Now that the new version of transmission is out. I/you don't need anything else.

I trashed Azureus, Bits on wheels, Bit Rocket, XTorrent, TRASHED EM ALL!

Transmission is it for me. The extra features in Azurueus are not at all worth it to me.

TRANSMISSION is the goods!

I wish I could switch to Transmission! It's a GREAT app but it's missing the selecting downloading. That feature is a MUST for me :( But I believe they are adding it VERY soon... so YAY!

As long as azureus is the only mac torrent client with transport encryption, I'll stick with that.

i stick with transmission. Dead easy to use, but i like to tweak the GUI to look a little more OSX like.

I've one this, and I'll try and find where I got the icons from (it was a thread on MR) :)

Where did you hear that?

uTorrent through crossover.
I would have voted for transmission if it allow me to do selective download, bt it doesn't.

Here's the thread on the Transmission forums regarding selective downloading, but I read through the whole thing and don't see any indication that this feature is being worked on...

Just for reference, here's the DW blog post regarding what's planned for Xtorrent. And here's the relevant quote:

I’d also like to mention that features like selective file downloading, encryption, and torrentcast autodownloading are absolutely planned for future versions.

Perhaps the poster confused Transmission with Xtorrent?

I have talked with DW, and it became clear that selective file downloading and encryption will be added once they're in Transmission. He just doesn't like to mention that his code is really Transmission's code...might hurt the cash flow.

Ooooo....wow....that's......wow. Getting those features into his client before they end up in libtransmission would be a huge boon for him, but if he's just biding his time until he gets 'em for free, that's just (for lack of a more colorful word) crappy.

Even better would be if he repayed Transmission by implementing it himself and sharing the code with it. But ya, that won't happen.

I absolutely love Azureus, but I'm a "power torrenter" and make great use of the extra features. If you want something simple, Azureus is probably overkill for you - just go with Transmission or uTorrent.

Maybe this has been fixed with an update but older versions of Transmission are banned from some trackers because they didn't follow some Bit torrent protocol. Personally I use Azureus.

Just to comment on this also, several of the private trackers I belong to banned transmission. Not sure if it was just older versions or all versions.

I tried Transmission, didnt like it. I like being able to download parts of torrents. so for me and my needs Azureus all the way.

Old versions were banned, but the current release shouldn't be. If it is banned contact the admin to get it unbanned.

If I do want to use Xtorrent for large torrents, I use this script I made to shut it down after 10 minutes then reopen :)

I used to dislike Azureus for its RAM usage but since I upgraded my MacBook to 2gb it's been fine. I liked Xtorrent a lot, but it's not free and you can't select individual files from a torrent.

Yeah, the individual files thing would be great (and its on its way, in both XT and Transmission), but with the script I posted above, XT acts as if free :)

There is now selective downloading in Transmission!!

Sort of :) It's one of the features in the 0.80 nightly builds, but it hasn't been officially released yet. So, while you can download a nightly build and use it, chances are that it's still pretty buggy.

Good to know it's coming, though. :D

Question, I tried Transmission, and on my first download, my temp shot up to 160F and the fans were blazing to cool it down, is that normal?
