Yeah that would be great, also the option to resize the keyboard.

Yep, that too.

----------

Hopefully the ios version will catch up, I really do like swiftkey.

I was disappointed with SwiftKey because it did not have the theme that I want, which is the split keyboard theme. Also, I'm using an iPad Mini. It seems that these first versions of SwiftKey and Swype for iOS did not include any split keyboard layouts that I want. I'm sticking with the stock iOS keyboard on my iPad Mini because it has a split keyboard layout.

I'm expecting that some time in the future, there will be third party keyboards that are better suited for the iPad Mini.

One thing I do like about SwiftKey is the cloud feature is included. As I have SwiftKey on my Android device and it has learned my typing style, that information is available for the iOS version. I won't have to wait for it to relearn my typing style.

Swiftkey. I like being able to use multiple languages on one keyboard. But it does need more themes! Also, it doesn't click when I type.

I've tried just about everything to get these keyboards to work on my iPad Mini Retina. Are they working for you guys? I got some of them working on my wife's iPhone 5, but they were glitchy at first with them disappearing on me at the start. The iPad version of Flesky is invisible, and the iPad version of Swift Key has a blank background overlay. I've tried removing and re-adding them, deleting them entirely from my device and reinstalling, and rebooting the system multiple times. Help?

Having issues with SwiftKey. Won't stay as the default. I've moved it to the top of the list in the Keyboard settings but most of the time the normal keyboard comes up instead. Many times the little globe icon isn't there either to switch. I've also tried holding down on the globe and selecting SwiftKey there but it seems to forget that and switch back the next time I try to send a text.

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded SwiftKey but, some apps still pull up the iOS keyboard first. Yes, I moved it to the top of the list in the General-Keyboard-keyboards settings.

I thought I found a solution by deleting the default iOS keyboard under those settings but, then I can't reply to anything on the lock screen because I guess Apple doesn't allow third party keyboards to access the lock screen.

It's just annoying having to switch keyboards so much, I wish you could tell iOS to always bring up a specific one first. I'll probably stop using Swiftkey because of this.

I'm having the same problem. Also, at least on my 5, it lags when keyboard "pops" in. The new default iOS 8 keyboard is pretty good, but I may try Swype now.

anyone notice with the default keyboard while in messages or whatsapp, when you finish a sentence and the last word is misspelled, the autocorrect will pop up above it but when you hit send it won't correct the word. in ios 7 hitting send would correct the word automatically. if it's a word in the middle of a sentence and you hit spacebar or punctuation it does correct it so that's not an issue.

Count me as one who cannot get it to stay as default. I just want the same keyboard at all times. I am fine using Swiftkey for passwords. Been doing it for years on Android.

The biggest issues on SwiftKey right now is not being able to use it when the phone is locked in quick reply.

And also there's a weird thing when you go to a message it doesn't scroll to the bottom.

But all of these are manageable to finally get SwiftKey

Is the IOS keyboard that bad?

Actually, I prefer the iOS keyboard on the iPad Mini over SwiftKey for iOS. From what I have heard so far, iOS third party keyboards are not as feature rich as their Android counterparts. This should change as more features get added as time goes on.

My reason for wanting to use a third party keyboard is for features that the iOS keyboard doesn't have. Unfortunately, the first versions of these third party keyboards on iOS don't have many of them either.

I think that this poll should also include an option for the iOS stock keyboard. I would have voted for the iOS keyboard if that option were available.

I like both Swype and Swiftkey, preferring Swiftkey a bit more as punctuation seems to be easier.

I want to like Touchpal since it has easier punctuation gestures due to the labeling on the keys, but I hate hate hate the way it doesn't put the word in the text field until you either select it or start to enter another word. I don't know why it bugs me... But it does.

I felt the same way. I tried it a few times but just couldn't get over not seeing the letters as I typed. It was bizarre and felt unnatural.

We'll see if it changes with an update. Because I liked the gesture input, the emoji's built into the keyboard.

I have Swiftkey on my Android tablet and really just wish I could have the stock keyboard on it.

I do not see what all the fuss is about.

Swype. Prettier, more like default iOS keyboard. I can easily add new words. For privacy part, it doesn't require full access, thus data is not leaving my device.

Some things that I don't like are:

• I can't change my keyboard's language with one short tap.
• When I click on Safari's address bar, suggestions show up and they block a bit of my bookmarks.
• Only a few languages at launch.

Looks like SwiftKey is the best so far and it's only the first version.

I'm guessing after it gets a couple more updates it will be the best and apple might try to make it the default in the future.

Maybe it's just me, but the predictive text doesn't seem to help me type any faster (either in the stock keyboard or SwiftKey). It makes me look at the choices popping up and verify the word is correct before I can use it to finish the word. I'd rather type the whole word out and have a good autocorrect.

I voted for Swype since I can swipe-spell out the whole word faster than watching word suggestions popping up. Hoping for an update (whether it's 8.0.1 or Swype update) that will make the keyboard choice remain constant. It keeps reverting back to stock.

Is using predictive text more efficiently just an acquired skill? Does it get faster to use over time?

Not really, no. If you're halfway competent at typing on the stock keyboard, the predictions are essentially useless.

After using SwiftKey for over a year, I generally don't bother with the text prediction. I may use it on occasion when typing a very long word. In that case, the text prediction will save me keystrokes. Most of the time, I just rely on the auto correction feature of SwiftKey which I feel is the best amongst all of the keyboards I have tried. The other ones I have used to a large extent are Swype, Kii, Google and iOS. I feel SwiftKey beats all of these when it comes to prediction and auto correction.

There are a few instances where the predictive text did make a different. On occasion, I have texted a friend the same or similar message many times. Usually, it is something like, "I'll meet you at 8." After I type, "I'll", SwiftKey predicts the rest of my sentence because I typed that sentence often. If there are some sentences that you use very often, SwiftKey may save you time in typing those sentences. Most of the time, I'm typing something that hasn't been repeated to a great degree. It's interesting, but I doubt you would come across it often enough to make typing a significant improvement in speed overall.

Swype beats SwiftKey if I gesture type. For gesture typing, Swype is clearly the best.

Swift key keeps telling me I need to enable full access but I did as instructed. Even rebooted to see if that changed.

I am not sure I can put in the effort to let another keyboard program learn how I type. It was a horrible mess testing it and I have taught ios over a long period of time. Not sure I am up for the amount of re typing I would need to do just because I clearly don't hit the right keys with my fingers

Same here. Swiftkey won't even let me use the "flow" (it's version of swipe) anymore because it thinks that I don't have "full access" anymore (even though I DID authorize it). In addition, it's constantly rolling up my texts to earlier messages when I open the keyboard. Just seems buggy. Might have to stick with the default ios keyboard.

EDIT- Checking out the Swiftkey troubleshooting on their site, looks like sometimes people are getting this message and all they have to do is go back into Settings--General---Keyboard---Swiftkey and toggle the Full Access off and back on. That worked and it's working for me again.

I keep tossing back and forth between Swiftkey and the stock keyboard. Might try fleksy one of these days...

It's really starting to bother me that SwiftKey does not have shortcuts/macros.

Such as with iOS keyboard, you can enter in the shortcut "cys" with the phrase "Catch you soon!"; then when you type the shortcut "cys" it will type out "Catch ya soon!".

Does Swype allow shortcuts/macros like this? The iOS keyboard does at least.
