Why don’t they offer white in the iPhone max? So clean and cool looking. I really miss the space black color too. Or maybe space gray. I had to go with boring silver this year for the iPhone 17. Hate the orange. Turn it off. Road construction ahead. I got the Samsung s26 ultra in cobolt purple. Love that color. Two tone depending on the lighting

Okay, then give me a use case where the Fold’s slightly larger screen provides a truly significant advantage compared to, say, using an iPhone Pro Max in landscape mode.
And I don’t mean theoretical scenarios where you could supposedly work on documents, because that’s just as frustrating on a Fold as it is on any regular smartphone. For that kind of work, you need a computer.
People want bigger screens because they’ve been convinced they need them, but in reality, most Fold users don’t do much more with their devices than people with a regular large smartphone. The main difference is that they might watch videos on a bigger screen.
It’a not that much larger unfolded than a regular big smartphone. It’s a gimmick.
Welcome to iPads, where cameras are also at a corner. Same with most phones nowadays, just that it doesn't seem that way.

They can't be serious with that design lol. That's extremely ugly. Samsung's design is way better than that. Go back to the drawing board and make something that looks and feels better in the hand.
Sonny Dickson today shared detailed images of a foldable iPhone dummy unit with what appears to be a finalized design, providing the best look yet at the device's look, with the suggestion that the device may only be available in white.
Dummy units are non-functional units intended primarily for display purposes and accessory manufacturers, who need a high level of physical accuracy to mass produce cases and other accessories ahead of a device's announcement. Dickson first shared early-production dummy models of the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in April, providing the first real visual confirmation of the foldable's passport-style form factor.
The latest foldable iPhone dummy is markedly more detailed than those that have previously circulated. Earlier this week, the leaker known as "Ice Universe" shared what appeared to be an image of a white foldable iPhone dummy, but Dickson's unit offers a substantially clearer view of the design and display.

The images align with the wider body of design rumors accumulated so far. The device is expected to feature a book-style, passport-shaped design with a 4:3 aspect ratio, wider than it is tall and unlike any foldable currently on the market, with a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner OLED panel that would make it just slightly smaller than the iPad mini when open.
Rumors point to an ultra-thin 4.5mm titanium frame, with volume buttons relocated to the top edge of the device, no Action Button, Touch ID in place of Face ID, and a horizontal dual-camera array on the back in an iPhone Air-style camera plateau.
The latest dummy models reveal several new design aspects, such as the fact that the cover display will be edge-to-edge and slightly curved at the edges, the camera flash will be located below the rear microphone in the camera plateau, the rear microphone has a new design consisting of seven drilled holes, and the front-facing camera on the inner display is located on the top left. This will almost certainly have implications for the Dynamic Island.
On the device's color, Dickson's observation corroborates a report from Friday, in which the Weibo leaker known as "Instant Digital" suggested that there may be no black finish, with white potentially being the only option. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple planned to avoid bold colors and stick to traditional finishes.
It is worth noting that several new high-end products such as the Apple Watch Ultra and Vision Pro only launched with one color option. The approach would be broadly consistent with how Apple has handled generationally significant launches before. The iPhone X debuted in November 2017 in just two colors, Silver and Space Gray, at a then-record starting price of $999. The iPhone XS that followed a year later added Gold to the lineup, and Apple may take the same incremental approach with the iPhone Ultra over time.
The foldable iPhone is expected to be announced in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, at a starting price Gurman says will cross the $2,000 threshold.

Exactly. FaceID is an amazing feature that has been on even non-Pro iPhones for many years now. The TouchID button on my iPad Mini is the one thing about it I legitimately dislike, all my other iOS devices have FaceID.
I might be willing to give a folding iPhone a try just to see how good Apple's attempt is or isn't. But $2K+ to go back to pre-iPhone X touch ID, a feature that's relegated to lower-tier iPads and not currently offered on ANY other iPhone?
Even the e-model bottom-tier iPhones have had FaceID for two generations now.
We'll obviously have to wait and see what Apple actually announces, but I have a hard time imagining they'll launch a folding iPhone with a feature they've been pushing down the line and out of premium phones for most of a decade.
I absolutely will NOT be paying a massive premium for a phone with touchID.
I really dislike the huge camera bumps. It's one reason why I prefer the base iPhone over the Pro.

Yeah I don’t know about that wide clamshell design, let alone the single color option being white. If they do a traditional flip phone style design in deep purple, they can have my money.

I say just wait til you try it in person, the way it will snap open and shut and should be of good construction…plus awesome iOS running on it, I think it will be quite the sight to behold…I’m just dying to see how it fits (if at all) in pants pockets (even tho I don’t recommend ppl do that, or worse yet when women put phones in their bras smh)

Surely not? That aspect ratio? IMHO this only works if when folded it’s like a thicker phone and when unfolded more like an iPad. When folded this looks like an awkward size and won’t work well as a phone. It probably won’t fit in my pocket. It probably won’t fit in the recess in my car for wireless charging. Then again, it looks like it might not have wireless charging. If this isn’t substantially a phone first, then what really is it?

In my mind, No. Steve is rolling in his grave. But this is not Apple logic of providing the best piece of hardware above all else. I have always said that Apple hardware is the nicest. Their software is not my favorite because of the my way or the highway attitude, but a device that has the shortcomings of a foldable device, I never thought. Even the AVP is amazing hardware, although way overpriced.

I am sure this is a decoy from Apple. If not, I'm not buying as it looks like a kids toy. It will be more along the lines of the current pro phones.

Step 3: Reveal device that is similar to the dummy unit, but contains refinements. Also, the price points are 15-20 percent lower than the leaked amounts.

I know it's a given that the internet's default state is negative, but man if one listened to Reddit and MacRumors it would seem that anyone who worked on this product should be terminated and that Apple should only ever stick to the current model and iterate - while also be berated each release for not innovating.
This model is not designed to be the primary seller. Much like the Air it's a high-end niche that allows Apple to earn higher margins and possible steal some of this market while also looking "innovative." It's just all part of the iPhone platform - the iPhone is too big and diverse to simply be a "product" now.
I guess I'm in the super ill-informed minority, but this is extremely enticing to me if the software is decent and it allows me to consolidated my iPhone and iPad mini. I know this one device will have compromises and be more costly than being a phone and tablet separately - but if it allows me to merge two devices that always conflict in my personal world then that is a major win.
