I'm just a little OCD about it being cluttered. I know it doesn't help anything, but whatever.
Sure - I mean, if it's what you're comfortable with i won't try and intervene with that, but it's not just that it doesn't help. It can be detrimental, in that if an app is mid write whilst you close it, files can get corrupted. It also drains your battery slightly faster as the closing animation obviously requires more GPU power than just not doing it. Slight difference but it's there.
Regarding data loss, of course this is unlikely to happen, especially because iOS apps are written with the knowledge that a lot of people do in fact force close apps, but it is a possible outcome. (also less a problem on APFS since it can do atomic meta-data writes. )
