Anyway, I can see the appeal of having a larger screen in a device that folds to be much smaller in your pocket, but I don't know if I could go back to an iPhone without Face ID.
After using an iPad with Touch ID on the button on the top edge of the device, it's just not convenient. iPhones with Touch ID on the front were always quite convenient and intuitive (and maybe even superior for authenticating Apple Pay), but I don't think even under-screen Touch ID would work well for this form factor, because the way you hold this phone will necessarily be quite different to a traditional iPhone. Maybe they've figured out a good solution though.

I 3d printed a model a few days ago, as I expected,it is just WAY to short. It really needs to be around an inch taller at least , both the outer screen and the inner one are far too small, but I hope to be proven wrong somehow. Honestly should be like two airs stuck together, but now it’s just like 2 thirds of 2 airs.

As an iPhone Mini & iPad Mini user, I wish I could say this solved anything for me and was of interest.
It really doesn't appear to be so, though.
For an iPad it's too oddly shaped, small & clunky (with a fold) and as an iPhone, even folded, it's too wide for me.

$2,000 plus for this device? 😂 The 20th anniversary iPhone XX will definitely look better and I will be getting that one next year 📱

I was with you 1000% all the way up until the end…I see tons of ppl (older adults and younger college age) with two camera iPhones and I certainly don’t think poor…i mean I do think I see more pros out in the wild but when I see regulars there is no looking down and I’m fairly confident in saying most others feel similarly.
Sales numbers for this thing will be SUPER interesting! It seems like there’s a lot of people on here and on Reddit who are not only not interested in the phone but actually annoyed by the very idea of it. Those of us who are actually interested and excited for the release seem to be a small minority. Personally I can’t wait! It’s been years since the iPhone had a new form factor. My phone is something I use every single day so I’m looking forward to seeing how this new form factor changes the way I use my phone.

Foldable phones have been out for 7+ years now, and the technology hasn’t changed all that much. What has Apple been doing in terms of RD to make this more advanced and refined? I’m confused 🤔

It will be sold out everywhere and demand will be higher than production can keep up with. It will also be, like every first and second gen Apple product, very unrefined.
The reason why Apple is releasing such iPhone: Apple is in FOMO-mode regarding foldables... nothing more, nothing less.
doesnt bother me. I plan to put it in a case anyways. I have never walked around with a iphone NOT in a case. Thats the great thing about cases. You can change the color of them, they protect your phone and can even add extra functionality to them. My iphone 11 pro max i had for 3 years. It dident have magsafe built in. I bought a magsafe case for it, blam, i got magsafe charging! Dident need to upgrade that phone for another year or so.
if you dont like the color, you can always buy a skin or a case for it, or better yet, not buy the phone!

I don’t understand why we can’t have a normal lens + telephoto combo. The wide angle camera always looks like crap anyways. I also am having trouble figuring out what I’m looking at without a screen turned on it’s hard to tell what it will be like scale wise. Wish there were more photos.
Probably how deep the sensor has to be and the flange distance.

Maybe but we don’t know what cameras will be used on the fold. I also think my criticism applies to other iPhones
