I do not trust any commercial apps when it comes to navigating the web. They all have a "privacy policy" but we all know like Goole and Facebook, they will not be held accountable if anything goes wrong. Free and Open Sources Software is the way to go.

I don't understand why there is no uBlock Origin for Safari. Its the de facto standard with privacy concerned community on the internet.
Uhm...I use it on multiple iMacs daily.

Agreed, I'm still using uBlock Origin on Safari but it hasn't been updated in forever. Still works great but I might have to start looking elsewhere.

what is the best safari ad blocker that doesn't slow down page load times and consume a lot of resources?

also I would like if the ad blocker would also remove the collapse/remove the empty space of the removed ads.

any advice?

Firefox!! :D
the new Safari sucks.

how? its not in the extensions gallery

Need to manually install:
https://github.com/el1t/uBlock-Safari/releases

However it looks like everyone using it on Safari+Mac will need to find alternatives soon:
https://github.com/el1t/uBlock-Safari/issues/158

..."From Safari 12 / macOS Mojave, old legacy Safari extensions were still allowed, but came with warnings saying that they will slow down your browsing (they infact won't, or at least not noticably). Safari also recently shut their Extension Gallery, instead redirecting it to the mac app store. Though it is still curently possible to install uBlock Origin by downloading the extension from Github, it will not be starting from Safari 13 / macOS Catalina, when the legacy entension API will be fully deprecated."

but why is uBlock Origin neglected on Safari? A lot of other adblockers are supported.

The answer is literally the first thing on the page of the link you replied to.

https://github.com/el1t/uBlock-Safari/issues/158

I run away from anything that says GitHub as I am not a programmer. Never opened that link, either way Ublock was not officially supported I think it was someone else who imported it.

That being said, this is even more reason to NOT use Safari. Apple wasting their time with this browser. Already small market share and now limited plugins including one of the most essential most popular ones out there. Privacy Badger and DuckDuckGo plugins are not on the app store either.

This is a sayonara for Safari from me and probably many others.

Odd, but ok.

Take a look at Better Blocker https://better.fyi/

They support only Safari and iOS. They are NOT paid by anyone to unblock (AdBlock Plus has been known to do that for example). The team is husband and wife and they are ardent anti-surveillance advocates, so your payment to them helps support it from that angle, if you care.
Another Better fan and supporter here
I think what these people are doing is really important and the blocker works in a completely different way to any other too.

I'm sorry, but those two statements are seemingly in contradiction.
It’s classic MacRumors mindset! Exhibit A: people complaining about rising iphone prices and then in the same post, goes on about how they updated their 1 TB Xs Max to the 1 TB 11 Pro at full price.. “... but damn you apple!!!1”
