I got the Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protectors (Glas tR EZFit) for my iphone 12 Pro on Amazon for $12.99. Super easy installation and perfect every time. I'll never buy anything else.

Nice review by TechnicallyTee here, on:
  • Caseology Tempered Glass
  • ESR Tempered Glass Screen Protector
  • Caudabe CrystalShield Tempered Glass
  • MagGlass Tempered Glass
  • Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit

He seems very happy with the Caseology offering.
Spigen seems good to the touch?
The ESR however seems the best fit, it goes right up to the edges according to the video. Tempting.

I noticed that the Caudabe Face ID worked a touch faster than the ESR. As both are fullscreen, he focused on Face ID with both, and I there was a slight delay with the ESR that wasn't present with the Caudabe. Having said that, with no tray the Caudabe is out of the question for me. MagGlass only comes with one, and as it's not a premium brand or anything, that's gone too. Leaving the Caseology and the Spigen. I just realized that Caseology is actually owned by Spigen, as such, I bet they are using the same glass. The Spigen has the super easy install though, so that's the winner in my book from this.

I am curious as to why Spigen isn't offering the full-screen protectors. I may be overthinking this but it's like they know something we don't about them affecting the sensors. We'll see in a couple of weeks, if they're selling them left and right then it was just a manufacturing issue I suppose, otherwise there might be a fire to the smoke.

Not sure we can attribute a delay in FaceID to the screen protector, unless everything else is the same (lighting, face angle, angle of phone, etc.) At least ESR goes right to the edge, the others seem to come in around 1mm short. That said, not sure if ESR is a reputable company, like Caudable or Spigen.

Agree regarding Spigen, seem 'best' but lacking full coverage.

So I've always used plastic screen protectors for my iPhones. (Power Support for quite a while)
Matte (really don't like the glossy screens).

The one time I tried a glass protector on my XR, the first one broke trying to put it on and for the second one I couldn't get it on without dust/bubbles. Returned that and got a plastic protector. It's worked out good.

For my iPhone 12 Pro Max, I'm thinking of trying a glass protector again (maybe try a better brand and not a mystery Amazon brand).

First, are there any good plastic screen protectors I should look at first?

I know I may be opening a can of worms, but any thoughts on glass vs plastic?

My biggest concern on glass protectors is how often they may crack and need to be replaced. I've had to replace my plastic ones on occasion when they get too many scratches, but at most a couple times a year.

I may wait until I get my max next week to see how it looks as-is before I settle on matte vs clear/glossy.

I've had a Totallee case for 2 weeks now, so I'm good with that. Don't want a naked phone when I get it. :)

Thanks homie!
You're welcome! Followed your reviews since around 2016 and was checking every day for the new Pitaka ones (I knew you had received them but hadn't published yet - really disliking their logo on the back, they didn't do that previously) as I've had Pitaka since iPhone 7 days!

On the topic of this thread:

1) Did any other screen protector offer as full coverage as the ESR? It seemed to go right to the edge, which is perfect.
2) Would you advise any reason NOT to go for the ESR?

Thanks for the support bro! Yeah I think they put the logo on the back because they wanted to differentiate between their cases and Latercase. Not sure but just as assumption.

1. Yeah the ESR went right to the edge and I don't any of the rest of of them went that close. The Caudabe was close but the ESR was right there. You see in the video I slapped them all on quickly but for some reason the ESR gave my bubbles that were a little stingy to get out and none of the other did really. Not sure if it was a botched install or what but thats the only thing I noticed right off hand.

As we are currently in lockdown does anyone from England know whether Apple are still installing screen protectors if you do click and collect?

I installed 4 of the ESR Protectors on 4 phones with no issues.

This is what I ordered as well. I've used them on my last couple iPhones. Don't see myself changing anytime soon.

The latercase screen protector is made of Gorilla glass. Kind of pricey.

I was hoping to get the Spigen as I've used them on my other iPhones. Didn't get one this time since it would arrive after my phone so I went with the ESR.

Full coverage though, big plus point.

So far, ESR and Latercase offering full coverage. Who else?

Just say no!

Don't use screen protectors, they make your device worse, not better.
I've used devices owned by others that had them on: it really feels much, much worse IMHO.

I've never used a screen protector on any of my iPhones and never got a scratch on the glass at all, never broke the glass either. I do keep it in my pocket with keys etc. and judging from the wear and tear on the (apple) leather case it does have a hard live in my pocket. But the screen: always exposed and never any problem at all.
And no I do not upgrade my phone every year at all - I upgrade when Apple stops handing out software updates or when there's compelling feature I want - my current phone is an X - ordered it the first day it was available. It's still pristine - the leather case could do with a replacement to be honest as it's badly worn.

The new "ceramic" glass is supposed to be even more resistant: why cover it up with something that's more likely to scratch and hard to replace as opposed to not caring at all and just using the device as it was meant to be.

Bold person you. I honestly think it depends on your lifestyle, and preference. I have always had a glass screen protector on my X, but removed it about two weeks ago to replace, but got to busy to replace it. No damage yet, but i'm always worried, especially working in construction and putting odd things in my pocket on occasions. I ordered a ZAGG privacy for my PM, we'll see how it goes. Also, very interesting use of that monopoly deal card....😜

I just installed these.
The picture looks like there’s a black border but there isn’t.
Easiest install I’ve ever done and I HATE installing screen protectors.
I bought both these and the Spigen and I returned the Spigen since they weren’t needed.
Spigen charges for return shipping BTW.

I haven’t used screen protectors, but I always end up with a few scratches on my phone and ipad. Usually fairly deep scratches, within a few days, I think it is from a metal zipper on my bag or paperclips or staples, since I often drop my phone and ipad in my briefcase. So for the incoming iPhone 12 Pro Max I am going to try a screen protector, first time since iPhone 3 or thereabouts..l
