Maybe it’s a generational thing but I can’t listen to today’s music. I keep going back to classic rock from the 60s and 70s to chill out (I’m late 50s) The anguished stuff of today is just homogenised, narcissistic and self indulgent.

This young lady (and her brother) display an impressive amount of talent at quite a young age. I expect that will rather upset some who might be somewhat less accomplished.

Of course it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but what is?

I don't have a problem with her or her music. Some of her songs I've come across sounded nice.

But a documentary on her at such a young age and after only 1 album? Seems a bit premature to me.

Can everyone share their favorite MASH episode?
Love MASH. But Billie is a fan of The Office. So maybe everybody should share their favorite Office episode. It’s hard hard to pick just one but: The Injury; Booze Cruise; Casino Night; Grief Counseling; Business School; Dinner Party.

Come to think of it, if a large portion of this documentary were spent on Billie being a fan of The Office, that would be pretty interesting.

Man, since when has it been cool to talk trash about an 18 year old girl. She might not be YOUR cup of tea but she is to many.
She's not just an "18 year old girl", she's a celebrity who sells records. Just like Apple is made up of humans of several age levels who create products to sell. Yet it's okay for people here to trash Apple who also employs teenagers who work at the Apple store and people post trash about Apple's store employees all the time, and many of them are paid minimum wage. Bille Eilish makes millions of dollars. She can handle the criticism from people who don't care for her "work".

I just don't get the adulation for an entire genre of new women singers who do nothing but whisper from the back of their throats.
I never understood why people ever cared to listen to Bob Dylan either. Couldn't understand a word he said. Couldn't sing for crap either. But he got a contract and had success. There's no accounting for taste, especially when it comes to music.

of all the people in the world that have created, invented, cured, and actually made this world better this is what they could come up with. we put these entertainers on stupid pedistools, they are not heros, they entertain!
Right, we should only ever have inspirational documentaries about scientists and world leaders! Let’s do away with anything that’s merely “fun” or “interesting”! And while we’re at it, we should entirely do away with fiction, since it doesn’t inform us about weighty issues.

Or maybe— no, it seems foolish to suggest this, but maybe, we could have both. Documentaries about all manner of topics, some weighty and some fun, along with works of fiction.

You know Apple is doing both, right?

Their work entertain and bring joy to millions, if not billions of people in the world. I'd say that qualifies them for the "hero" moniker more than quite a few of the people we dub heroes.

There's way too much negativity in this thread.

I will say this: Denigrating another human being you don't even know on a personal level is toxic.
And yet this happens quite often here when people trash Apple employees at the Apple Store for simply doing their job.

Speaking of documentaries, I’d like mention my favorite one about the world’s best boss who works with his friends (actually they’re closer than friends, they’re coworkers) at the Scranton branch of a certain paper company. 😉

The entitlement often shared on this forum when anything is made that may not suit a particular persons exact & specific wishes is astonishing - almost spoilt-brat childlike!

If Apple had launched only a whole Billie Eilish dedicated channel & weren't doing anything else ever, then yeah, maybe a problem ... This is one show, there are others. Personally I'm not crazy about Ted Lasso, but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

FWIW I think both Billie & her brother are extremely talented musicians and it's certainly interesting (to me) how they've developed such a striking maturity & worldliness at such a young age. The hysteria surrounding them is in itself enough material for a documentary - see similar previous on ABBA, Jacksons, 1D, Wham! etc.

Is everything they do bang in-line with my taste? - definitely not. However to suggest they're anything other than highly talented musically, and with a broad enough base to get the ratings, is both ignorant and/or cynical.
