The good old stock Apple keyboard with predictive turned off. Seeing the words constantly changing for predictive is just bothersome. If SwiftKey:

A) Didn't have to allow the devs be sent info about what you type
B) Actually worked

Then I would use it.

Ok, than thats a work around, but no emoji and I hear there is problem if phone is locked and you want to answer an imessage in fastreply

Emoji is for kids man. Lack of quick reply is mildly annoying but not ground-breaking, for me anyway.

I liked TouchPal and Swype but neither offer English UK as an option so until they do i'm sticking with Swiftkey

I like having the long-press punctuations/numbers on TouchPal so that might be my preferred option when its updated.

I tried TouchPal too, and to be honest, it has nothing to do against Swype or Swiftkey, Swype is my favorite, but I can understand why so many people choose Swiftkey, it's free.

What do you mean with 'to be honest, it has nothing to do against Swype or Swiftkey'?

Touchpal seems very nice in my opinion. However also like many others still missing quite some language support.

I guess this answers the enable "Full Access" for Swype :)

That's great news. This is the link to the FAQ at Swype.

After seven years of typing on the standard iOS keyboard, I feel fast and accurate without these new keyboards. I don't need them (including the Apple keyboard) to guess what word I want to use next, but perhaps if I were to learn to type this way, I'd benefit from the convenience.

But I'm still very interested. Swiping is great for entering longer words that might otherwise tangle my thumbs. (At least on the 5S I use at present).

I think Swiftkey looks great but I'm very inaccurate when I type on it—it doesn't autocorrect my fat thumb errors. But using "Flow"/swiping is good.

But Swype is even better at swiping. And when I mess up swiping, it understands that I want to delete the whole word with the delete key. Very helpful. I also appreciate its shortcuts for punctuation.

None, it seems other than Apple's keyboard, is smart enough to correct "its" and "it's". Which is more important than some may think.

I like Fleksy, too. But seems a bit cumbersome for little benefit (for me).

I actually like the native keyboard b/c it allows for siri and also uses all the shortcuts I've created over the years. I just wish it had the "hold" feature so that you could hold a key and input a number instead of having to go to a different screen to select a number.

At this point, the 3rd party keyboard implementation is just too buggy. I'm back to stock keyboard and I'll jump back in in a few months.

Apple keyboard is the most bug-free for the moment (as it should be), but for one-handed typing I really need Swype. Hope it starts to support eastern languages soon, like its Android counterpart.

Can't get SwiftKey to work as default but now that I've found out that shortcuts don't work forget about it. Use way to many short cuts that's a deal breaker.

Most important is my short cut for email address. Just type in initials and it inputs the email address. As many times a day as I have to use that I don't want to live without it.

Maybe these will improve in the future.

What I mean is, for me, Swype and Swiftkey are the two best and I don't like Touchpal features, it doesn't write the word, it leaves it in the predictive bar until you write something else, the color of the keyboards, the way the line appears when swyping.

And overall it doesn't have the quality and finish of Swype.

This is one of the reasons I like it. You move onto the next word when you are happy with the word it is going to populate in your sentence. This gives you a chance to correct if necessary. It appears the other keyboards populate this word straight away but of course you can easily remove it if it is wrong. Either way, it is just a quick learning adjustment.

FYI for SWYPE;

Q: Do I need to enable “Full Access” for Swype?

A: No. You only need to enable “Full access” if you have “Guided Access” turned on. If “Guided Access” is not turned on, you can keep “Full Access” off and still enjoy all of Swype’s features.

Q: What additional data does Swype collect if I enable "Full Access"?
A: Swype does not collect any additional data if you enable “Full Access”.

Secure or not?

This message put me off swift key. View attachment 492790

The message saying that credit card numbers can be transmitted stopped me dead in my tracks. I'm not overly security oriented, but any cloud can be cracked and are being hijacked by folks that want my money, what little I have of it.
So I'm going to beat that poor horse a little more. We've been trusting Apple all the time already, and I've read that when login info, and cc card info etc are input, it is input on the Apple keyboard only and we are just as secure as if we were not using a third party keyboard, so why the message?

This is ONE of the FEW reasons I use Swype over Swiftkey.

I have not tried swiftkey on ios yet but if android is anything to judge by just give swiftkey time to blow them all out of the water.

Swiftkey's predictions are SPOT on and its swipe feature is better than swype itself :D

Ok, I've been trying both Swype and Swiftkey, still don't know which one is the best, the one thing that I like about Swiftkey is that I use English and Spanish dictionary all day, and you don't have to switch the keyboards, it detects automatically which language you are tying in, that's pretty cool.

Best Keyboard?

Enlighten me since I am misinformed. Don't make a claim with no proof of validity.

http://swiftkey.com/en/blog/swiftkey-require-full-access/

SwiftKey has been the best keyboard on Android for years now. Too many ios users are paranoid when they see the full access message and don't want to read into why they need full access checked.

Based on the above link it looks like they use it to interact with the the container app.

The only time they may store key strokes are the opt in only cloud services used when you log in your Gmail or Facebook account.

Same here. Keyboard shortcuts for email addresses are a real timesaver for me too. I won't live without them.

I would like to try SwiftKey and allow full access, my only question is how do they make money? I can't understand how they can give it away for free? That's why for now I'm using Swype. Does anyone know?

They want everyone on their keyboard and they said soon they will add themes and premium features that you pay for like on Android.
