I went with the vaja. my second choice was the Speck Tough, but the vaja just looks very nice. I didn't choose agent 18 because it looks like it won't protect as well if my ipod is dropped.

Oh by the way just got my 30g blck video ipod last night. Love it. Replaces my 3g 30g ipod which was dropped and has since not been reliable.

Italian Orbino Cambio Handstitched

I just got the Orbino Cambio. Comes from Italy and is a real work of art! I love the hand stitching and feels real solid.

Would you rather I asked why bulkier is better?

Perhaps you could have asked "Why would you prefer a bigger iPod" instead of implying that I was making the grand decision that everyone should have bigger iPods.

And your answer would be- because I have big hands.;)

I use the invisible shield but I'm dissapointed about the lack of impact protection. I just ordered this case in black for the black 60giger:

http://www.podsplus.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=157

I think the pod will fit in this even with the IS. Now the scroll wheel and center button will still be protected by the shield and impacts will also be taken care and it still looks cool.

We tried the Contour iSee case but my daughter's black 60GB Video iPod wouldn't fit (too big/sticky with the Invisible Shield installed). Please let me know your experience with the Innopocket Metal Case (aka Podsplus case).

Hard Case or Silicon Case?

Which is best? What are your opinions? Having a hard time deciding in the Skin Tight from Speck or the SEE-Thru from Speck or the Agt 18. Help. Also what is the best cassette adapter to get that does not click when you use it?

HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!

Thought I'd add my two cents into this discussion. I previously purchased a Contour iSee Video for my 30gb iPod but I did not like it as much as I thought I would. I then ordered the Agent 18 and it is infinitely better! The frosted appearance helps in preventing scratches as the case is actually scratch resistant, unlike the isee video.

The opened bottom is not that big of a deal IMO. Who cares if the bottom of my ipod gets a little scratched? As long as there is screen protection and the front is nice and protected, it's a good case, and the Agent 18 is a GREAT case

Agent 18 hands down

Has anyone been to an apple store and seen the new iskin evo3 there? i know they arent online at the apple store but i was just curious.

An employee at the Apple Store in downtown Chicago said that the supplier is only selling via the web right now so they can keep a greater portion of the profits for themselves. The store has the old evos there - might be awhile for the 3.

man thats too bad, i have a $40 apple gift card to use and that would have been my choice.

I'm in love with the way my girlfriend's Nano looks with the Nanotube on it, so on Friday I ordered a Gelz silicone case from RadTech for my iPod.

It should be here Tuesday or Wednesday, and I'll post pics and a review when it does.

The Podsplus case seems flawed and i stopped using it, however it did work very nicely with the IS installed. The problem with the podplus case is that where snaps is in the center of the top ( you can see in pictures of it) which allows it to sort of wobble. I must have sat on mine or done something and now it only snaps shut if it is skewed and not alligned with the bottom half. There is also a pretty big gap between the scroll wheel and the metal, maybe a 8th of an inch. The case also makes the pod considerably larger.

I'm pretty dissapointed that the Contour iSee case doesnt work wtih the IS insalled, was it just inpossible to get on?

any silicon cases will pick up a lot of junk. they do tend to get sticky, making them hard to get out of pockets. They also add a good amount of thickness... i have never used the invisible skin thing, but it seems that would be the best.. only changing the texture of the ipod.. what is the point of buying a small ipod if the case only doubles it's size?

I'm not sure if this is a new product, but I recently got a silicone casing made by Apple for the video iPod. I thought it would be something similar to what I previously got for my iPhoto (see attached photo white ipod), which had annoying characteristics. As you said, the silicone didn't react well with some surfaces or material. Surprisingly, this new casing answered most of my concerns. the scroll wheel didn't drag, it remained very fluid as if there was no casing at all., the surface of the new casing didn't create that much friction making it easier to slide into pockets whether it be made of denim, wool or soft cotton, protectionwise, it's definitely better than the invisible shield alone. (what I did: invisible shield + silicone casing) it comes w/ a strap and the back has reinforced slits for belts to go through. pretty nifty. As for the look, well just see for yourself.

I just stumbled upon it while checking out a local Apple store. The box is nearly identical w/ the video iPod box and it has the Apple logo. I don't know whether it's really made by Apple or whether they merely licensed the manufacturer.

Does that case have a screen protector? It's hard to tell from the photo.

I broke down and ordered an evo3 from iSkin via their website.

I love it. Of course, I don't use the hold button. If I did, there would be an issue.

I can't imagine another skin providing more protection.

hello

Hey guys,

I go to college, but i work on a farm all summer :(. So I just bought a 30g video ipod to keep me from killing myself during the summer boredom. Problem is I do alot of physical work, and i need the heaviest dudy stuff i can get to protect my ipod. I need to be able to protect every area from dirt etc, and I could use something like and armband to keep it from getting broken in my pocket. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thx for reading.

I checked out the local Apple store and found out that what I got wasn't made by Apple but merely by a 3rd party provider (20$). at any rate, I was shown a different product; a casing of a similar although translucent material and this time, this one had a removable belt clip and a screen protector. the casing had a no-slip grip on its sides. I forgot to check out the name but the guy from the store said that this was the "official" Apple casing for the 5G iPod. It comes in a hard plastic transparent container. I should have taken a photo but i guess I got a bit depressed when i realized this was a better and cheaper product (18$) than what I got . :(
