And no, it doesn't really work well if you want to use the speakers. It doesn't dampen the volume much, but it will muffle the sound quality. If playing music while docked is important to you, you are probably better off with the Sendstation Dock Extender in conjunction with an Apple docking station.

Couldn't you mill a slick horizontal groove in the front that went through to the docking well? If done nicely, I don't think it would detract from the look of the dock. Could even be shaped with rounded ends somewhat like the volume slider or progress bar on an iPhone.

Just a thought...I'd buy one!

Or... a thin milled cylinder or slight cone shape (essentially, a hole in the front side) from the outer part all the way in to the speaker?

Just ordered 1 can't wait. I also have the innodock jr. dock it also works great. I use the innocase 2 case for both the 2g and 3gs and it fits into ever dock, clock and etc. I've tried. Its a great case...

What my brother "doneall" means by he has a friend who knows a guy, he means me. I am the one who makes these custom docking stations.

I am an engineer and the production manager for a manufacturing company. I developed it after I upgraded my 2G iPhone to the 3GS and wanted to dock it while in a case. But I couldn't find anything anywhere, so I made my own. And I figured there must be other people in the same situation.

The base is machined from solid aluminum and has a standard sync cable pressed inside. The cable is 36" long.

Your phone is guaranteed to fit. If it doesn't, I will give you a full refund. If your not sure which pocket size you need, you can tell me what case you have and I will make sure you get the correct fit. The standard slim has been tested on the ifrogz (as seen in the pics), Seidio Innocase, and Incase Slider Case. They all fit great.

I'm currently working on a black anodized model and one made from solid oak.

Is the "Home" button still accessible?
I would get a couple of these if the sound could still come through clearly and the home button was accessible.

dano31415,

Ive been looking for something like this for months... I thought I was going to have to make my own... I even ordered 3 cables to do it about an hour before I stumbled onto a link to your site. If this works, I will be buying a couple of more, just for around the house and the office...

Hopefully you can cut me a break on shipping...

OHHHHH! i want a couple of these in black! and the black would look great with my ifrogz!

which size would fit the switcheasy rebel? i'll bet hubby would like one of these for his desk, too!

ok.... i have another question.... could you use a larger size but with a slimmer case? i.e. if you have an otterbox but also an ifrogz... will the phone sit/stay in the larger dock when it's in the smaller case?

Black has arrived!

I just got the black docks back from the anodizer yesterday. They look AWESOME! I've already shipped a few to some people who pre-ordered.

To answer some questions. Yes the home button is still accessible. I milled out a section in front so that the home button is fully visible.

I've thought about trying to add some holes to improve sound quality. I'm not an acoustic engineer, so I think it would be a lot of guessing and checking as to what would give the clearest sound. I also thought it might make take away from the looks of the dock. But I think I'll try it sometime soon. If I stumble upon something good, I'll let you know.

You can always use a smaller case or no case with a larger pocket size. The phone just won't be supported in back. It will only be held up by the 30-pin connector. Which is fine as long you are gentle with it. I hate to admit it, but if the case size is changing all the time, the Innodock might be the better way to go.

My latest creation!

I think this might be the best yet.

I had someone contact me who wanted a dock that would fit inside a hole cut into his desk, with the top of the dock about flush with the desktop. So I tried it and here is how it turned out. Sorry the picture quality isn't the greatest. I took the pics with my phone.

My desk came with several holes already for wires, so it worked out great. It can fit a hole from 2.95" to 3.4" in diameter.

That would be for me. :D

Looks great! Can't wait to get it and plop it in my new desk!

Great that you are working on the sound issue!
If you come up with anything even half way let us know!
This is going to be the most awesomest product around!
:D

I agree. Keep us posted on the trial and error with sound. Keep in mind that the iPhone isn't high fidelity, so it won't take much.

ya.... no thanks on the innodock recommendation... i've read a few not-so-great reviews on them (phones not syncing while using the cradle, etc.)

which size for the switcheasy rebel serpeant?

I got my in-desk dock and installed it today and WOW. This thing looks absolutely gorgeous in my new desk. I'll post a review in the next few days when I have a chance.

Switcheasy

Not sure which pocket size would fit the rebel serpeant. I've sent an email to Switcheasy requesting the exact dimensions. It looks like the "thick case" option would be the correct fit, but I want to make sure.

O.K. Got my made2dock This is one sweet piece of art it is beautiful it's really nice. Dan is really cool we had a little problem with paypay processing my payment and Dan worked with me to get it settled and I got mine. "Thanks Dan" It fits my phone with a innocase 2 like a glove. Everything is fine as far as connecting to itunes and syncing. I have a friend who has a birthday coming lucky him. I am also getting one more for my bedside. Its going to be fun watching this product take off.

I have a innodock as do a couple of friends and this is the first I've heard of any problems. It works good it fits any case I can even use it with the belt clip on. As far as quality goes the made2dock is far more superior.

Can you tell us about how the sound comes through when your iPhone is docked as in email and text alert sounds?
Or even when your iPhone rings?
Are the sounds audible or muffled or drowned out?
My issue is with the sound or I would several of these right away.
Thanks

It's actually pretty good it drops a little as far as lows but not much. It's a little muffled but almost hard to tell. Text, email and alerts are really good. It looks like it might change depending on your case. I have the innocase 2 and its flush on the back of the dock around the sides and the front it has a space. It seem to be enough for the sound to pass through. Overall it sounds pretty good.

I should be getting a silver Made2Dock in a few days and i will do a review on it.
slim version fits the incase slider.

It's much appreciated!
