I really like having the knob to open and close the actual phone holder on the original Osmo. In the video it appears that the Osmo 2 is simply a spring, and the knob is used to change the orientation of the holder. That’s a deal breaker for me. And the software is the same, unless they are updating it so I assume the jitters people see with the original will be seen with the new version.
Using an iPhone X
Jitter with every step is hard to avoid on every handheld gimbal. It's due to the shock when we put our foot down onto the firm ground that transmits the vibration to the phone. The only way to reduce this vibration is to also add those small rubber anti-vibration bits to the gimbal, just like those on the DJI Phantom drone, however I don't know how you can implement them on a handheld gimbal.Ugh! As he walks, switching to the back camera, there's jitter with EVERY step on the iPhone X.![]()

One thing I also noted on that video is not just that jitters, there are also small shakes. I wonder if the existing problem like the Osmo 1 still present in this new Osmo 2, with the built-in OIS of iPhone interfering with the function of this gimbal, causing these shakes?
Yes, that's one technique people need to learn to do. You can often see those professional cameramen when shooting holding those two-handed big mechanical gimbals, they walk like a ninja.or #NINJAWALK
You also have the DoBot Rigiet, which is similar to the OSMO Mobile....
Wouldn't trust Rigiet, especially with their terrible kickstarter campaign.
How can I mark this as the solution to this threadit looks perfect and I hope it works with the iPhone X!
Glad I didn't buy a Flowmotion now
Am I correct in that the Flowmotion is still the only one that claims to correct the OIS jitter issues that plague all the current gimbals? (and almost certainly the Osmo 2 as well)
As far as I know, yes. I believe they claim is in their software, not the hardware. Since the OIS in the iPhone can't be shut off, due to it being a floating mechanism and no physical lock for it, the only way to truly stop it, is the earth magnet trick to hold it in place. I have my serious doubts their software will stop OIS.
@ducatiti A while back you asked if I use the DJI app or another one to shoot videos. I recently purchased FiLMiC Pro and love it. It works with the Osmo Mobile meaning you can start and stop shooting with the Osmo. The main things I like is being able to quickly lock the exposure so the camera doesn’t suddenly hunt for the proper exposure and ruin the video, you can store presets to quickly change settings, and quickly select between the two rear cameras on the X. For me it was worth the cost. One problem I have with the DJI app is it seems that you can only open the video app when you’re connected to the Osmo. Like right now I was wondering if I can lock exposure in the DJI app, but I’ll have to connect to the Osmo and I can’t right now.
I have seen also the FlowMotion One app. I liked it. Easily set presets, separate focus and exposure and lock each, and also slide your finger around the desired subject, to box it in, to track. Not being on the One, but moving the iPhone around quickly and the focus square stuck to the subject. Once that app is released I will for sure be testing it.
You can decide where to save the videos. Either in the FiLMiC app and be able to view and edit and then send out or just save straight to your camera library. For now I have chosen to just save to my camera roll. I like the idea of the Osmo 2, being lighter and the 15 hour battery, but I think we’ll find out the original is a higher quality gimbal. I placed a preorder at Apple (just couldn’t resist). After testing I will either return it or sell my original. Thanks for the info!
For Filmic, does it save the videos on the app or directly to the phone's library?
For now, I decided to return the Osmo 1 and just wait for the newer version.
I'm in the hunt for a high end Bluetooth headphone hehe.

No. Apple web site says it comes with a power cable and instructions. That’s it.Do you think it will come with a hard case like the Smooth?
Video only. Worth it still.Hi Noob question,
Can FilMic Pro take photos? As in point and shoot only, not to record videos? Can't find the in youtube.
Thanks
Video only. Worth it still.
I guess the video is referring to the ease of shooting video with a point and shoot camera.I am confuse here though
It says on the description and video " Gives you ease of use of point and shoot camera..."

I really don’t know, but reading the comments on the FlowMotion Kickstarter page, they talk about magnets in the FlowMotion One. Maybe that’s how they solve this issue. I don’t think it’s in software. Not sure if you all saw this: EVO actually admits the issue and does not 'dance around it' like other manufacturers. The issue is with the iPhone hardware, not with the gimbal and their App/software.

The magnet seems to be a reasonable solution.
I saw some mention Flowmotion...not sure about the status on that unit, but 3.5 hours of battery life is rather weak imo.
Have anyone of you checked out the Freely MOVI? Seems to be pretty slick, but then again, not sure if they can or will address the jitter either..
