does anyone know if the apple stores have the new iskin for the new ipod in yet? Its not on their website, but sometimes the website and what they have in the stores are different...

lots to read...still can't decide

I still just don't know what to do. Should I do the invisible shield (which does seem to be kind of a pain) or the Agent 18? Or perhaps both?? I just got my iPod for Xmas and REALLY want to keep it in prime condition.

btw, thanks Baked for the coupon info. Somebody on eBay is selling info for the coupon if you can believe it!

Hard shell versus Rubber shell

I am trying to decide between the Agent 19 and one of the Speck cases. Is there any difference in the protection? I was leaning to the Speck (rubber shell) case, my thinking the rubber shell would provide a shock absorber affect on falls. However, there seems to be a lot of support for the Agent 19 hard shell (and it probably has a better look)?

Thanks,

invisble shield is the best case/cover for sure
you know i just got mine and got to say i don't like it. I kept it on the back but not the front. There are just too many airbubbles and fingerprints cos its hard to put on. it just not INVISIBLE, if it truly was i'd agree with you.

I love my iPod Socks but im REAL protective of my iPod becuz the sock does not help if your drop it(it helps to keep those little scratches off)

What is apples policy about scratched ipods now, and does extended applecare cover it. mines not but a week old, barely used handled with kid gloves and still has little scratches on it. It ridiculous to me at this point. they offer NOTHING to protect it, and by th time you all the manufacutrers release something your ipod is scratched. I feel like i can't even use it. I think i might just sell it now.

What about all the cases available for the iPod? And the FREE one that comes with the iPod?

I kept my plastic on it so far, and I just ordered the agent 18 case. But I think i'm going to knit a case for the ipod to go in it as well. I wanna keep it looking like new after all! That case that comes with it prob scratches it more then leaving it out of one. That thing is so tight geez.

If it bothers you that much, go ahead and sell it. Jeez.

Agent 18 VideoShield or Speck Toughskin?

I have narrowed my selection down to either the Agent 18 VideoShield or the Speck Toughskin. I am coming off a Vaja leather case on my 3G iPod so I'm used to some sort of shock protection on the case. In that sense the Toughskin would be more to my liking. Does anybody have any pictures of this in use?

In terms of the Agent 18 VideoShield, if you were to drop it say just onto carpet would the case separate and come off? The plastic casing is the only thing that bothers me because I was constantly putting my iPod in the center console of my car which is hard plastic also and I just see this in the long run taking its toll on the case and the iPod itself.

In terms of these two cases, which one gets your vote?

I've seen a few mentions of the Contour ISEE, but I own one so I will comment.

+ Fits well
+ Does not add bulk
+ Has rubber feet (clear) which helps keep it still in my car
+completely clear

- Does scratch...I don't care about this since it is protecting my ipod. I think any completely clear case made of the same material of the IPOD will scratch. But again it's a case and it meant to protect the IPOD
- Makes the IPOD too big to fit into the Universal Dock. I am going to usea dremel tool to sand the edges of the dock just a bit on each side and it should fit then.

Overall, it's a good option for a clear case...probably the best fit and most closely replicates the shape of the IPOD itself

Leather ipod Case?

I just got an iPod 30GB for Christmas and have the invisible shield, but I want something that will protect it against dings, drops, etc. I would prefer leather, but all the ones i've come across have clickwheel protectors- which i don't want. Any suggestions?

you could always cut off the click wheel protector, or you can see www.vajacases.com

Damn, those look sweet, lots of detail and custom options, pretty price tag too but an elegant and nice case...

I might save up for one.

5g ipod cases

I myself purcahsed a zCover for my 60 gig 5g black. It does work well for its use but it does add a little bulk to your ipod and it also cant proper dock connect. Ive been looking for the perfect 5g case that can dock connect the only one that claims is the iSkin and by the looks of the one that was posted on the other thread with the dock port covered by that piece of plastic even moved out of the way you couldnt dock connect properly. Anyone have any suggestions?

iSkin Evo3, without a doubt. Provides 100% cover of the iPod, has a HUGE plastic faceplate which provides 100% visibility of the iPod's screen, it's Dock-friendly so you NEVER have to remove it, AND it actually draws a lot of looks from people around you.

Definitely worth the extra money.

Ive seen this asked already but so far no answers. Can you use the Agent 18 case and Invisable shield? Is there enough room inside the Agent 18 case? I will need to remove the pod from the case occasionally to fit into a dock and would still like to enjoy the protection of the Invisable shield. How about the Speck case?

Also, how about the "Contour Showcase". does the 60gb video pod fit into this? This would be my ideal but no 5g version yet.
