outside of the one purchase I made when I needed a new camera. They matched Amazon's price and I got 18 month free financing. I didn't need any sales assistance as I had already done my research. Other than that, they, to me, just function as a 'try on' shop. It seems that anytime you go there, someone had to find someone else to assist you as that's 'not their department'. Majority of staff is used for just stocking and merchandising.

APP can be bought anywhere (boxed item) up to 12 months and excludes damage, and only applies to non-iOS, ie. OS X and AppleTV up to 3 years.

AC+ (electronic item) can only be bought at purchase of device, or via Apple Support within 60 days, covering damage of iOS device and Watch up to 2 years, 3 on Apple Watch Edition.

Pays to actually read the Applecare website.
AC+ is handy as insurance in consumer law countries where damage is NOT covered.

Best Buy sounds like they are becoming certified Apple providers, ie. Genius tech.

best buy don't fix apple products they ship them out to get fixed if you go to a best buy and have them fix it.

Some other stores. BH Photo Video, LA Computer Company, MacMall, Adorama. Or from Apple; check out as a student for a big discount.
Good list! Thanks for sharing it. I always buy my AppleCare at a solid discount from LA Computer Company, which I first learned about in a MacRumors thread several years ago.
