The Snoppa M1 seems to play nice with the iPhone X OSI. It has a significantly different design to other 3 axis gimbals.

So I picked up the Snoppa and have been trying a number of methods of using the nimble

I have tested with the App, the native iPhone camera app & Filmic Pro.
  • Snoppa App @ 2k (the app is junk and the video stutters)
  • Snoppa App @ 1080p (much better.)
  • iPhone Camera App @ 4k 60 FPS
  • iPhone Camera App @ 1080p 60 FPS
  • Filmic Pro Still testing
So far testing seems to indicate the OIS + Snoppa M1 play nice with each other. I'll post samples after the next time i go hiking.

I wonder if it would work with a Moment Photo Case and a lens and a Shure Motiv microphone? I like that there is room on both sides to place these things, just wonder if it would balance.

Here is the problem I found. The clamp is too narrow. I am using an iPhone 10 and I only use a thin bumper case, yet it doesn't seat in the clamp properly. I have to take the case off. That aside i'm very impressed so far. The fact that there is no arm on the side means the area around the thunderbolt port is free for a microphone and there is room for the lens clamp on the other side.

OK i have uploaded some test footage using the Snoppa with an iPhone X. Surprising how poorly Filmic performers with he Snoppa

That's really weird that Filmic Pro looked like that. I have used that app a lot with a DJI Osmo Mobile 1 and 2. Really strange.

On another note, the Snoppa Kylin M looks to be a possible winner. It won't help with the iPhone OIS issues but it can hold the iPhone in a case with a lens and microphone and even a light. I am very tempted to get it.

i'm going to try the filmic again and see if i maybe did something wrong. i'm not very familiar with the app. still for the portability i really like this gimbal even if i can only use the stock app.

Anyone used the Zhiyun Smooth 4 yet? It looks grwat for the price, my only concern being OIS compatibility with the X.

Been seeing reviews on the Moza Mini-Mi and it looks like it's pretty even with most others in terms of features, but includes wireless charging of your phone. For a day of filming, I think that would be a big plus. It also has four separate 1/4" mount points to add accessories and whatnot.

For that design at that price i would just get the Osmo Mobile 2

Wireless charging actually seems like a genius idea. If I had to choose I’d rather have some sort of mic input instead

Nice! I like the mount points. I don't think the osmo 2 has these event!

I have a Movi Cinema Robot, had a Zhiyun Smooth Q, Osmo 1 & 2 and a Snoppa M1. The Movi is great. You can place a microphone on the handle if you buy their hoodie. And then you just plug it into your phone with the proper cable. Although, I bought a Zoom H1n and I have been recording audio separate from my iPhone and synching it later on my Mac. I get much better quality audio, than even with a nice Rode microphone connected to my iPhone.

For me the downside of the traditional style gimbals is they don't have room to plug a cable into the phone and they really aren't made for the weight of much more than a phone.

The app store won't let me review the app in writing (only stars of which, I gave it a 5!) so my thoughts are here.

The name is perfect as this is exactly what the app is? Buttery smooth.

The first launch has a clear-cut screen of what the app needs access to (camera, microphone - the usual stuff!) but it's nice to see it laid out instead of having a million notifications that you annoyingly may miss.

The interface is simple with few options there which is what you want when recording. You can dig deep if you want to but the UI of seemingly surface switches makes you focus on the action instead of fiddling with settings. Nice. The zoom slider is present which is responsive to use. There is a helpful option to load a sort of spirit level which locks in place when the camera is perfectly horizontal. That's staying on for me. There is a grid and other things too. The audiometer overlay is nice. I'm not sure if it works with bluetooth microphones but that would be a bonus (I'm thinking Airpods). Ok, how's the footage? buttery smooth! It flows well, no jitter, unlike other gimbal apps. I'm not sure what the trick is here but I'm shocked that other gimbal makers don't include this trickery in their own apps. I've not tested this with an osmo mind you, just a smooth q but I'm happy to make this my go-to app. Maybe the icon could have a toast/film relation to appeal to the pro users of some sort? That's all I have. Recommended!

Thanks for the thoughts. Yeah, if you get an app for free, Apple doesn't count your rating stars or review. I got the BT suggestion - I'm listening if anyone else has suggestions as well - thanks!

I use an app to record video then extract photos out of that video before everything is uploaded. Currently use a Beast Grip while I'm doing that. I bought an Osmo 2 with hopes of smoothing out the video. It generally doesn't look bad but I'd like to take it to the next level of being smoother and not have any bounce while I'm walking. I don't think it's going to work out because I believe I have to use an app that works with the Osmo. I can't use the other app if I'm doing that. And suggestions before the Osmo goes back?

Thanks!

Maybe use the standard Osmo with the m1 attachment and use a z-axis to remove the bounce.

As far as the OIS and Osmo jitter, assuming you’re using a plus model, why not just switch to the Tele lense in Filmic? Works great. No OIS on that lense. I use it with an anamorphic lense and it looks incredible. I actually prefer the way this lense looks over the wide.

I'm looking at the Movi. I have the Rhode Video Mic Pro Plus. If I purchase the hoodie can I turn the mic around so it is facing me so I can do selfie videos? Looks really nice and I am hoping I can.
