anyone else not having flow on ipad using swiftkey - iphone shows it

This is stated in the description for Swiftkey in iTunes:

Supports iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 8 and above.
*SwiftKey Flow is currently only available on iPhone and iPod touch.

SwiftKey has been the best keyboard on Android for years now. Too many ios users are paranoid when they see the full access message and don't want to read into why they need full access checked.

Based on the above link it looks like they use it to interact with the the container app.

The only time they may store key strokes are the opt in only cloud services used when you log in your Gmail or Facebook account.

Thanks for the info!

However, "best" is not objective, its subjective but I do appreciate the info on the "Full Access" stuff.

Np.

I say best because if you look at the Google play store it has the most and highest reviews for years.

Figured so.

If Justin Beiber is #1 on the Billboard charts X consecutive weeks or even for 1 day, does that make him the "best"? I love JB... jk lol. Just giving you a hard time.

Haha yeah well I suppose it would be an accurate example if the majority of Americans liked Justin Bieber

I've had to disable the new third party keyboards as most seem to be very tempremental. I've stuck to the new QuickType for now until SwiftKey updates their app. I know Flesky just updated theirs.

I just put iOS 8 on my iPhone 5S and installed SwiftKey. The bugs with SwiftKey is just too much for me now. In landscape mode, you cannot see the last line which is the line you are typing if the message is long enough to fill more than the screen. When switching from portrait to landscape, the keyboard is in the middle of the screen instead of at the bottom of the screen. This happens on most, but not all apps I have tried. Also, in some places, it keeps reverting to the iOS stock keyboard. How disappointing that I've been waiting for this feature and it is unusable to me.

It only reverts back to the stock keyboard when entering passwords and credit card details etc.

I'll happily return to swift key once the bugs have been killed.

I have tried swiftkey, Fleksy and Swype. I still don't understand how Fleksy is supposed to work (though it does seem to have the best auto-correct of the three). Swiping with swiftkey just somehow feels more fluid and 'error-free' compared to Swype.

My vote goes to swiftkey, and hey, it's free too (which does concern me a little. How are they going to monetise it? Additional template designs in the future?).

I'd love to answer this but third party keyboards don't work worth a ****, I switch between them and the damn things disappear. I have to disable them and turn them back on in settings multiple times, I give up!!

Agreed, very buggy. Swype just disppears for me, and I can't type anything. I have to quit the app from memory (Mail, Messages, whichever one I was trying to type in) and reopen it to get the keyboard back.

We need to report these things to Apple

Yes that is correct. 3rd party keyboards are not allowed to be used when you enter a password. See also Apple's developer page concerning 3rd part keyboards. Another thing which they also don't allow is using a Siri/voice button in a 3rd party keyboard. You then need to switch to the Apple keyboard as well :(

I read about this odd problem and it could be that either of these fixes could resolves it for you:

- I had activated the guided access in my Accessibility Settings. Now after deacivating this option the third-party keyboards appear insteed of the grey box

Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access (off)

AND/OR

- At first I reset the keyboard dictionary.

How to reset the keyboard dictionary:
Settings - General - Reset - Reset Keyboard Dictionary

Then I additionally allowed "full access" for the Minuum third party keyboard:
Settings - General - Keyboard - Keyboards - Minuum Keyboard - Allow Full Access
If I remove the full access the keyboard disappears again. So it must be this setting.

source: Apple official forum (users posted these solutions)

You could also try changing the order of the keyboards in settings of the keyboards. So first have Swype and then e.g. Apple keyboard.

Thank you. The problem was I didnt allow full access.

Yeah I figured that out but the problem is that's not convenient. If Apple wants to allow third party keyboards then do it correctly or else don't do it at all.

For passwords and credit cards, I am fine with Apple keeping it secure. It 3rd parties make mistakes, or are hacked, or are malevolent, we are screwed.

Swype does 90% of what I want, and when it catches up with Android Swype, then it will do 95%.

I like Swiftkey, but it hasn't the Siri-dictation-feature. Also my text shortcuts are not working. So I switched back to the iOS 8 standard keyboard. :(

Well they need to find a way around that, switching keyboards when typing the password and credit card stuff is not good enough.

They won't, and it's not going to happen due to security purposes. What's the issue with typing in passwords with the default keyboard? Do you swipe your password and credit card numbers?

Consistency, that's the problem. Anyway I am using the stock keyboard and not even going try any more third party keyboards. The UX is completely different from Android I must say when it comes to third party keyboards.

That's what it is supposed to do. When I tried it out, it suddenly started to revert back to the stock keyboard almost every time.

Me, too. Even though it only has some of the features it has compared to the Android version, I still like it more on the iPhone 5S than the stock keyboard. For my iPad Mini, I'm going to wait for a split layout to be available.

Yea, I also want the third party keyboards to be able to use voice dictation and my keyboard shortcuts.

Adaptxt

Adaptxt has launched in the AppStore and it's a great keyboard! You should check this out, it's free, supports multiple languages even swipe with the difficult Greek keyboard. Check it out guys! The best of all keyboards, paid & free, that I have tested.

It's nice but requires you to grant full access for swiping to work. This is the reason I prefer Touchpal which works without that requirement.

I just tried it, and no, I didn't like it, for me, it doesn't match the build quality and refinement that Swype and Swiftkey have.

The iPhone 6 plus standard keyboard is really annoying. The keys are actually smaller than on the iPhone 6 and are in the middle of the phone in landscape mode. Is there any way to change this keyboard to be larger or is there a 3rd party keyboard that doesn't sit in the middle of the phone and you have to reach for?
