Can you provide footage of these?

I've seen many hands-on videos & can't recall a failure.

hi Ralfi

The last 5 or 6 days I have been watching a lot videos regarding the iPhone X. I even came to the point, ''okay, now I am done with watching these videos'' haha....lets wait and see how thing work out once people have these units in hands.

I don't want to make it bigger then it is, but I saw some videos of FaceID failing the first time, but again I cant recall where I saw them exactly.
I certainly think they will iron all or most of the FaceID flaws during 2018, I guess it will be similar with what happened with TouchID, I think FaceID 2nd gen will work perfectly fine.

The simplicity in finding some of these

No, you would rather spend a lot more time playing the " you must show me" game for simple stuff.

Showing or not it doesn't matter to me one bit. He can show me or not, up to him. Just don't waste time explaining anything irrelevant.

Not always. My phone is in my cradle while driving. iPhone dings with new message arrival. I ask Siri to read my new message. It says I have to unlock my iPhone first. I keep my eyes on the road and place my finger on Touch ID and then Siri reads me my message. All issues of using your iPhone while driving aside, it's an issue for which we will need to adapt.

I just tried it on my iPhone 7. I locked the device and asked Siri to read me my messages. Did NOT require me to unlock.

Did you ask Siri using "Hey Siri?" or by holding down the home button? Are you running iOS 11?

I am running iOS 11. I tried with both Hey Siri and pressing the button. Both times it worked fine without unlocking.

Curious. Why do you feel it is a major step forward? Forward and beyond Android or major step forward from previous version of the iPhone?
I think a major step forward in hardware. The A11 chip alone looks to be a major step forward against any comparable hardware out there. The A10 is still close or at the top of the game still and it’s been out a year. Look at the gains with the new iPad Pro models and now the A11. The integration of hardware to make Face ID work with the camera, IR, and sensor tech. I don’t think it’s a major step forward against Android as far as hardware, except for the A11 chip by honestly I’m not well adept technically to say. It just seems Apple is extendeding their lead in chip design looking at the A10/A10X/A11.

I’ve mentioned this in other threads but I do think we are getting to the point of diminished returns especially on a year to year basis in the smartphone and electronics industries

I still think this is a crazy complaint. There is only one step. Swiping up. You are going to look at your screen anyway. So it’s a swipe instead of a press.

You're missing the point which is that each brand is striving to give you more features and make the software more streamlined and convenient to use, to save you time, to help you do more with your phone. You can't be going backwards with this stuff, especially on a one of a kind, super expensive flagship device.

If you're a light user, I guess it won't be such a big deal to have to unlock your phone slower than you're used to but if you're a power user and have to do it hundreds of times a day ... I don't know, everyone is different, it would bother me a lot.

How is this going backwards? The FaceID unlock with be seamless and instant. So all you are doing is swiping. Not sure what the complaint is here.

Thanks for replying, Geert.

Yeah exciting times these next few weeks for those of us considering the X. Hope all the concerns turn out to be less of an ordeal to those who are currently crying foul from the rooftops :D

Definitely requires an unlock on 10.3.

Mine has always read messages to me. Even before iOS 10. Check your settings. Siri settings, notifications preview settings and message notification settings.

Especially Touch ID & Passcode settings.
