I really like Acquisition, but in the past few days, it's been doing some weird stuff....like the closer to the end of the file, the slower it goes, until say there's just a few megs left, and I have to keep telling it to find more sources (even though it's found 23 peers or something) and it runs at .1 - .4k/sec for 30 seconds, then I have to restart it again....*argh*

Other than the past few days though, it's been an awesome program.

EDIT: The problem I was having just vanished after trying some different servers.

Before switching recently, I'd been a huge fan of uTorrent on the PC, because I found it quite user friendly.

It's been recently made available for the Mac so I installed it. However, found it a little buggy and missed some of the functionality found on the PC.

Tried Transmission and glad I did! Love the fact it automatically detects new torrents, and shows d/l and u/l speeds in Dock.

My vote goes for Transmission.

For MAC OS the best is Vuze (Azureus) its the only torrent software on my 2MB connection i get 800 kb/s download speed, other software like utorrent only gives me about 80 to 90 kb/s

You can also enable RC4 Encryption on it which means your Internet Service Provider doesn't know your downloading torrents which means they dont limit your internet/downloading speed (bottleneck you) or report you to your authorities.

Personally, I enjoy using Transmission.
However, the uTorrent beta is getting better and better, and maybe I''ll start using that. Currently though, it's still far behind Transmission.
I'll also give Vuze a try,

I'm going to say uTorrent for Mac. It's still in beta, but I think its far better than most of the other torrent clients for mac. Vuse is clunky, Transmission is goofy, I didn't like BitRocket... etc. The only thing missing from uTorrent is a way to monitor it from the dock. It's app menu is lacking so far.

I use Transmission now, but its only until uTorrent team fixes bugs with selective downloads.

Issues I have with Transmission:

1. Downloads a lot of extra data. Just start a new torrent after app relaunch and compare the "session transferes" DL number to the progress indicator on your torrent. Sometimes gets as big as 2x  (My friend - the only person I know who uses Transmission - has this issue as well)

2. Later versions seem to connect only to very few peers. I now use 1.22 instead of the latest 1.42 just because of this.

3. Doesn't seem rock-solid, because new versions tend to introduce more bugs or resurrect old ones instead of fixing them, need to worry about that extra downloaded data, because if it reaches unacceptable levels I have to stop downloading (why should a download take 6 days instead of 3 or 4????).

Unfortunately, my only alternative is Vuze, but I hate it so much because its slow sluggish, takes a ton of RAM and CPU, looks ugly and doesn't ask you what files to download when adding a torrent (have to manually deselect them later....). uTorrent is buggy when it comes to selective downloading, BitRocket doesn't have selective downloading functionality at all.

Sorry for a long rant :(

when comparing Transmission to uTorrent, it is more functional, but uses a bit more of system resources (about +1.0 CPU, +3 Threads and +4 MB of memory)
on the other hand...that ain't enough to justify switch to uTorrent :)

Same. I use uTorrent on my PC and love it, while i use Transmission on my Mac.

I plan on switching to uTorrent when it hits v1.0

Utorrent is the best

i have Utorrent for torrents any other did not work as well

also if you need a good torrent site try pirate bay :)

Does anyone know if I can set all of my downloads from Azureus to look at / and seed from .alias files linking to the real file locations (most of these are music files, which iTunes auto-organizes). I've researched this matter, and attempted a few of my own fixes to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
