There's a rumor that this newly announced Nintendo game is the big E3 announcement...

Quicktime trailer here.

(Just to be clear, the video seems legit - or legitimately bad, but I doubt this is the big announcement...)

Saw that trailer earlier... what an interesting name for a game.
I highly doubt thats the BIG announcement.

"Interesting name" is an understatement. I'm kinda skeptical they'll actually let this leave Japan: the whole game is awash in quirky Japanese ethos, from name to style.

It looks like someone recreated my dreams. Kinda interested in it, at least it's a change from MegaMurderer8 and BigHairedEmoPG12-Z (must stop doing them).

0_o that's made by NINTENDO?

Can the gay references be more clear? Captain Rainbow? Birdo (the first transexual video game character)?

Where was that?

It's the stupidest thing ever, but basically, if you look at the letters with stars underneath them in the title, they are U, R, M, R, G, A, and Y.

Someone noticed it and it was all over the blogs and forums for a week. Kotaku, Joystiq, Destructoid, NeoGAF...it was being posted everywhere.

There was probably a thread here.

Wasn't the quote that started this whole idea talking about reenergizing the key franchises, or making hardcore gamers happy, or something like that? This is not a key franchise, and I don't think it's the type of hardcore they were referring to.

I don't see Nintendo ever going after the "hardcore" gamers again. That market is dominated by the other two consoles while Nintendo has their own market with the Wii.

They might port over a couple of games, but they will probably be just that; ports. Any game like that won't be worth playing anyway because it will likely have very poorly integrated motion controls.

I'm putting my money on Nintendo developing something else revolutionary for the gaming market like the Wii itself and the Wii Fit. :)

Animal Crossing info, screens, seems like a give in. It's been awhile since they announced it originally and I remember them going over ideas. Naturally the game would be ruined by the online system.

Zelda is an odd one, I remember reading somewhere they were working on a new Zelda even while TP was still in development. It's been a good year since TPs release so a little info or teaser might be there, but I don't see any major major new stuff that a lot expect new.

Ports? You mean like Metroid Prime 1 & 2 with waggle? Super Mario Sunshine with waggle FLUDD? I think Nintendo has shown zero interest in re-releasing Gamecube stalwarts, but maybe Resident Evil 4 for the Wii has made then think twice.

Yes for upgraded ports. I skipped on Pikmin but I've heard it's ossom, and a 16:9, Wii remote version with a bargain bin price would push me to get it.
Probably skip Prime, even if it was (IMO) the best single player game last gen. Another IMO but I never found exploration games to have much replayability once you've 100%ed it.

I don't think so. Their hardcore titles still sell well; Mario, Zelda, Brawl (Metroid and F-Zero?).

Do you guys not remember that interview with Myimoto (spelling?:()
He said Nintendo was hard at work on a new Zelda, and he wanted so much to be able to tell everyone of it because it is such a work of art. This was around last year. I swear if there is no new Zelda trailer, i might just cry:p

I'll see if i can find that interview....

There have been a few hints at a new Zelda. IMO I'm taking the "hardcore market" comment as referring to either a new Zelda or F-Zero.

And I can't ruddy wait. Zelda

^ If it takes them as long with a new zelda as it did with TP, then by the time it'll be released the wii will be on it's last legs and we'll all be salivating over wii2 (or maybe next time they'll keep the theme going and call it nintendo poo :) )

F-Zero with the same team who developed F-Zero GX would be sweet, we don't want any of that Namco crap where they destroyed StarFox...

Did anyone here enjoy Starfox Adventures?

I would be up for a wii sequel.

Yeah I thought I was the only one who loved it. I thought RARE did a great job on it and I recently played through it again (its still a great looking game).

The closest thing to it on next gen is KAMEO and why wouldn't it be as its by the same team... cant see starfox adventures 2 ever happening though.

Apoorently Shigsy said something about not liking what happened last gen with their collaborations. I'm assuming they mean the Starfox (hated the Cube versions) and F-Zero.
Frankly I'd love Nintendo to make a proper Lylat Wars sequel. No on-foot combat, no extra added characters, no dinosaurs. Just a proper rail shooter with that brilliant map structure. Thing is it isn't bad for a game to last just a few hours so long as there is something compelling to bring players back (ie. amazing gameplay and many paths to the end).

Wish I could find a source for that quote since it might shed some more light.

It was so good. Another team would be ok. :)
But I think it's near the quality of Twilight Princess.
